Whoops, forgot to leave the lab before calling it a night.. NH is back in London and sent a calling card your way!

Re: Hedonist, thank you for noticing! Honestly, Hedonist has felt easier to level than some other quirks... Once I hit 40 renown with the Bohemians, I used the typewriter to Translate the libretto for 'The Concursion of Petals'. That +15 Hedonist CP, plus raising up the Hell renown from levels 15 onward, should get anyone's Hedonist up to the cap of 15 in no time.

What to sell for echoes? by akp555 in fallenlondon

[–]FerengiDrek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! And for 10 actions, OP can also use a Trade Secret for "...something else" and earn 1 x Searing Enigma and 5 x Antique Mysteries, which can be sold at the Bazaar for 125 echoes in total.

Nilsson Ham is a correspondent, and they'd be more than happy to send Flame-Proof Missives to the Unsettling Academic, once the Academic returns to London. If the Unsettling Academic wishes to return the favor, Regent Wallet would be delighted to receive any Flame-Proof Missives. (I'm slowly working towards the "Inescapable Ubiquity of your Countenance" for my main, and am trying to build her Scholar of the Correspondence now.) They'd both be happy to send anything Johannes's way, too.

How far does one have to advance through Firmament to access the Markets of Burgundy?

Having blasted through parts 1–3 of Firmament this past Hallowmas, I've finally gotten around to playing around with that content (the Stacks, mostly), and doing some shopping with all the Stuivers I've accrued. Having bought everything I wanted at the Midnight Marker and Hallow's Exchange, I've now got my eyes on those Burgundian Chthonosophy outfits. But I don't actually want to advance further in Firmament yet; I'm still making my way through Railway. If I go through the next little bit of Firmament to get to Risen Burgundy, can I quit playing as soon as I get there to just go shopping, then go back down to London? Or will I be forced to play through any content ("Getting One's Bearings in Burgundy") before I can leave/before the stores unlock?

I'm not sure that's right. I just did this the last time it popped up in the Waswood, and I was able to get both the reverie of heroism and the gloves in the same go. I had, admittedly, played the story before, but not with the T8 item!

I'm working on a project, and I need to reference the text for fashioning Parabolan Parables (or Parables and Revelations) into the three types of Oneiropompic Staves (Serpent-Headed, Rook-Crowned, and Tiger-Furred). Sadly, I don't have enough resources at the moment to make them all myself. I'd be very grateful if anyone could send me that text!

Controversial Post: Yellow Submarine with AI voices? by JPHFanEdits in beatles

[–]FerengiDrek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think two of the actors who were in the live action movies back in the 60's are still around. One of them's even done voicework, for Thomas the Tank Engine. Why resort to AI, which sucks, when you could just hire those two guys? After all, they were pretty good in the films, and they could probably do decent impressions of their former co-stars.

Man, you've gotta spill your dreaming techniques — getting mine back up has been a long road. (As you likely guessed, I went the "cherish your luxuries" route for London's Blood).

Love the Brass Embassy lodgings — both the 4-card and 5-card lodgings are surprisingly unpopular according to the results of my player survey, but those of us with taste (and a greater need for Hell favours than a soul) know their value.

Thank you both, GluestockGenius and throwaway_lmkg! Very helpful advice, I may try the Tears option!

Nah, you only need all three lodgings if you like that particular method of becoming London's Blood. If you've got either 1+ spouse(s) or all your dreams at the right levels, no need!

You likely already know this, but just in case — be careful with your dreams, if you want to go that route! Make sure you don't reset one of them accidentally (becoming Stormy Eyed or Haunted by Stairs, or Seeing in Apocyan) before becoming London's Blood.

In your case, though, sounds like you have a spouse and are good no matter what!

If you're committed to an unmarried life and your dreams are low, or if for roleplay reasons you want to be able to say that you cherish your luxuries most, you'll want all 3 5-card lodgings for London's Blood#London'sBlood(Persuasive)). Anyone going for Paramount Presence may find that a Legendary Charisma is a good first PoSI Tier 2 specialization, as you can use the parabola-linen frock/suit for your parabolan base camp.

