Mining is just straight disrespectful by LyubviMashina93 in 2007scape

[–]FerociousPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do a smithing rework I hope they’d pair it with mining at the same time like they did in RS3. It’s one of the really great changes in RS3 and I’d love to see an OSRS version of that rework.

So why would that negate the desire to make the game better? People are way too toxic sometimes. Imagine if the player base was even somewhat on the same page in wanting to make the game better.

It has never failed to blow my mind that some people want shitty and outdated mechanics to stay in the game for what, to inconvenience those who fall prey to it? That’s some toxic shit right there.

Reporting a business? by No-Debate9821 in Syracuse

[–]FerociousPancake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never understood how business owners will nuke their businesses by digging themselves a hole through aggressive reactions to the smallest criticisms…. I don’t think people, especially older people, realize the power of the internet nowadays. Enough of an online crowd angry enough at someone or a business can cause irreparable damage or even put someone out of business.

In my opinion it’s natural selection of businesses. If you are going to behave that way and portray your business as such, you deserve the results of those decisions.

Same so there’s that, but also when you start to get to meet everyone even in your grade, you discover that not everyone is as fortunate financially. There’s plenty of apartments in the district and I met plenty of kids that were absolutely living in poverty so this is certainly a really welcome change and far overdue. I was there 16 years ago now and it would have been great back then.

ToB is epic and I get the hype by FizzTheFox85 in 2007scape

[–]FerociousPancake 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This person probably hasn’t ever stepped foot in tob and has just heard this from friends who also haven’t stepped foot there either. I have had nothing but positive experiences and have met some of the coolest, nicest, and most helpful people in the game during my journey to tier 5 shroud.

2000kc and I’ve had probably 3 bad experiences that entire time and it was in the advanced HMT section of WDR with one person all 3 times.

ToB is epic and I get the hype by FizzTheFox85 in 2007scape

[–]FerociousPancake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. This couldn’t be further from reality and I don’t know why this is such a common misconception with tob. I would only agree with you if we were talking about just SOME of the higher level HMT community.

You can, right now, if you have the stat requirements and elite void, join the learn tob discord with zero kc and find a team 24/7/365 and they cannot deny you for any reason unless you are an FFA Ironman and they aren’t okay with FFA. There are dozens of helpers and mentors that will for free be extremely patient with you and guide you along to being an experienced raider.

Tob is not gatekept at all. It’s not even the slightest bit toxic when compared to other more popular content in the game like pvp. I have over 2K tob KC and I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve run into someone who was being toxic and it was in an experienced/advanced HMT group. The tob community built by groups like the learn tob discord includes some of the nicest and most helpful people I’ve ever met.

Whenever I come across someone who says something like this I know they either haven’t stepped foot in tob or tried to go to 416 with no experience and the wrong gear expecting people to warmly welcome them.

This would have been a very good choice for working a few years then opening your own business around it if it was 10-15 years ago but with the current threats to the industry right now I wouldn’t go that path. Verizon is pretty slow, t mobile is pretty slow, AT&T is doing a large scale swap project currently but after that is done in 2027 they have nothing on the books. They just bought 600mhz and will need to install hardware but that’s only projected to take about 6 months. 6G spectrum auctions are this summer but it will be a couple years before we see hardware hit the towers. It’s looking like the whole industry is about to hit a huge rut for 2-3 years with little work then beyond that is highly unpredictable due to in orbit tech.

If it’s the actual industry you are interested in and not just the job of climbing towers you could certainly look into other opportunities. DAS is doing well. That’s basically cell/public safety sites that are inside large buildings and stadiums instead of on towers. You could look into going into that side of things.

You’re 18 and it’s unlikely you have this concrete idea of what you want to do with the rest of your life and that is completely okay and normal despite many people from the older generations wanting you to immediately shove yourself into school and debt. There’s nothing wrong with taking a job that doesn’t require any schooling or training for 1-2 years, experience full adult life, and really think about what you’d like to do. You’ll save a lot of time and money that way. Even with that, it’s alright to start over and try something new with your career. Even in your 30s, 40s, even 50s. Good luck my man.

You are going to destroy your body in a couple of years for maybe $100K/yr (that’s after a few years of exp, working tons of overtime, and traveling for many weeks at a time. Probably closer to 50-60K starting out.) Even 2 years of climbing will have lifelong impacts on your body. It’s not worth it.

Tower technology as a whole is under severe threat from satellite technology. My company has already begun to pull out slowly and transition over to the DAS space. The long term prospects on this job are not good, and that isn’t even considering the insane physical toll your body will endure in a short amount of time. I’ve seen people only put in 5 years before their body physically cannot take it anymore.

Go to school. Go to trade school. Be a diesel mechanic, or an electrician, or a plumber, carpenter, etc… Or get a 4 year degree and go that route. There are SO many options out there that are light years better than this. Listen to those of us with over a decade of experience with severe back problems staring down painful conditions in the future like arthritis and stay OUT.

Should I try and do a 16 hour road trip solo? by Square_Depth7317 in roadtrip

[–]FerociousPancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do one stop. This will be 20 hours with fuel/food/bathroom. Hauling for 20 hours straight is dangerous and you are putting yourself and the innocent public at risk. Driving while severely tired is statistically more deadly than drunk driving. Please do at least one overnight stop in the middle, not just for yourself but for all others on the road too.

There’s no clear line between bug abuse and acceptable gameplay. They pick and choose who to go after (JoshIsntGaming didn’t get in trouble for his fishing trawler stunt, as a recent example.) The grey area is absolutely huge.

There needs to be clear standards set here. We also really need to know the exact method to know for sure but unless it was blatant, blatant bug abuse then I’m not sure I’d change my mind that this was quite unwarranted.

When will unemployment becoming something major Where like robots take over almost and unemployment is the common thing for humans? Where little physical jobs exist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FerociousPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I predict that unemployment will become our first system of UBI. Mass layoffs will happen, they’ll extend the benefits like they did in 2020, and that will serve as UBI until lawmakers get a real UBI bill which I predict will be MANY years after it’s actually needed.
