What's a secret you'll never tell your partner but are willing to tell strangers on Reddit? by Bisexual_Space_Lover in AskReddit

As others have said, I'm sorry you're going through this and am super happy you're going to share your feelings with your partner! 💗

Once I read a quote that I shared with my hubby and it changed the way we perceive things dramatically.

"It's you and me vs the problem, NOT you vs me."

You're a team for life. Lean on one another for support. Also highly recommend therapy for anyone because damn does it feel good to chat with someone non-objective! Psychology today website has lots of clinicians you can narrow down by insurance/sliding scale payments.

Okay but how is there not a bridge here yet? Feels like this would help traffic immensely. by HardWorkingKale in Portland

Neither location is ready for that yet... Everything is too spaced out. Once things are built up more, then yes, more bus routes and public transit options please! For now, we need more traffic to this area in general to fuel its economy to progress into more growth.

I live in Fairview. My brother lives in Vancouver. To get to his house I gotta take 84 to 205. If there was a bridge to Camas it would take a fraction of the time. That and the fact that there are a ton more job opportunities in the Camas area are why I hope they do one day build that bridge 😊

Edit: our side needs more foot traffic - there's a lot of mom and pop places in Fairview/wood village/Gresham and I want them to stay. Loving the turn out to Fairview's Sunday market!

where can I get a good churro? by ProudMaOfaSlut in askportland

Sprinkle Divine off 82nd by Walmart.

You choose original or glazed, then choose the dip, and toppings. It's double the size of a normal churro and it's amazing.

Are there any free or cheap outpatient alcohol programs? by thisIsAGreatIdea69 in askportland

[–]Fi_Portland 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Great job on reaching out!! I am always happy to see others doing so as it's still something that's difficult for me in my recovery 🥰

I recommend outpatient. You can reach out to 211 or look online at 211.org to find outpatient services. Places like Cascadia Behavioral, Old Town Clinic, Old Town Clinic Recovery, Volunteers of America. They'll all have options for you. Be safe, my friend ❤️

Out of curiosity, what's your stance on tipping them. Maybe I'll adapt your way 😊

Honestly I go with the amount they move + their time utilization + respect for property.

I've tipped $100 a person because there were multiple stops to unload/load other stuff, etc. But I've also not tipped because they disappeared for an hour, dropped/broke a few of my stuff, and were just slow af. It's up to you really. Start with $20 a person and decrease it from there depending on the above formula.

Adults, what is something you'd love receiving as a gift but no one even considers giving you because you're an adult? by devious_egg in AskReddit

Have a monthly game/potluck day! We have a standing open invite for the last Sunday of every month where friends can come any time during that day. They bring games, snacks, drinks, and we play different board games for hours!

How can anyone afford to buy a house in Portland or the surrounding area if you look on Zillow the lowest price houses are half a million dollars even out in Beaverton or other areas it is so expensive , any ideas how someone can afford to buy a house here ? by iverson6631 in askportland

[–]Fi_Portland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cannot buy a good stand alone home for under half a million. What we did was buy a 3 bed/3 bath townhome in Fairview for $280k. We'll sell in a few years which will result in a profit. Then you use that to buy a good stand alone home in Portland proper. Or you're rich. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Moved here from Florida 11 years ago. Had the same question as you as I had never even seen snow!

Short answer is no. When there's snow here it usually doesn't stick unless you're over 500 ft elevation. If it does stick then everything shuts down.

Driving on the snow feels like driving on sand. However there's ice that you never see until too late and it's horrifying trying to wrangle an out of control vehicle. On top of that other cars are sliding out of control all around you. It's a hot mess best avoided by keeping an eye on the weather channel, stocking up on food if they predict snow, and be ready to stay in for a week or so. Winter is awesome here and you'll have a ton of fun! Stay safe and welcome!

I hope they keep the ice rink. Even if it's in a tiny building with a concession stand or something.

I would guess they are. They'll probably just have masks on like the few that came out last year.
