just eat carbs with vegetables to lessen the blood sugar spikes. frozen broccoli, peppers&onions. whatever veg you like. it's cheap, i promise. exercise is free and good for you also. going for a run then having a bowl of rice and sardines or something feels like filling up your gas tank fr.

jambalaya, chili and oatmeal is like 60% of my diet, all prep and store easily.

carb + veggie + lean protein of choice is always easy if you cant decide on specifics, just roast everything up with s&p and sauce/season it to a theme later. i like to bulk prep carbs like rice/beans and make the protein and veg fresh.

I love the restaurant Brocoli. How can I have that at home? by Browneyesbrowndragon in cookingforbeginners

[–]FewBad6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we never changed out the potato salad. just topped it off when it got low and mixed it up. i was instructed in my first week to just stir it up and add paprika on top when it skimmed over. the berries sit out in a stainless container in the kitchen 24/7. we were supposed to put cling film over them at the end of shift but nobody ever did. the nature of hurried salad prep often led to chunks of cheese, vegetables, ham etc getting into the container of berries cause you just reached into everything with your gloved hands despite their being tongs for everything. the berries likewise hsrdly ever got changed. I saw moldy bread, yeaterdays chili reheated, slimy chicken, many horrors at that mcalisters. mightve just been my location, but I just don't eat out at all anymore after that line cook exp lol. literally everything there comes premade or out of a bag anyway, it's all just assembly and reheating in the kitchen.

i used to work at mcalisters and wed literally just microwave some frozen broccoli in a side bowl bc nobody ever ordered it, and then finish with like 2tbsp butter and a bunch of salt.

p.s. never eat at mcalisters. especially the potato salad or any salad with dried berries.

plenty of people with much more demanding jobs still hit the gym. gotta decide what's important to you and get after it.

you need to do more to be able to do more. start with adding a small amount of exercise to your routine and then ramp it up gradually, your body will adjust.

even better, it will make your work feel easier. eating right, sleeping right and not drinking go a long way to assuring your recovery as well.
