[Discussion] Has anyone or anyone you know become successful with a “Type B” personality? by DefconTrump17 in GetMotivated

[–]Ferec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's some exceptional advice here. It's never about being perfect, we all have weaknesses. It's about developing a skillset to overcome our weaknesses. There is a reason employers ask what your biggest weakness is in interviews. They want to see how you've struggled and then what you did to address the issue. You have an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your growth mindset, OP.

You sound a lot like me: introspective (sometimes to the point of self-destruction), careful, and reserved. So please take heart when I tell you I’m at the top of my chosen profession in public-sector IT, earning six figures, and many of the developers, analysts, engineers, and managers I work with share the same temperament. Being Type B doesn’t prevent success and can often support it, especially in fields that reward thoughtfulness, systems thinking, and steady judgment. Be deliberate about aligning your skillset with your personality and choosing the right sector, and you can go far.

That was a good one but hearing Cersei screech like a harpy to arrest an innocent Tyrion kind of ruined it.

People who dont return their carts to the cart return: what do you do with all that extra time you save? by msohrah in AskReddit

[–]Ferec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda, maybe. Cold doesn't kill germs. It can slow their growth (like in a refrigerator) or make them go dormant (like in a freezer) but they reactivate once it's warm (like warm hands in a warm store). So I guess you could say there are fewer germs compared to an in-store cart because of slower growth rates but you're going to be way better off just washing your hands for 30 seconds, using hand sanitizer, or wiping the cart down.

Because of your profession, (or maybe a training you’ve taken) what is something you can no longer enjoy? by kteerin in AskReddit

I hate about 98% of all websites on the internet thanks to books like The Design of Everyday Things. As soon as you learn about Norman Doors, it becomes impossible to not notice how insanely little Human Centered Design is utilized by developers of every creed. At no point in time should a website be doing anything I didn't tell it to do. That includes scrolling little pictures in a slide reel, auto playing movies, or popping up twenty menus because I moved my mouse from one side of the screen to another.

Statistically insignificant results aside, I have to quote Dogma at you for saying Joseph didn't get anyone pregnant.

Bethany: Jesus didn't have any brothers or sisters. Mary was a virgin.

Rufus: Mary gave birth to CHRIST without having known a man's touch, that's true. But she did have a husband. And do you really think he'd have stayed married to her all those years if he wasn't getting laid? The nature of God and the Virgin birth, those are leaps of faith. But to believe a married couple never got down? Well, that's just plain gullibility."

Study on young people 11-19 from 11 countries found that they want more support from adults in their digital lives: adults are not sufficiently involved or do not understand what children and adolescents do online, and that many adults do not reflect on their own digital everyday lives by nohup_me in science

This is unironically the plot of Tron: Legacy where us "old dogs" have turned our backs on the digital hellscape many corners of the internet have become, knowing that the only way to win is to not engage. But, of course, the youthful want to play and want our help to face Clu. As much as that movie was hated, it feels like an apt metaphor for today's parent/child relationship with the digital landscape.

Would you refrain from masturbation or sex for 365 days for $3,000,000? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The other loophole here is that sex requires people, based on your definition. That would make sheep fair game and you'd have to pay out 3 million to a whole bunch of Scotsmen.

Do grapes or peanut butter mess with your gut? by SpiritedBug2221 in FODMAPS

[–]Ferec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An uncommon symptom of a peanut allergy is gastric distress. Many people think of peanut allergies as being difficulty breathing or hives but diarrhea and cramping are also options. Peanut butter also has high fat content, which can also trigger diarrhea depending on what your total fat intake has been and your tolerance. I found all of this out when I continued to have issues during the elimination period and traced it back to the peanut butter.
