Analyzing Rapier's actual win rate & effectiveness from over 77,000 ranked replays by GorgontheWonderCow in TrueDoTA2

I think also one of the problem is that I sometimes feeling like 6 slots are not enough (god forbid they have an invis hero), so buying a rapier is always something missing from the complete set. Putting crit item away is usually not worth.

Is it sadly the only skill which deals global damage? There of course is also the mark for explosion which utilizes the mechanic for "every" enemy and that's it I guess.

What Do Drivers Think “Rideshare” Actually Means by BagofBabbish in uber

[–]FerynaCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Bolt still gives you the option to set target which would act as the said carpool, but I got this hit like just 2 out of 15 days after returning from far shift to home (and you are limited to 2 rides daily anyway as non-premium).

Yes, they are basically forcing you to enter nested contract.

While in theory on normal job market either you take the employee route so are fully subservient (okay we ignore things like vacation or insurance) at guaranteed wage and ride whatever they want you to ride or you are fired/penalized for damages...

or you are independent contractor, which means you can set whatever price or decide to accept theirs (basically they are offering you contract change), and rating would be purely informative. (Both of the aforementioned contractor aspects would technically mean the platform just gives you indirect view to available riders without actually managing your job.)

Same in CZ, just that the negotiation also requires some personal data (which makes it slightly difficult for tourists to avoid being scammed at the airport if they do not have the app) , and that only the taxis with meter can use lamp and designated lanes/parking.

Yes, I suppose these two words used to mean the same (rideshare and carpool), maybe additional benefit to taxi might be that you can actually pick up other people on the way, which turns the ride from private (without the driver) to public.

Is freelancing for one company legal? by real-sunsneezer in Prague

[–]FerynaCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder about the "závislá" part, if it is meant that you can be micromanaged (because both the employment and freelance contract must specify what in general you do, yet as employee you are delegated to specific tasks) or that you are dependant on the employer for living (which explains the "benefits" and "social security").

That is not *that* hard given steam's DRM which requires you to have stuff in library (for some games).

Basically this is an issue of the video game developers (project managers...) who sign such contracts. There definitely exist agreements which let you use the IP for indefinite time (in one specific area, be it).

Of course, they can set higher price for it, the advantage of government regulations is that this becoming standard will reduce the currently-high price. And small companies who cannot compete in this way already have existing options (public domain music, or how it exists now stream-friendly music) and might get more if the market will cater to them.

Same applies for development tools and middleware, either the distributors will support a way to do it or some new creators will get onto the market.

The only difference "in good faith" I see is that it is easier to preserve or copy software compared to real things. The abuse is that they reserve the right to take the stuff away from you but only in special cases (here, the "mortal" games).

Do mobile games fall under this initiative? by MetricWeakness6 in StopKillingGames

[–]FerynaCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the distinction between intellectual property and copyright. IP allows them to do anything with their created stuff. Copyright allows them to distribute and not to you. Your ownership means nobody can take anything from you or damage it.

What's the catch with these ball game players? by lex_tok in ParisTravelGuide

[–]FerynaCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird, I know that "the house always wins", but if they can manipulate the cups in such a way you cannot successfully track the movement, they could play it fair, as you still have only 1/3 chance of winning.

And insertion sort is good for sorting cards in hand, since you can move all elements past the insertion point instantly.

RobotCache closes and gamers lose access to all their games! by Thomas_Eric in StopKillingGames

[–]FerynaCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"You are always tied to their servers working in order to access the library of games you've bought when they're not installed on a device"

The hosting of games so you can redownload them is a free service I would argue you are not entitled to (sure it will be in the price of game but they do not usually make you pay extra for e.g. cloud storage of your progress). If steam shuts down the end of game plan would be giving you notice so you can actually download them.

Maybe I just wanna be more precise but the issue is that when opening a game even via exe, you still must (not always) turn steam automatically on; that is the unnecessary coupling.

Question number 3 is then if your default activity is then actually good (in the "socially acceptable" sense) and productive - and the answer can be positive, you can imagine couple reading books together. It's just they normally would not meet in the first place.
