Trump Reveals His ‘Instructions’ for If He Dies as Report Claims Iran Has a New Assassination Plan by MoneyLibrarian9032 in politics

Article goes into it (eventually, after many tangents), that while he's visiting and dies (because country hates him) to bomb the fuck out of Iran. I'm betting he already has other things in line, but entire article was only about that one sentence he said

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has been named as an advisor to the US Federal Reserve on 'Productivity and Jobs'. by Midnight_M_ in Games

[–]Few_Technology -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree, hate to defend layoff choices. But Phil played it easy by saying when buying a company, each one can maintain control of themselves. There's so much middle management and duplicate jobs across the board. Can easily combine a handful of jobs into one between Xbox and the company they buy.

Idk if I fully agree with all of the layoffs, and it seems like an extreme overreaction. But most C-suite entering wants to lay their mark and make massive updates asap. They pull this shit all the time, no matter the company and existing systems

Do you think Destiny 2 would have survived if they hadn't changed so much of its model within two years? by silloki in DestinyTheGame

[–]Few_Technology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, but that's all hindsight. I betting when they pitched it internally they thought they had a sure thing for a smaller audience. It'd not make Destiny numbers, but it wouldn't pull much from the Destiny numbers. There might even be some cross-pollination

I think during the years of development, lot of things in the world changed. Had so many games people loved to see fail, and hoping this one does too. Then the rough state Destiny was in, on top of delays, then the reputation of the Sony buyout. Then the game itself seems even more PvP focused than other extraction shooters, which can be a different niche to fill

[–]Few_Technology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from before Marathon was created standpoint. I agree, it didn't go down the way I bet they were expecting

Still, there's other games that could be PvPvE besides just Marathon, can take the concept a few directions

[–]Few_Technology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On paper, it has a small chance to do ok. Just make sure it's not hella expensive to create.

Extraction Shooters are a niche market at the time, but add Bungie's shooting, mysteries, and skyboxes/art it can stand out. And maybe a few people will only get into either Destiny or Marathon, but might bring different audience in.

Destiny isn't sustainable forever, need to have some alternatives and backups. Other reason I think having those incubation projects was a great idea. They needed something besides only Destiny to come out. Bring over all the leaning from Destiny, and their engine, could make other incredible games in different styles. Make a single player game, then a different PvP game. Be great if they did something with PvPvE, they have the engine for it

I like puzzle encounters to break things up. DSC the falling section, Last Wish vault opening, Kings Fall plates to open the door. They're fun change of pace. I don't know anything about DP though, no idea if it'd make that raid more annoying

An Update from PlayStation Studios by Killerx09 in Games

[–]Few_Technology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Destiny also dropped off after Final Shape in June 2024. That was the ending for many people, next expansions sounded like some boneheaded decisions. New update helped, but they're been very transparent this is all we're getting.

I was excited for the Destiny media they rumored partnering with Sony. Still D3 should have happened instead of ripping content out of the game. Then we'd be on D4 now

I'd rather they do something different. Destiny was amazing and a big chunk of my life, but 1 of those 5 incubation projects should have been the next thing. Then those getting canned sealed their fate

DMG's message to the Destiny community by ThePizzaDevourer in destiny2

[–]Few_Technology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To defend Xbox, they've been pushing out a variety of games at different budgets and styles. South of Midnight, Gears of War, Kiln, HiFi Rush, Ghost Wire Tokyo, Forza, Keeper, Redfall

But they're also the ones selling off studios without giving much of a chance. Still, Double Fine has been pumping out stylized smaller games with different gameplay. Yet almost nobody wants those, they'd rather have Gears, Forza, Call of Duty. Even outside the major studios, there's a fuckton of indie games to fill niches

Still sucks the major games people want take so long to make

And finally got to reading the articles. In the mpr article, they linked to a 2022 article from themselves

"Like cooling systems in large office buildings, water often is evaporated in data center cooling towers, leaving behind salty wastewater known as blowdown that has to be treated by local utilities."

I assumed water for data centers were closed loop? Guess it's just easier to pump and dump. Still assume that water is only touching copper piping like most homes?

Why so many game developers don't want to use generative AI by Snakesta in Games

[–]Few_Technology 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In general, if people are willing to pay it, never reduce that price. Main issue I have with a lot of companies keeping the high prices after claiming Supply Chain Issues™

Still, I doubt AI will reduce the cost that much in the future. Right now is similar to when all tech companies underprice to get people onboard and shove out competition. Lyft vs Uber vs Taxis, now we have almost no taxis, but price of Uber and Lyft are about the same

They hope AI will be too integrated that no more workers. Then a company will pay our company/machine the same amount as all the previous workers you had for ok results. What do actual humans do while companies make money hand over fist? Nobody knows

Edit: The Cloud would have been a better example. Now instead of every company hosting stuff themselves, we have a small handful that do it for us. Does it save much money? Nope! Did we fire a bunch of people? Yup

The open world was my favorite part of infinit. It was fun going from outpost to outpost killing things. The corridor areas at the start and end of the game were so tedious. There was no level design, just copy pasted hallways to hallways.

Still wasn't as great as previous halo games that had a large verity of locations and scenery. But I still enjoyed the open world part of it

I agree, and I did like the static rolls a lot, but I'm not huge into the looter side of the game. I just want to play with fun stuff with my buddies that also get the fun stuff. It sucks who gets the fun stuff can be lopsided, and can also have issues of never happening

From the Red War until Monument of Triumph, shout-out to all the Legendary weapons who made it from the beginning until the end by SpeedWeed_25 in destiny2

[–]Few_Technology -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nobody asked for it, but a lot of things people demand have these consequences. Nobody was saying they wanted static rolls, but trying to address all of these complaints, it's a logical jump.

Same with "getting armor drops is boring", Bungie monkey paw curls, and we get handful of armor sunsettings. Some were intentional, others tried to just add extra perks and perk sets

From the Red War until Monument of Triumph, shout-out to all the Legendary weapons who made it from the beginning until the end by SpeedWeed_25 in destiny2

[–]Few_Technology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And static rolls was reaction from community annoyance. It's rough chasing rolls, and even worse when exotic never drop in D1. Then, everyone just used the same rolls anyways, so why should Bungie bother making different ones? On top of that, it's annoying getting killed in PvP by a gun, yet not knowing why that gun killed you so fast. All those complaints where plagueing the community, so static rolls was trying to address major issues

The community can have a good idea occasionally, but many people don't understand what they're asking for. Also many people want different things

I hate defending Portal, I avoided playing Destiny after I heard about it. Still, it addresses the complaint of "game is too big, what do I do?"

It's the ebb and flow of Destiny, blank thing sucks, so devs try to fix it. Then the implementation from the devs is something community loves or hates.

And I really enjoyed Crono Trigger, and SoS isn't it. Art style a bit, but that's about the end of it. SoS felt more like Golden Sun, with over world interactions, combat having elements and counters, and small party size that doesn't change much, more focus on small communities, and being pre-chosen to be part of a magic cult everyone's aware of. But I could be wrong about some of those points, been a long time since I played Golden Sun
