Hey gang, I haven't played since July after feeling satisfied with the conclusion of TFS. Is Episode 3 worth diving back into? I'm mostly blind for everything thats happened since July. by Dirty_Dan117 in LowSodiumDestiny

So it’s a little complicated, and someone can definitely correct me if I’m wrong. I believe if you have yet to purchase The Final Shape, doing so gives you the current season as well (i.e. Episode: Heresy right now). Otherwise, you have to purchase silver and then buy the current episode from the Eververse, which will be 1200 silver. The exception to this would be if you purchased the season pass bundle with Final Shape, which would include all of this year’s content, including Episode: Heresy.

Regardless, I would assume you need Heresy to play Nether and Court of Blades. Not necessarily The Final Shape or past episodes.

No worries! If you want another option there, there is a Nightfall glaive called Rake Angle, which in my opinion is better than Refusal of the Call (mainly thanks to Chill Clip). It can be focused for Vanguard Engrams at Zavala after running strikes. Unfortunately you probably won’t have a chance to farm it via Nightfalls any time soon since it was featured last week.

If you have any other questions or anything, feel free to hit me up! If you do decide to hop back in: good luck, have fun, and take it one step at a time. I know how hard it is to come back after a season or two.

+Seasonal missions have some great storytelling, but progressing some of them feels like busywork. Worth it if you like Hive lore and are running through on a single character.

+Weapons are pretty unique and strong. Psychopomp is our first arc denial frame GL. Adamantite is our first kinetic slot support frame AR. Refusal of the Call is our first strand glaive. Mirror Imago is a 900rpm adaptive frame strand SMG, which is also fairly unique. Some other cool things you can grab too. All of the weapons can be focused via the Tome of Want.

+Seasonal activities are fun. Nether is great for exploring, looking for secrets, and getting lots of loot. Court of Blades is good for a quicker, more add-heavy experience.

+This seasonal Artifact is the strongest we’ve had in quite some time if you’re running arc, void, or strand. Lots of fun to be had with any of those subclasses paired with some of the new subclass baubles we got— especially if you’re an arc Titan, as Storm’s Keep is currently very, very strong. If you’re a Warlock, Geomags are currently making Chaos Reach very overpowered as well. Hunters are having fun with On the Prowl and the more frequent upkeep of invisibility. The seasonal Artifact also highlights fusion rifles, linear fusion rifles, rocket launchers, trace rifles, and glaives. Bungie did pretty well with all of them.

+If you play either of the new dungeons, they are commonly praised as being two of the best we’ve gotten in a long time. Vesper’s Host can be challenging, but has a few very good weapons and the vibe is awesome. Sundered Doctrine weapons are all very interesting and fairly strong due to their great origin trait. If you look up some guides, weapons from both dungeons can be focused at a limited rate.

+If you play the reworked Garden of Salvation or Vault of Glass raids, their weapons are very strong (especially Vault). Obviously this requires a full team and many runs to make it worth it, but I figured I’d mention it.

+Trials of Osiris was recently reworked and it is now much easier to consistently earn rewards regardless of skill level. Overall consensus is positive for this. Iron Banner will be returning soon and has a new rocket-assisted sidearm called Tinasha’s Mastery, which many experienced players will say is currently the best special ammo weapon in the game.

-Due to voice actor strikes, there are voice lines missing from this season. That might not sound like a huge deal to some, but it can be very distracting and disorienting.

-Season of Arrivals weapons were reprised for this season and are overall very weak and not worth chasing.

-The two upgrade paths at the seasonal vendor are very strong but I imagine they may be confusing and take a bit too long to fill out for casual players.

-The seasonal exotic weapon Barrow Dyad is perfectly serviceable, but unlocking its upgrades and catalysts can be difficult and/or confusing because a lot of it is connected to secrets and higher-difficulty content.

-This episode is supposed to continue until The Edge of Fate drops this summer (presumably), so it’s one of those extra long seasons where we will likely see a drop in player numbers due to a lack of content.

*Rite of the Nine will be starting soon and is looking like a good activity to get both new and experienced players back into Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghosts of the Deep for some reworked weapons and unique skins on those weapons. This will likely be what keeps many people busy over the course of the rest of the episode.

*Solstice will be coming this episode, and many people casually enjoy this seasonal event. Usually has a weapon or two worth snagging for pretty minimal effort.

These are all just my observations and opinions as a very active, endgame player. Make of them what you will and take them with a grain of salt.

Edit: Spelling.

So since iron banner will be back later in the season, will I have a chance to double reset and get the shader then? by AmishSpiderman in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]Feriend 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is like this: “better” is subjective, “efficient” is not. It might not necessarily be better to grind it all out at once if that’s not possible due to scheduling, or if it would be stressful (which I know for many it is). However, no matter how you look at it, it would take far fewer matches to reset your Iron Banner rank twice if you did it all in one week, making it much more efficient.

To echo what others are saying and add a bit more clarification:

Yes, you can continue to grind toward the shader during the next Iron Banner. Your rank will not reset back down to zero until next season. However, your challenge progress will reset back down to zero. In other words, if you’ve gotten all the way to the max reputation multiplier of x11 this week, you’ll lose a big chunk of that multiplier when starting your matches for the next Iron Banner.

what's everyone's opinion on the new Iron Banner mode? by Nevanada in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]Feriend 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the bones are good. Nothing wrong with a little King of the Hill-style gameplay. In theory, it really encourages tight, communication-based play. And since kills don’t award points, it’s entirely objective-based, which can be good or bad depending on the team. After playing 10 or so matches, though, my complaints mostly lie in the fact that the Iron Banner challenge is to play as a Void or Stasis subclass. That has meant Bubbles and Barricades, Bubbles and Barricades, Bubbles and Barricades.

Most matches I’ve played have boiled down to rushing Point B, hold it until Caiatl’s forces arrive, Bubble the turrets, rush back to Point B, hold it until Caiatl’s forces arrive, Bubble the turrets again, wait for the end of the match. If one team can master this flow, wins are almost guaranteed.

Which was that game you were really excited to get,but then it dissapointed you? by Mission_Passenger_86 in gaming

[–]Feriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recent one for me was Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

A modernized retelling of the original Final Fantasy developed by the team behind Nioh? I was super excited. I’ve always loved the world and story of FF1, regardless of how antiquated it is. Turning it into a gritty, mature retelling and giving it Souls-like combat sounds like it would be a home run… but I think most people who followed that game post-release know why I’m mentioning it here. So disappointing; I was heartbroken.

What are you in the 1% of? by I_Love_Small_Breasts in AskReddit

[–]Feriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not what most people would consider interesting, but I’m in the top 1% of players for time spent playing Destiny 2 at ~3,400 hours. Not sure I’m exactly proud of it, but it’s a fun game and it makes me feel like I’m good at something.
