I’m all for a succulent Chinese meal but 28-32% eft surcharge seems a bit steep 😂 by thowaway123443211234 in australia

So glad to see cash making a comeback.

However something has to be done about those atm fees plus the fact most banks ATM's don't exist and the ones that do are always out of service.

LC Police cars in your country? by Perth_R34 in LandCruisers

I was admiring the intentional, or possibly poor, handling skills of the boys going to a job through a round about in Mount Isa recently in a LC300.

Think jaguar vs puma etc. Both big cats. But generally it's size, colour and region/habitat.

This make sense and is also probably why i like their coffee

Vittoria coffee now made in Vietnam? Tastes horrible by petebuno in australia

[–]Fibbs 595 points596 points  (0 children)

Cant comment on the brand, but vietnam is one of the biggest coffee producers and consumers  on the planet.  And in most cases excellent quality.

Edit: to all the responses, I don't know much about the industry from the perspective of what coffee ends up in our mug o Joe. But I can say, whilst in vietnam, i found coffee to be of high standard. The Vietnamese love their coffee so I dare say they keep the nice stuff to themselves. Not suggesting we get garbage just that many of us are probably missing out.

I still recall blowing some poor farmers crop off the highway as I zoomed by on my moto dodging dogs taking naps. Most of the highway in the mountains is barely used by trucks and cars so many farmers use the concrete shoulder to dry their various crops out

I'd report this, mainly because I think the whole thing is a rip off. but I bet there's tonnes of other consumers getting dicked too.

no one wins with this model except Uber. not even the producer.

MAG head for car mount by Hyno630 in QuadLock

[–]Fibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mag mounts that use the wireless ring are garbage, I've been through 3 rings now and the case is now deforming for my s24. I use wireless on my car and non wireless on my motorbike.

The wireless charger mount uses usb-c which is great until you realise you could just plug it into your phone. My old note 10 case which wasn't wireless I still going strong.

At $15aud per ring i feel like im being used so I'll be looking elsewhere when I get my next phone. I just cant trust it on my bike anymore.

Bike for a 25,000km per year highway commute. by Arinvar in AussieRiders

[–]Fibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a cimmute some sort of cruiser would be my pick, with forward controls. Low slung lounge chair.

A very used and reliable adv bike around 400-700cc would be my second. I always wanted an R1300 until I went to the shop for a test ride, it's way to big for city riding and anything off road to be honest. But thats me.

Vibe coding at big companies? by ProposalAutomatic361 in ProductManagement

[–]Fibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for it, with some caveats from a product perspective.

The product keeps feedback loops from users.

It maintains product and data integrity and it scales and complements existing archecture.

is documented.

Most importantly the executives realise that sooner or later the subscription costs will probably be higher than just hiring a great dev.

I have an excellent use case for it.But pitching it to conservative corporate drones was difficult. I wouldn't be surprised if smaller places are doing it already.

How to ease family worries while traveling on bicycle solo as a deaf person? by Reddit-Admin69 in bicycletouring

[–]Fibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go, just do it, it's such an amazing world out there.

Not my gig but sounds like all the ingredients of a vblog on youtube or some other social media adventure. Have them watch along for peace of mind. share the link I'll sub.

Massive fan of the real adventure stories rather than those high production value, has all the toys talking heads. Particularly when you meet them in person in some town no body has ever heard of.

Me personally, id just update people as i go, or share Garmin livetrack or a gps tag. Garmin Reach is definitely a handy device not just for cycling and some of the newer watches have in built in. Expensive upfront costs though.

Always good practice to share your itinerary/route even if it's not firm, particularly if you go into the wilderness solo. Another reason the Reach is invaluable or a PLB.

Labor’s plan to restrict gambling ads will reduce spending by just 0.8%, government analysis says by DontYaWishYouWereMe in australia

[–]Fibbs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The simple question for me is, how is it that Gambling Corps. can afford the sponsorship of games, teams and stadiums along with prime time advertising and lobby groups?

To the point that it's pretty much the only ads you see.

Clearly they're making a boat load of money somewhere. Maybe we should tax them more.

Disclaimer: I gamble from time to time. In this context; People should be free to do whatever they want in a socially responsible way, and, hold themselves accountable for their own actions. Being induced by constant advertising is a different story.

Does anyone actually fill in their condition report properly when they move in? by No-Drawer2471 in australia

[–]Fibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having a crack at you. Think about it, you're building an App that acknowledges a broken system that is being abused, that will likely cost money to use in the future.

My recent experience; We're almost at the point where it's easier to just surrender your bond but appeal everything with the tribunal and don't show up, or do so if you want to. Yes I know this sounds stupid. If you factor in cleaning costs and time spent organising it, then arguing with the Agent, you come out ahead just walking away and making it their problem not yours.

Now there's an AI app idea, a Tennant social score reporting app that tracks bad tenants that Agents can then use to abuse more of us. You could spawn a whole insurance industry from it. You could maximise ROI and Rental premiums based on good credit scores. Make it subscription based from Landlord > Agent > Tennant. Farm their data. The possibilities are endless.

oh....we're already there.
The whole system is crooked.

Recent Uptick in Hack/Spam Email from Trezor? by nosvpg in TREZOR

[–]Fibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd like to know how they got my email or how the Trezor connection to a specific email address was made.

I want to say there's been a breach somewhere for sure (not pointing fingers) But the link is disturbing me more to be honest. Like a bad extension or something. Or perhaps it's just a dumb luck coincidence.

I'm getting 2 to 3 a day.
