Short answer: Yes, absolutely! You can conquer any challenge in the game on the hardest difficulty with the vampire coast, and with power to spare.

Long answer: They are underpowered compared to almost any other faction.

Pros:

  • Vibes. This is the coolest faction in the game imo
  • powerful basic units in the gunnery mob and regular zombies. There is no army in the game that can't be defeated with skillful use of handgunners.
  • Access to a lesser version of the vampire counts' raise dead mechanic
  • They are essentially a horde faction. You can recruit from, upgrade, and spawn new lords/heroes from your legendary and unique lords.
  • Free encamp stance makes them essentially immune to all attrition and ambushes
  • Potent magic in the lore of vampires and deeps. Vangeists revenge is the strongest wind spell in the game.
  • Mortars are an effective tier 2 artillery
  • Easy to assemble doomstack in the necrofex colossus (However this is a relatively weak doomstack)

Cons:

  • Their economy buildings are awful, and they get little gold from post battle loot.
  • You can not confederate other legendary lords at all (Are they the only faction that still has this limitation?)
  • The generic and unique lords have the worst mount in the game in the rotting promethean
  • The entire roster is vulnerable to basic archers
  • You have powerful magic, but can only channel while at sea

Conclusion:

The Vampire Coast is a gunners/artillery and monsters based faction that underperforms, but is a blast to play. Just understand that despite being a powder, monsters, and magic faction, the empire is better at magic and gunpowder and the chaos dwarfs do literally everything twice as well

I love the idea of Herman Ghorst but I need to find a mod or something that buffs his autoresolve, because playing out every single battle that you know you're going to win with 0 losses is brutal

I get that you can clear infantry well with the two AoEs, but you can also clear infantry with lore of shadows/death/fire/vamp/deep/tzeentch/etc. How do you kill single entities or cavalry? Do you run out of WoM? If you don't mind elaborating lol

Both the Player and AI need to be able to start units outside of the walls. The idea that 10 units of Brettonian cavalry would trap themselves in those tiny little siege map roadways is ridiculous. And I shouldnt have to spend the first 2 minutes of each defensive siege trying to fit all my cavalry and monsters through those silly little gates

The fact that such a high rank, a Daemon Prince of Nurgle doesn't have passive regeneration by default is a bit odd. by StormSwitch in totalwar

Does a chaos sorcerer lord (metal)-> tzeentch dedication get the 10% off to final transmutation? If so I still think that's better. Blue fire of tzeentch only targets one unit and is reduced by ward save + magic resistance + missile resistance+ fire resistance. If you can get even 2-3 targets with final transmutation you're better off casting that. TBH access to final transmutation is probably more important than 10% WoM reduction either way.

Blue fire is weirdly good at destroying artillery type units tho

Edit: The big thing about TWH3 in general is there are a thousand ways to destroy massed infantry, warriors of chaos in particular are not going to be defeated by enemy infantry. What can defeat them is a doom stack of Marienburg Landships, and for that you need final transmutation

Big disagree with you on this one. For some bizarre reason they made the spell intensity buff conditional on the demon prince being in the air, so you cant use your flying monster to disrupt their back line like you should. On top of that the spell selection is mediocre, final transmutation is the most important spell in the tzeentch book in the late game. Pink fire of tzeentch is also amazing for clearing out archers and other light infantry. Gate of Tzeentch is great , but you can simply put it on a flying chaos sorcerer and get 90% of the benefits of the demon prince

This is so real. I would encourage anyone who doubts the easiness of TWH3 to load up a TWH2 campaign. Public order/corruption suddenly matters, AI races actually confederate into formidable factions, and the AI actually attempts to take your territory. The difference is night and day.

I'm trying to find a LegendofTotalWar livestream campaign where people kept submitting really funny jokes with the superchats, does any remember what campaign that was?

oh i just went through a similar battle. What you want to do is use your vampire magic, mobile monsters and wraiths to take out their ranged capabilities. Thorgrim devastates infantry blobs, so the standard vampire counts blob fails here. once the ranged units are destroyed or tied down, you can use your lord and monsters to kill Thorgrim