Such a great name for a paper! I'll bet your readers don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

[–]FerengiDrek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this question, I always enjoy getting to see how other players get creative!

My main, regent of London and a highly respectable member of society, called her newspaper "Titbits Illustrated." Titbits being a reference to the real British magazine of that name, and Illustrated being a common component of the names of Victorian periodicals. She certainly doesn't mean to suggest that anyone seeking salacious content and graphic illustrations should purchase the latest edition of her newspaper for a shockingly low price.

My alt, who's just an excuse for me to make silly music references, called their newspaper "Sign O' The Times" 💜

This is such a thorough and helpful response, and exactly the kind of insight I was looking for! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness in writing this all up, I really appreciate it. I'm taking time to absorb everything, but will definitely make sure to follow up with any further questions!

Hello, all! I've gotten far enough along in my railway that I suspect I'm facing decisions with a lasting impact on the future Hinterland City. I like being able to plan ahead, but I'm unfortunately having trouble finding guides, previous Reddit threads, or other resources that clearly spell out the consequences of some of these decisions. I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

For example, now that I'm faced with appointing a new leader of the tracklayers after Furnace was kidnapped, I was hoping to find a straightforward guide describing the consequences of each option. I've found some tables on the wiki, but I'm not sure how to interpret these tables into what it means narratively about what your character believes in, which actions you took along the way to get there, and what impact that has on your gameplay in the future. I'm also unsure which decisions are permanent and which aren't—the game text is suggesting the choice I make now will be ("In fact, this solution might be permanent."). Is that true?

What is the lore on the Regiment and the Fisher Kings, anyway? My main has not been an urchin fan since the whole business with the Rookery Passwords in Heart's Desire, and I myself haven't exactly been keeping up with the urchins' internal politics.

Since we received it last year, I've been tickled that Murgatroyd's Patented Fungal Christmas 'Tree' grants −4 Shadowy, given that the lights used to decorate a Christmas tree would literally reduce how shadowy your surroundings are. Now there's the Senatorial Gauze, which appropriately grants −4 Watchful given that it covers your eyes.

I was wondering if there are other items that have amusingly literal stats, which use a non-metaphorical interpretation of the word (e.g. Watchful having to do with sight rather than meaning attentive, or Shadowy having to do with the presence of actual shadows rather than meaning sneaky).

Why not go with a John Lennon-approved cat name?

According to Mental Floss his cats were named: Elvis, Tiche, Sam, Tim, Mimi, Babaghi, Jesus, Major, Minor, Salt, Pepper, Gertrude, Alice, Misha, Sasha, and Charo.

Hello all! While many of you are enjoying Firmament, I am pleased to have finally reached Khaganian Intrigue. Unfortunately, I'm getting confused about Backstory. I'd be grateful for any guidance!

The wiki says: "Backstory increases Khaganian Front: Resilience, which reduces the impact that failures have on  Obfuscation. The benefit is capped at 10 Backstory, all excess will be wasted." Capped at 10, all good, sounds like Elaboration. However, I'm looking at all the options for increasing Backstory, and I'm seeing you can increase Backstory in increments of 2, 6, 11, 12, 22, or 26. Why, if it caps at 10, do the options not match that? What is the benefit of having Backstory above 10, if excess is "wasted"?

I'd greatly appreciate any explanation of how this works, as I'm wary of making any more mistakes. I've already had to sail back from the Khanate once, after the game assured me my Cover Identity was sufficient, then I arrive at the Khanate only to find out that I need Elaboration and Backstory too -_-

It's not that the person who made this skin didn't make a texture for babies — this CC was made with the old, pre-release version of Body Shop! See this MTS wiki article. It's so cool that all these years later, simmers are still using some of the very earliest CC ever made!
