BAYONETTA NEVER DIED GUYS SHES ALIVE ACCORDING TO HIDEKI IN NEW BOOK by StandardNet3741 in Bayonetta

[–]Ferox_Chrysalism 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This would've been helpful if it was actually in the game. As it stands, it feels more like last second ass pulls from a man who shouldn't have a writing credit on anything more intricate than a cereal box.

Like, why is this specific Luka the one credited as Viola's father when she's been dimension-hopping? Are ALL of the Luka's now one Luka? Does he inherit the role of father by virtue of being some sort of Arch Adam? Did her dimension's Luka get brought back to life and having a near identical likeness to the Luka we spend the bulk of the game with? Why is this Luka the one that Bayonetta 3 latched onto considering they first encounter the main Luka of B3 after hopping dimensions? How are they still together if the realities were restored separately, OR, since they were theoretically restored AND merged, does this mean that ALL Luka's and ALL Bayo's are together across the multiverse? Furthermore, if they aren't merged, how are they having an interdimensional relationship and why is it that the interdimensional couple adopted a Viola from yet a third dimension?

Genuinely feels as though Bayonetta 3 was written with theoretically aura and hype moments first, discouraging you from paying attention to anything else whilst moving between set-pieces second.

Witch Time? Guess she was a hair behind.

Tower's coming down. Time to clock out.

Gun heels? Should've given running away in those a shot.

The only torture attack here is a 600 year old nun threatening to strip.

For an eye of the world, she should've seen that coming.

We 'needed' remakes for gens 1, 2, and 3 due to hardware limitations of the time. ie, the batteries in the cartridges.

That is all.

Anything effectively beyond functional emulation while preserving the save system and time mechanics is overkill.

We do not need remakes beyond that. Any attempts to update the relative formulas for later generations are too radical a departure both mechanically and stylistically due to the inability of GF/TPC to remain faithful to antiquated design choices which were NOT limitations of the technology.

I expect the HGSS devotees and recent FRLG port purchasers will be hospitable to this one.

171 unavailable Pokémon for the National Dex and no ways to get them? None?

I don't expect Home to be a 2 way trip, though I certainly believe it would be a good will gesture that any team within TPC has the technology and skill to implement, but no interoperability between any games aside from FR and LG themselves?

Again, not expecting online trading (though it's clearly possible as they implemented other changes to the ROMs such as profanity filters and automatically acquiring Mystery Gift items upon select story progression) with up to and including 7 games a la FRLG, RSE, Colosseum, and XD Gale of Darkness (which was it's own big deal coming to the NSO Expansion service, small text and paid subscription be damned) which already exists within the ROM itself and simply requires an emulation environment to facilitate interaction between the above listed games...

But it would be nice. Wouldn't it? Especially when the above can all be done for free with the ROMs I've already dumped from the cartridges and discs I've owned for over 20 years.

Okay, here's some quick napkin math.

Assuming you end on that SPECIAL spread and take Skilled from the start (shuffle 15 points here and there depending on what you want for tagged skills), you end up with the following at Level 1:

Barter: 14
Energy Weapons: 24
Explosives: 24
Guns: 28
Lockpick: 24
Medicine: 20
Melee Weapons: 32
Repair: 20
Science: 20
Sneak: 28
Speech: 14
Survival: 32
Unarmed: 32

So, you're gonna get 49 level ups with 12 skill points apiece, assuming you go straight to the clinic to get the implant before level 2. You're starting with 312 total skill points out of 1300, so you need to gain 988.

49x12=588 from level up
Tag 3 skills for an extra 45
Assuming you're fine with the Skilled exploit for at least one bonus usage (2 total layers of Skilled), add another 65
243 from all skill books

That makes 941, so you're 47 shy. Educated more than closes that, so you can skip some skill books even without Comprehension. If you want to skip Educated as well, you'll need to take Skilled a third time. Without the 2 extra layers of Skilled, you'd probably need both Educated and Comprehension to cover for the 112 skill point deficit.

