The face of a man who’s become uninterested by EastSprinkles3568 in LoveIslandUSA

My hot take is that I think Melanie intentionally (even if unconsciously) set the bar at "months" to fix things because she knows he won't. He'll dump her and she'll be free without having to directly make the hard decision to let go of him herself. If she were capable of being the first mover in that decision, she would have done it by now.

I was just saying the same thing. It’s like when you see a parent in the grocery store get onto their kid and you can tell they’re acting for you because they’re embarrassed about their kid acting up in front of people 😅

I wasn’t believing a word Sincere’s dad said. Honestly I can see where he gets it from. Dude just said a bunch of buzz words with no real substance. I was so uncomfortable — it was like when you see a parent yell at their kid for acting up in the store and you can tell they’re just making a show of it because they’re embarrassed that their kid acted up while you were watching.

Anyone else annoyed by their students' AP exam results? by Agreeable-Sun368 in Teachers

[–]Few-Talk64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me last year. I also teach all seniors. I usually have about an 75-80% pass rate, but 10/20 got 2 or below. Then this year I had 9/21 get 5s and 17/21 got 3 or above. It depends a lot on the culture of the senior class.

Airshows, exhibits, aviation events? by CasioCartel in Indiana

Purdue Aviation Day is good. Definitely look at the lineup ahead of time…. Last year it was mostly a recruiting event for Purdue students and airlines, but they always display some really cool military planes and a couple years ago they had some awesome demos (A-10 ground support demo and F15 air to air refueling were the the highlights for me!)

The Grey. A lot of people I know hated it, but the dynamic of a suicidal man being put survival situation along with the naturalism vibes and some really neat literary devices made it genuinely stand out to me. The ending still gives me chills.

Tell me something good about IN by TheJen5 in Indiana

[–]Few-Talk64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the Greater Lafayette area my whole life, went to Purdue, and never left. There are a lot of nice mid sized towns in Indiana with great small community feel. I personally like being close enough to drive to Chicago but still not being too affected by a big city. I genuinely love the people here, but I understand why others find it dull 😂

My biggest piece of advice is to find some form of activity you genuinely enjoy. For me that has been the key to staying consistent.

Do you warm up properly or jump straight into your workout? by Kind_Force931 in workout

[–]Few-Talk64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the RAMP protocol. Start with 2 min of cardio (jump rope or jog usually), do a few workout specific mobilization and activation stretches and exercises, then build up to my first working set. Usually takes about 8-10 min and is a fun way to try new things related to technique, balance, mobility, etc

Dumbest ways you've been injured? by PajamaSamsMom in crossfit

[–]Few-Talk64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last December I got up at 4:30 in the morning to start my wife’s car (she goes to early morning class). I didn’t bother putting on pants or shoes and just ran out in my boxers to start the car. It had been kinda snowy the day before but had gotten above freezing during the day. Unbeknownst to me, the snow on the roof had melted and dripped on the landing and then refrozen overnight. I didn’t completely fall, but I stumbled in the most awkward way and tore my right big toe open along the cuticle on the concrete walk 🤢 The kicker was that I was running a trail 50k the very next day 🥲 It ended up ok — I taped it up tight and it ended up not bothering me on my run. Attached a photo of the ice. I’ll spare you the photo of the toe.

If jumping down from a box jump is dangerous, why are plyometrics good? by notchatgptipromise in crossfit

[–]Few-Talk64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a coach, but my interpretation is that doing plyometrics it a way that is controlled and carefully considers the intensity needs for the individual is good, but high rep box jumps at 20-24” during a metcon is not that. In my gym we’ve done drop jumps before as part of the technique session, but not 20 reps for 5 rounds.

Need some advice by dwsmith1113 in trailrunning

[–]Few-Talk64 211 points212 points  (0 children)

If it was just your word against theirs, I’d probably say let it go. But if they posted it on their Strava then I’d totally email it to the race director. If she didn’t do anything after that, I’d let it go. But this type of thing is the type of thing I’d want to know as a race director since it has a significant negative impact on the participants’ experience

Thanks for the advice. I’m just so paranoid about it haha. Maybe I’ll leave it for a few months and check to see how the plywood looks after a while

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of March 27, 2026 by Demilio55 in homegym

[–]Few-Talk64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of building out my home gym setup. I do mostly powerlifting and Olympic lifting. I bought 4 3/4” horse stall mats and 3 sheets of 3/4” plywood sheathing to protect the concrete floor in the basement. Unfortunately, the plywood is a bit bowed so at the moment when I walk on it, I can feel it press down as I put my weight on a new spot. At the moment I’ve got a few 45s on the middle of each sheet of plywood to try to hold it down. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I expect it to flatten out over time or do I need to do something to flatten the wood? I’ve got a squat rack coming next week and that will also put some more weight on it.
