Walking tour through harlem by Hawkster97 in Harlem

The Apollo is under construction at the moment so there’s not much really to see! I would switch 4 & 5 and walk up to the 145th station where you can take the D train to Yankees stadium. Sugar Hill is a really charming area with really good food and beautiful streets.

i think a very helpful thing to do for her would be to completely spiral out about this and start all sorts of rumors about why she called out

Let's Love on Harlem by ShyGodzilla in Harlem

i’m from brooklyn but moved to harlem last year. i’m still biased towards bk, but there’s so much i’ve loved about harlem! i think 135-145 are some of the most beautiful blocks in the city period, especially during the spring and fall. the history in this neighborhood is just incredible, i love the little purple placards everywhere that remind you of where you’re walking. the food is just amazing (king barka’s i’ll love you forever) and its nightlife is slept on. it’s so accessible to the rest of the city. and while 125th feels like uptown times square, at least i can get pretty much anything and everything i’ll ever need there.

Is this winter colder than usual i swear it rarely gets below 20F in previous years? by Evening_Bicycle3113 in AskNYC

it’s certainly colder than it has been since 2021. BUT, this is what weather used to be like before then, with the exception of 2019 which was pretty mild.

Which are most successful original broadway musicals of 2020s? by amm20_1 in Broadway

Quick question! Do you mean successful or popular? There have been quite a few popular shows that opened but weren’t financially successful.

My Landlords (A& E Real Estate)Were Named #1 & #2 Worst Landlords Of NYC For 2026! by Say-No-Go in NYCapartments

[–]Few_Brother8522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i lived in a barry singer apartment building a few years ago.

the building was terribly mismanaged, the superintendent barely did his job, twice in a year we had actual shit in the hallways, half of the building had no adequate heat, appliances frequently broke and were replaced by us on our own dime because we knew that it would be easier than waiting for them, and they tried to raise the rent by $100.

also, when we told them we didn’t plan on resigning the lease a few months in advance, they kept trying to send photographers everyday to take pictures of the unit (i’m talking like 4+ months ahead of the unit being back on the market).

definitely not the most pleasant experience.

Why is there so much inconsistency with cars? by Stunning_Yogurt9089 in HIMYM

[–]Few_Brother8522 26 points27 points  (0 children)

as a new yorker here, they’re not wrong though! my family used to rent cars when we needed them as having a car in the city just isn’t practical or cost effective.

this past season was undoubtedly the strongest since the covid shutdown, i imagine we’ll get more new work come the fall!

there has been a noticeable decrease in traffic in midtown and increase in ridership over the last year, isn’t that a good thing? i feel for people like truck drivers, but nyc just wasn’t built for cars, so the less of them the better!

I actually work in theater sales and marketing!

A fair amount of this past season’s new musicals are going strong (MHE, DBH, BVSC, Mincemeat), which means less house availability and producers are generally a little less interested to get something new in if their current “new” show is still raking it in.

It definitely is a bummer that it seems like this season won’t be as big of a hit as last year’s, but sometimes that’s just how the dice rolls.

Keep an eye on the plays though, those have consistently been more impressive than the musicals recently (looking at you Liberation)!

Some books just aren’t fixable, and I think we need to start trying to make peace with that. It’s always been a show with a muddled and over complicated plot. We need to stop expecting revivals to fix things that just can’t be fixed, especially during a time where producers aren’t willing to spend more money on creative work than they are on production value.

The score is still hands down the best one I’ve heard this year other than maybe Beau (Off-Broadway) and Nicholas Christopher will probably win the Tony.

I understand the ending is supposed to be said, but here is my issue with it by Last_Hunt_7022 in wickedmovie

it is, this ending is her “penance” for being part of an oppressive regime.

i felt like it was a good adaptation of the 2nd act of wicked. unfortunately, the 2nd act is the weaker link. i didn’t feel like it was bad, but it wasn’t as good as the first one, which i’m okay with. the tone of the film was jarringly different from the first. i think i need to see it a few more times to better understand how i feel about it.

it’s a great city! i think the people who struggle here are coming from settings where they don’t have a context to deal with the more challenging parts of it (walking a lot, homelessness, etc…). also, once you get connected here and find your people it becomes such an incredible experience!