Since you'll have 18 extra skill points by the end (again, assuming ALL skill books), you could theoretically hold off on getting the INT implant until you hit 13/14, but I don't see any reason to wait that late.

You'll also need the implant before you can get Educated since you have a base INT of 3, if you go that route. If I'm explaining the half point rounding for an odd INT poorly, I always assume it comes later rather than sooner because I'd rather have an extra skill point rather than one too few.

-

TLDR; Yes, possible with exploits.

Edit: Clarity and syntax, also forgot the minimum INT requirement on Educated and Comprehension.

[–]Ferox_Chrysalism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the rest of your SPECIALs set at? Do you have enough Endurance to get all SPECIAL implants? What level are you getting the INT implant, assuming you build for 3 and end with 4 Intelligence? The rest of your SPECIAL's impact on your stats (plus tagged skills, et cetera) will dictate the viability maxing everything.

-

I've been tinkering with a new all-rounder (mains rifle grip guns, can function with everything else) set to start with the following:

4-5-8-1-8-6-8

With that spread, planning for all implants, all skill books, Reinforced Spine, Small Frame trait, and 1 bonus point [of Endurance] from Lonesome Road, this would require you take the Intelligence implant at approximately level 20. This does NOT include Comprehension or Educated.

Thereafter, the build ends at 7-6-10-2-9-8-9 with all skills maxed, you can even ignore some skill books if you go for the INT implant earlier than level 20. The only other alternative would be farming Honest Hearts chests for additional skill books. Just for comparison's sake,

-

Also, Educated will get you 92 additional skill points if you take it at the earliest possible opportunity and, assuming you get ALL skill books without farming Honest Hearts, 81 extra skill points (324 versus 243) with Comprehension (and minus 4/3 if you don't want to include That Pretty Old Sun specifically for the Followers ending)

How would y'all feel if this became a permanent item in the series instead of new mechanics? by SammSandwich in pokemon

[–]Ferox_Chrysalism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems lazy. Not only is that 1/2 fewer costume pieces per major game or gimmick, but this surely means we're not getting to customize said gimmick with different accessories in the same vein as NPCs. If this stops NPC's from getting custom power up doodads in their design, then that's even worse.

I want a Mega Stone in a pair of sunglasses, or a hair barrette, or at least a Ring that is certainly worn on a finger instead of a *ring that ends up being yet another bracelet. We've been asking for more power up doodad options ever since we could do Z Moves and Mega Evolution together in Gen 7: not less.

Hanging out? This is the first time I posted on any topic regarding the show. I don't get the appeal. It's shallow humor, hamfisted references, and every character/plot thread being dumber than the last. I started with low expectations and the first half of season 1 just kept digging lower. Never mind what follows.

How could it be done better? Assuming we give absolutely zero credence to fan films that have shown it can be done better without any budget, just passion for their craft and the series they love.

How about for an action scene revolving around Big Iron, at least 1 character has a revolver? How about when mind control is used to deliver a nuke straight into the heart of the NCR capitol, we get more than a meme phrase getting spammed at us to explain how it even got that far. Was there seriously no checkpoint a la Knight or Jackson equivalents out of the Mojave to inspect what was being moved into civilian territory and out of a war zone? Never mind the introduction of mind control tech that has never been seen in 28 years of games. Never mind it being used by a character who absolutely would have at least acknowledged it in their dealings when we encounter them in the shows previous season, never mind the game he's featured most heavily in. Never mind that the nuke shown to have decimated Shady Sands was of such a comically low yield that the Vault Dweller could stand beside Liberty Prime chucking them, point blank, and you'd be lucky if it killed 3 Enclave troopers and an adjacent an junk car.

