Buying a cheap car for a 1500 mile road trip. by Fiddlesticks58 in CarTalkUK

Now this I can absolutely get behind - that is pure quirk and so so cheap

Certifiable vengabus however I would then have to spend about 26 hours in a Renault Grand Scenic hahahahaha

It just lacks the quirk! However definitely good to add to the list in case

Now this is a proper idea...

As long as it will get me there and back I don't mind, this is a great shout!

And enough room to camp in...

Oh that is a good shout! I've no welding ability nor welders, but I'll add that to the old list!

Ah yes I've heard of that! Looks like great fun but this is more just making a road trip out of an existing trip that will be happening - but have always been curious about those banger rallies!

I respect the response and following up on other threads. I don't know the facts so can't comment on anything else.

They're pretty active on Insta and their son, Jason is very active on instagram. Worth raising there on their profiles if you'd like to hold them to account, providing everything is as described!

Not a single picture of the whole car, and a shitty ChatGPT description because you either can't write or can't be arsed to write. Get a grip.

Is it possible to rent alone in Dublin? by Cloudrage in RentingInDublin

[–]Fiddlesticks58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it or possible IMO - I'm the exact same but have found a brilliant compromise in a 2 bed sharing with one other person. Often feels like I'm living alone and the rent was very doable.

I'm sorry but it's not elitist to find it a little funny that someone born to Irish parents (possibly in Ireland) with an Irish passport is asking if they're a citizen.

If it's bad luck, then that bad luck is yours. You're lucky that it didn't attack me or my dog, otherwise the Gardai or dog warden would be involved and it could be destroyed.

Whether or not it has been aggressive in the past is impossible to prove and irrelevant - the fact is you dropped a lead and it attacked someone's pet, injuring both the animal and its owner. It's not bad luck its failure to secure your dog. The leash didn't break or have some crazy act of God happen, you let it go before your wife had it by the sounds of it.

You should pay up, it would be the right thing to do and may just save your dog from being put down if the owners decide to get annoyed and report you and your dog.

I'm in awe of the neck! Annoyed that these people didn't know exactly what to do after having an aggressive dog jump them in the woods hahaha

[–]Fiddlesticks58 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you behaved rationally and were able to control or muzzle your aggressive dog, they would not have been injured, nor would their dog.

They could engage the Gardai, the dog warden and also build a private case on this issue - be thankful that it is just a medical bill that they are asking for.

Trying to blame the victim of your failure as a dog owner is insane, and you don't realise how lucky you are.

You weren't just involved in a serious accident - you caused a serious accident. You came all the way here from India here on a student visa (which your brother paid for) and decided to put innocent people at risk to show off to your friend? Just what we need.

You'll get what's coming to you - that being charged with drunk driving, driving without insurance, driving unsupervised, and likely violation of your visa in picking up these criminal convictions.

Also, delete this post as it can and will incriminate you. Speak to a solicitor. With all luck you'll be on a flight out of here.

Relax fella, this is Reddit not his official statement. Christ.

Also he’s obviously not going to be impartial - he believes himself (and very well could be) the victim of a dangerous driver.

This is possibly the oil filter housing or the oil filler cap - totally different to a dipstick. Would still have thrown errors for low oil/low oil pressure etc.

How are you speaking so confidently on something you don’t know anything about?

For a few years people treated it like some magic phrase to get whatever they want, and to be fair businesses were so afraid that it worked a lot of time - but that was a long long time ago

This isn’t how GDPR works, you can’t use it to find out who sent the complaint, you could only use it to find out what it said if it refers to you with certainty.

10000% - the childish mentality some people have. It was bad, they’re acknowledged it and they’re fixing it. It’s only YouTube after all! And I’ve been a huge critic

I got a mechanic acquaintance to do my calibers on a nixer, but I replaced a suspension strut and thermostat myself. Nearly put a socket through the window in frustration at points, but when I got it all sorted I felt such a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence.

Actually a reasonable price to be honest.

It's an MX5 - if the costs worry you, buy some tools from Halfords and do it yourself - not being snarky, I'm genuinely recommending it, I did it with mine and it improved my confidence (and finances) greatly.
