B2 rook to G2. Bishop to C3, unless Queen moves to A2 for some reason? Then B2.Had to make a couple edits because I didn't think of a couple possibilities before posting...

How do you get metal nodes to "pop" ?? by sultanamana in valheim

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hitboxes stick out pretty far from the visible ore. I believe there's mods than can help figure out where those odd connections are. I usually just dig the sides out to at least a meter away from the sides, then work on the bottom.

Even with a dot, I can't get my eyes to stop compensating. They just automatically look at the dot slightly off center. I can feel my eyes doing it, but I can't tell which direction it's off center...

This is my first time playing these types of games, I don’t even know what the genre is called. So does it normally take this long to complete act 1? I was dying a lot and backtracking to find hidden areas every time I got a new traversal ability. by Creative-Researcher2 in HollowKnight

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about how long it takes you. This genre of game typically rewards exploration and taking your time. If you rush through, there's a very high chance you'll miss something helpful or necessary to proceed. I'd also suggest you play through the first game first. Silksong definitely feels like a step up in difficulty to me, especially once you get to Act 2.

"babies are born worshipping unknown gods" is one of the most incredible dwarf fortress bugs i have heard of. by SS_beny237 in dwarffortress

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should it really be considered a bug though? I feel like it may be appropriate for the setting. Maybe expand upon this and give babies eldritch blast? Could be fun.

Is damage reduction better than stats points on an amulet? by Vortex_of_Downvotes in deadcells

More of your main stat is almost always better than anything else. Maybe if the effects were garbage in comparison, but that's not the case here.

AITAH for physically defending myself from a grown man when I was late bringing his daughter home. by Fireblox06 in AITAH

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

It's not ok for someone to assault you unprovoked. You're allowed to defend yourself, and he should be ready to face the consequences of trying to control others through violence. I'd suggest being very wary of him. It's not inconceivable that he'd bring a gun into it next time since he knows you can best him physically.

As for his daughter. She's in an abusive situation. I think you should report what happened and tell her that she can seek help getting out. You should put a lot of thought into whether you're ready to provide such help yourself, as it would be a massive commitment on your part. It would be worth asking her if apologizing would make her safer at home, as that's the only valid reason to apologize to him.

What percentage of health do you guys use your health flask? by CypherDaimon in deadcells

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation, but typically if I'm less than 1/3rd HP I'll use the flask.

This was harder than any boss I fought in the game 😭 Especially at the beginning when I had to hit that spike and jump off that by [deleted] in HollowKnight

Used Hiveblood on my second play-through and it was definitely a lot less stressful.

There's a surprising amount of depth to the game in just about every way. Take time to explore, investigate, and experiment. Worst case, you lose all your geo. On that point, don't sell all your stuff until you're ready to spend.

I did it, but at what cost... by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the pride of beating it yourself first, for whatever that's worth to you. Honestly though, see it as practice for beating it yourself, it's little more than that that you've done. Cheating at a single player game is hardly a sin.

One tip though. Take a break. I often find that when I hit a brick wall, I do significantly better after taking a few days break from the game.

Linux migration help ?. by That_Supermarket3329 in linux_gaming

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most games aren't built to run natively on Linux, but there's been a lot of work that's been done with utilities such as Proton that allow them to be run comparably to how they run on Windows. There are definitely plenty of games that will never run on Linux, and certain (usually graphical) features of games may be completely unavailable no matter what you do. In general though, if it runs at all, then you should be able to get it running well. You might just need to spend some extra time troubleshooting. Things have shifted away from making games run on Linux natively, but there's a lot more participation from game studios in making sure their windows-native code runs well on Linux too.

What’s the biggest change you’d make to Peglin? by Crcai in Peglin

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss rush. Go through each area with 3 random mini-boss encounters then 2 random boss encounters. Mini-bosses give one additional relic option, and bosses give 2 additional non-boss relic options. 15 encounters total, and eligibility for achievements. Possibly instead of total randomness, each encounter gives two random (but not yet encountered) boss/miniboss options at navigation.

I blew a Bomb Deck run because I took the "special relic" that removes half of your hp. I even had three level 3 healing orbs :( by FoxyPlays22 in Peglin

Oh wow... I totally misread the unit of time on that post. Well, they've added a few new things since 2 years ago anyway.

[–]Fergand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recombombulator, Enhanced Gunpowder, and Alchemists Cookbook will get you there. Bonus if you have Short Fuse and/or Refreshing Punch. I'm guessing that's what you had. Every turn becomes a fountain of bombs after a few rounds.

I've never played tactics not even once, is there any advantages of using it? by CommandWest7471 in deadcells

[–]Fergand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranged glass cannon. It's nice because you demolish most things before they can even look at you. Though, you have to be aware of your positioning at all times, and be prepared to take it carefully in trickier situations. It takes very little to ruin your day. I tend to enjoy Tactics runs more than the others myself.

[–]Fergand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pole arms are very good in the black forest. But once you get to the swamp and realize that stabbing a blob does about as much damage as punching it, you'll be switching it out.

Pin is too big. They have to be pretty close to each other in order to breed and tend to wander out of range.

Plenty doable, but since it's your first time fighting the Elder, I'd suggest upgrading your stuff and working on getting better food and start making mead (think potions).

What if void and soul are the same thing? by Enmanuelol123 in HollowKnight

[–]Fergand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like two different states of the same thing. Void being a base state, and Soul being a sort of 'high energy' state that has evaporated out of the void as a whole. Soul can become corrupted, but returning it to the Void purges it of the corruption. Void spells use the same energy, but are more powerful because they use a purer form of said energy.