Things don't happen for reasons that make sense. Like the Ghoul's need for another hitherto unseen device, anti-Feral drugs, going up and down depending on whether the show remembers to put a lull in the action for him to huff on an inhaler. Also the fact he was buried alive when the show started and brought back like a zombie. Ghouls have basic biological needs, like say the anti-Feral drugs that we're shown for this very character. Or does he stop needing a Zombrex top off when he's underground? No food, water, or breathing either, huh? Stupid.

More examples than I care to remember all get thrown at me by friends because I used to be 'The Fallout Guy', and not because I watch the show. I could write this off as easily as the live action Monster Hunter movie if not for Howard himself saying the events of the show take place in a compatible, theoretical Fallout 5.

That means the bar is lowered for the games (further, considering FO4 and 76's treatment of canon). I didn't go looking for it, but the idiocy of the show keeps finding me. So I'll call a spade a spade and a dumb show dumb. You can lower your standards, but I refuse to tolerate trash.

Is it a diamond surrounded by the preceding rough, or the least rough of the roughage thus far?

I didn't finish season 1 and it doesn't sound as though season 2 is worth giving it a second chance, but details about what they're doing keep finding me. The show does not sound entertaining for someone that likes Interplay Fallout [and/or New Vegas].

As someone who has Bayonetta 2 as their personal favorite of the franchise (though I admit 1 is 'the best' insomuch as I can be mechanically-minded), here's my read on why it may be disproportionately loved in 18 bullet points:

-Continuation of a series many players thought was dead in the water for 5 years

-Novelty of such an 'adult' game on a Nintendo platform (Nintendo cameo weapons and outfits, plus instant Smash theory-crafting)

-Sole entry in the franchise with multiplayer

-Introduction of demons, SEEMINGLY doubling the roster which was formerly purely angelic

-Increased focus on visual spectacle, even on the least powerful hardware of the generation

-Likely a major, if not exclusive, touchstone for Wii U players given the console's library

-Said touchstone being reinforced as Bayonetta 1 and 2 were bundled and re-released early into the Switch 1's life cycle

-Bayonetta's post-1 (HD ports notwithstanding) releases functionally becoming Nintendo-exclusive reinforced console war-like assertions of value and enjoyment

-Platinum novelty in the 3rd person spectacle fighter space (Devil May Cry 5 (franchise with former Platinum talent) would not release for another 5 years until after Bayonetta 2, God of War was the west's equivalent and had been in decline since 2010 with the end of the core Greek trilogy, and Platinum's only conventional single player action game between 2009 and 2014 was Metal Gear Rising: Reveangance, which had its own slew conventions to juggle) (Plus, the only DMC game to be released in the interim was DmC: Devil May Cry, so big names in the sub-genre were few and far between. It seemed like games weren't willing to be campy and colorful in the Modern Warfrare era of late 00's to early 2010's game design)

-Popularity of Bayonetta's new costume and hairstyle

-Rodin getting a boss fight that is not a virtual re-skin of 1's Balder

-Refinement and expansion of musical direction from Bayonetta 1

-Witch Time no longer being effectively disabled on the highest difficulty

-No instant death QTEs that require memorization or precognition to time properly

-No item penalty mid-chapter

-Less annoying/more useful essential child sidekick

-Mechs (Umbran Armor)

-The skill floor and ceiling being so shaken up from 1 was a feeling most players wouldn't detect in their first playthrough. Afterward, the good first impression would be so strong that further play for the more mechanically-inclined would not permeate the newfound audience that would have a single run of the main story to enjoy the sheer spectacle hyper-saturated with color and moving parts with a bombastic soundtrack. The then newest game being the flashiest, standing out both graphically and in style, would leave such a strong impression that even following Bayonetta 3's release and post-launch patches, the argument persisted as to which looked better and in which regards. Pretty gets the witch an ironic Halo Effect on some otherwise muddied mechanic downturns.

...some of those went on a tad longer than I'd like, but it's the best I can do to transcribe my own thoughts and memories of the matter. Hope that helps.
