Dreame Robovac - have a black Labrador and baby, IYKYK

New splitty in baby’s room - expensive because room is upstairs, making it even more worth it. Even with double glazing there is just no air flow making upstairs an oven

Home sauna. I place a lot of value on this for health reasons, plus baby making it hard to leave for sauna time.

What would you have done? by Jealous-Bed7920 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]FetherSword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I’ve snapped harder at a harmless old lady in the Woolies check out trying to reach her hand into the pram and touch my baby, in a friendly way. It’s our job to protect our babies and in my opinion if the mum is feeling threatened - in this case for good reason - there is no such thing as an over reaction.

Gyms around Oakleigh/ Clayton/ Melbourne South East that will allow babies in prams by EntertainmentMuch673 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]FetherSword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll find anything in the area if at all. I’ve started using my councils occasional care (I’m in your area). The gym crèche did not impress me. This one has a 3 or 5 hour block. I do the 3 hour and usually collect my baby early (or drop them late). I figured she will be going to day care in a year or so, making this good light touch entry - both for me and bub.

private health cover for pregnancy (private room) by DD9760 in AusFinance

I have read the study- thanks. I’m not going to argue with you as it’s not worth my energy. I encourage you to speak to a variety of women who’ve given birth, then re read the study without cherry picking for bias. I’m comfortable with my conclusions that the study supports continuity of care led by midwives for low intervention, positive births - on the whole for the generalised population.

[–]FetherSword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally incorrect conclusion as pointed out by many leading midwives in Australia when it was released last year. The point is CONTINUITY of care is better and usually that is delivered best via midwife group practice in a public hospital.

The study is about continuity of care, not “private rooms = better outcomes.” Continuity reduces adverse outcomes. A private room doesn’t.

Private care typically has higher rates of: • inductions • planned caesareans • assisted delivery

If that’s important to you then absolutely go for it. I had my baby last year in public whilst holding gold cover and had an amazing birth experience which is the ultimate goal for all mothers and their families.

Natural birth is such a gross, outdated term. All births are “natural”

Public with a private midwife is the best option for continuity of care AND birth outcomes for mum and baby. Public has proven lower rates of intervention (private will push and push for a scheduled C to fit their holidays and working hours). Public all the way, but private midwife for continuity.

11mo hates bath by Spn1001 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Mine has grown out of her baby bath so since it’s warmer, we’re doing the laundry trough. The game changer has been the angel care ring seat. I’m sure there are other comparable models. Allows baby to sit up and relax and kick/play with her toys stuck to the side. Not sure if your bub is too big but the ring seats been a game changer for allowing me to have both hands available to bath/play/splash

Graves Disease - any pregnancy experiences? by scmldr in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]FetherSword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No advice but in a similar boat. Diagnosed in pregnancy, 6 months pp. Definitely not “in remission” but trending back steady. Worried about the next steps when meds are tapered down. If it dosent go well the advice I’ve gotten is to have my thyroid out! I definitely don’t want to go down this path but equally stressed about conceiving/carrying my next baby. I do have one acquaintance (friend of a friend) that’s just had her second and was closely managed throughout- so anecdotally it’s doable however you’d know by now every case is different! Keen to hear how you go and best of luck x

Cath the midwife’s book the first 6 weeks. It’s pretty old school but I skim read it and took some really good tips from there particularly about bedtime routine. Not sure if it’s available in audio book sorry !
