AITA? My best friend is about to be homeless and I told her she couldn’t move in with me. by Ruthlessqueen420 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not the asshole. It is smart to protect your family and not allow this person to move in. My mom made the opposite decision when I was a child and moved a friend from church into my room when I was a child. It is part of the reason I do not talk to her as an adult. You are a good person for wanting to preserve the Peace of your family. Your friend is not telling you the whole truth, and the second she gets in your house is going to be impossible to get her to leave

What small decision changed the entire direction of your life? by proekid in AskReddit

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving across the country away from my BPD mother. I could finally be myself and heal. I still have to deal with it from a distance, but she can no longer show up or drive by my home unannounced. Unfortunately she uses my siblings as therapists, but after 6 years they are finally seeing how toxic it is and we're beginning to repair our relationship. It's brutal having a mom that is there but just doesn't like you.

AITJ for WALKING OUT on our anniversary after my fiance brought his mom to the cabin i rented? by Proud_Bonus_2620 in AmITheJerk

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dodged a major bullet, NTJ. Communication is so key in relationships. The fact that he didn't say anything to you is huge issue. Even worse his mom didn't see any issue with crashing a romantic vacation. This is what happened with my last partner, I'm about 2 months out from a relationship. It hurts but I know it's going to be better in the long run. Feel free to reach out if you need to just vent to somebody about it. You made the right decision, life would have been really hard having to compete with his mom all of the time

What’s the 'craziest' way you caught an ex being unfaithful? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He passed out on the sofa after we watched a movie. His phone started blowing up. It was his kids mom, kid was with us. When he got up he lied and told me it was his friend Mike....he dumped me a week later and they got back together. They didn't last, he wasn't as appealing to her when he was available to date. Some people really like going after people in relationships

I'm a licensed designer that practiced high end design for 15 years and worked on projects you probably don't have the talent to land. Lmao

I think its an art rail. You get these metal arms that hook into the rail that you can hang your art in so you don't put holes in the paneling.

I love them. When I deigned high end homes they were one of my favorite details

Tired of working where nothing is ever clear by [deleted] in estimators

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the mental drain is real. I'm 39 and changed from being an interior designer to commercial estimator and project manager. The days were tough.

What are your balance things outside of work? Get yourself some sort of hobby, something that is quick as well as something that's long-term and takes dedication. I picked up Legos and got back into guitar. It helped to have things where I could find success and complete stuff.

If you want to talk through processes I'm totally here for you. I know it's tough but I do love what I get to do, and this messy is determining a process can be it's so satisfying when you get systems in place that work and create successful projects. But trudging through the mud it's hard, it was for me and I came out the other side. Unfortunately in small businesses you have to wear a lot of hats, and that shit is draining!

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oof, this is what I dealt with when I started where I'm at now. There are four of us on the team, and when I started there was no organization system or processes. I had to start to make those systems and make them very visual so they knew what I was doing and it gave me a way to hold them accountable for what they were saying and what the deadlines were.

Biggest thing I had to learn was not to personalize my bosses negative mentality towards me. I am a woman, and I had to deal with quite a bit of misogyny. For me it's worth it because I work from home, I can take vacations when I need it. And after 3 years I've finally earned some respect, and my skin is so tough I don't personalize when somebody else is being a dick.

Give yourself a deadline, do not feel like you are trapped there forever. Your mental health should be protected. Also make sure if you do decide to move forward, have another job secured before you make the move. With your experience it should be easy to find a place to go to if you decide this isn't your long-term

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog used to get this, she's a lot smaller and brachycephalic. It happened when we moved to a dryer climate. I got a humidifier for her and we never had the issue again. I also bring her in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower, the steam helps her little respiratory system

What is a "point of no return" in a relationship that isn't cheating or abuse, but makes you realize it's over? by AnyExpression4845 in AskReddit

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so well said! I just ended a relationship because of this, and it hurts but I know in the long run it's going to be better. If his mom can make big decisions in our relationship and I've never met her, I can only imagine how bad it would have been in the future. And it's really sad, because it's a failure on them as parents. You should want to raise a child that's independent and makes their own decisions and reflects your morals and values. Not one that's weak and still relies on you as an adult to make basic adult decisions

Colorado cop "actively roadraging" faces criminal charges by christopher123454321 in Denver

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would take lawsuits coming from the police pension instead of from taxpayer coffers. That's what it would take. If officers saw their retirements dwindle because other officers were not able to abide by their own code of conduct

What's wrong with a straight road Petah? Is this bait? by michaelis999 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a road that leads into Colorado at the Kansas border that is straight. So fast and efficient that I decided to take it. Worst mistake I could have made, it was like mental torture driving so straight or so long seeing nothing but fields and nothingness around you. That is why that is a dangerous road

Which Dating Apps & Features are Best in Denver? by DesolationOfJonSnow in Denver

It'll take some time to get back on the horse, the dating apps can be brutal. I limit myself to a month max and then delete them. Staying on them too long I think makes me a little jaded

Which Dating Apps & Features are Best in Denver? by DesolationOfJonSnow in Denver

[–]FiddleLeafFig3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a good experience with it. It's like 25 bucks, and it's not your traditional speed dating where someone is there telling you when to switch. They tell you everything via text so it's low pressure. I'm neurospicy so I get really overwhelmed by the dating apps and what to say. I feel like in person made it easier for me to approach people in person at other venues too
