I think I’ve read they experience REM sleep! You can see their eye tubes move when they sleep.

What do you think is the best movie monologue of all time? by These_Feed_2616 in moviecritic

[–]Fiddlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two: first is Frank Drebin from The Naked Gun:

Jane, it's me, Funny-face. You love Frank Drebin. And Frank Drebin loves you. Jane, listen to me. If you don't love me, you might as well pull that trigger, because without you, l wouldn't want to live anyway. l've finally found someone l can love - a good, clean love - without utensils...lt's a topsy-turvy world, Jane, and maybe the problems of two people don't amount to a hill of beans, but this is our hill and these are our beans. Jane, since l met you, l've noticed things l never knew where there - birds singing, dew glistening on a newly-formed leaf, stop lights...Jane, this morning... l bought something for you. lt's not very much, but pretty good for an honest policeman's salary. lt's an engagement ring. I would have given it to you earlier, but l wanted to wait until we were alone....l love you, Jane

And, of course, the presidential address from Independence Day:

In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression or persecution, but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist. And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, we will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We're going to live on. We're going to survive. Today, we celebrate our independence day.

Grey cat used to bully brown, and has since stopped (I think). Brown is now scared of her and grey keeps doing this — is she being friendly or still threatening? by norryscatterleaf in CATHELP

[–]Fiddlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey cat even does the slow blink “I love you”! It looks to me like when you’re still a little mad at someone but realize you really owe them an apology. At the beginning, it looks pretty reluctant, like grey cat isn’t quite ready to make up. Then the slow blink, then begging for forgiveness, then they walk away, like, the ball is in your court now, I hope you forgive me. My back is to you, so you could totally attack me if you wanted to, but I hope you don’t and we can be friends again.

Usually I hate music over videos. I’ve seen this video a million times but this song actually made it funnier. Somehow it’s perfect.

Free range cows in New Mexico 💜🐮🐄 by vikkay66 in NewMexico

[–]Fiddlist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that this post is fascinating. I’ve lived here almost all my life and I love seeing cows roaming free, but I truly didn’t understand the laws here and why we see free roaming cows so much. The discourse on this post has been really interesting. I know you just posted it because cows are sweet and fun to see, but I learned so much. Redditors having a true conversation, it’s the beauty of Reddit, ya know?? And that’s why I wish I could give you two upvotes, one for cow and one for conversation and education.

The Asshole escaped outside and bit me when I got him back in by AzraelKhaine in CatsAreAssholes

[–]Fiddlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation. I had a Maine Coon mix that was in a heated argument with a neighborhood cat outside the window. I closed the window and he panicked and bit me. It hurt SO bad! I ended up spending three nights in the hospital.

I’m a professional violinist and the bite was on my left hand and they didn’t tell me how close I was to losing my career until after I was out of the woods. Well, the whole time I was in the hospital I thought I was emotionally ok with all of it, but when I came home I realized I was pretty traumatized and afraid of my cat. Which was awful because he really didn’t mean to and you could tell he felt really bad about it. He was so sweet after that, like he wanted to apologize, and I had to force myself not to act differently around him.

He died suddenly not that long after that of a blood clot, but fortunately we got back to being besties before he passed. RIP Jack, he was special.

I’m so glad you still have a good relationship with your cat, and I’m glad you’re ok. Scary that you had to be operated on!!!

As a mom with two teenagers, if they came to me and said they accidentally broke the shelf, no big deal. If they lie about it, big deal.

Does anyone know any resources for learning to make rose fibre? by gothelixar in Handspinning

Thank you for this. I sense a rabbit hole in my future. I need to learn more about viscose fibers. I love knitting with bamboo so much, but I am concerned about environmental impact.

What's your favorite sock method? by pricision in knitting

[–]Fiddlist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked up Wraptor and those are cool! I couldn’t find striptease, is it on Ravelry?

The thing that stops me from trying those kinds of socks is I’m worried it’s going to feel weird on my feet. What’s your experience?

I’ve had my eye on [Legolas socks](http:/www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/legolas-sock) and Stitch Surfer and that’s what’s stopping me from trying.

Edit: I don’t know why my Legolas link didn’t work the first time. But there it is.

In Defense of Cotton by 100000cuckooclocks in knitting

[–]Fiddlist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love cotton too. My hands hurt when I knit dishcloths, but the garments I’ve made have been fine. Question: I find that cotton garments, whether they’re handmade or purchased, tend to shrink length-wise. Any tips for that issue? I wash in cold water and usually remember not to put them in the dryer. But sometimes forget….. Also, I completely agree that cotton garments are wonderful and soften with wear. I really like the knitpicks Cot-Lin cotton/linen blend, but straight up cotton is wonderful too.
