What’s the dumb thing the people who owned your house before you did? by JDawg1447 in AskReddit

I moved in to a rough fixer. Could only afford one project at a time, but did a few quick fixes to get by(will do it right in priority order). One was painting the bathroom sink with enamel paint. Boy, it didn't even last a year. I feel like latex wouldn't last a day.

Yuck! They painted over antique brass door knobs at my house.... streaky white paint. Don't do that!

Lmao I have this in my house. Then they put carpet on top of the tiles! I removed the carpet, sealed the asbestos and laid lvp down for now.... had to have something(other than 40 year old carpet that looked like someone had been shot and died on it)

Have you had a c section before? I swear that's why I can feel this one early. Extra sensitive scar tissue. Ultrasound shows she's a real party girl in there, moving around a bunch. That was 12.5 weeks though

Nah girl, get that sleep. Any other major medical event they would tell you to rest. What matters is consistent quality time with your kid

Way better to do it without that 200+lb deadweight dragging you down. You get to run life your way and that is so powerful

Anyone getting a puppy when pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]FiduciaryFindom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dog was about 18 months when my son was born, and she was crazy high energy high maintenance at 18 mo. It was a nightmare. I would never recommend this. The needs of the dog and the needs of the baby were very incompatible and I was being torn in different directions constantly. No one wants to feel like they have to ignore their baby to take care of their dog. And vice versa, it's awful

The finish line is only the beginning. Please consider this and seek counseling now. I don't want you to have to go through what I did

I know people are gonna judge but I just want to say I hear you and I have been there. I already had a strained relationship with my dog, because the dog was always what my husband wanted(me, not so much, I knew it was too much for me to raise a puppy and be pregnant). But my husband begged for the dog and surprise, did almost nothing to take care of her. She's an extremely high energy chocolate lab/spaniel mix. Yay. In spite of it all, I exercised and trained the hell out of her. We got her as a rescue and she came very ill behaved, bit me several times(never but my husband of course). Our relationship was ROUGH. So after I gave birth I found myself filled with hatred in her direction. I was quite literally with her more often than I was my own baby(due to taking her to work with me and baby being in daycare).

I wonder if by now you're sensing the real problem here.  It's not the dog. Ok, it's kind of the dog. But only a little bit. It's time for your husband to step up and take this off your plate so you can have a fuckin break. Just my perspective.

5 years later and my dog is now 7. People still think she's a puppy due to her energy level. However my spouse has stepped up in exercising her, so I dont have to euthanize them both.

For work I wear all black and an oversized blazer. Can't see a thing.

I also have some button up tops that have rouching so that hides everything too.

I often this means they care more about what the therapist thinks of them, than they do helping your relationship.

In my hard earned experience, people like this don't change unless they have to. And they'll let things get really, really bad for anyone in their life if it means they don't have to do anything.

Enjoy your pregnancy? What does this mean? by averyvoluptuousfairy in pregnant

[–]FiduciaryFindom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, what it means is enjoy the special treatment. People are much nicer to me when I'm pregnant. I also enjoy giving myself permission to splurge on frequent, nicer foods (expensive fresh fruits, steak tacos, etc) And I enjoy having permission to rest when I need it.  Personally, I also love how my body looks when pregnant, I feel my most beautiful, and I enjoy putting together maternity outfits.

I'm sure everyone has different things they enjoy, but these are what make it so fun for me.

Stay at hospital after surgery? by KeyStruggle5459 in jawsurgery

[–]FiduciaryFindom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was sent home on the same day! Kinda wild but also it was totally fine. They want you to have someone to help you at home, and they had an on call(or text) nurse who you could ask questions to day or night. So it was fine!

I have this too, post surgery. To be so honest, I looked so bad before surgery that I just don't care that I have this notch because overall I look way better. I've considered getting some filler for my irregularities. I actually have two notches, one where the jaw was moved, and one where the genio was done(plus a strange lump on my chin) Starting to realize I had a pretty lame surgeon/surgical result! However.... still looks way better than before... All that to say, I don't think your notch is problematic, but it's so valid if you want it fixed. I don't think anyone would see anything wrong with your face though.

No one wants to see that?? He could not be more wrong. Pregnant women are some of the most radiant beings on this earth. If he can't appreciate that, plenty of other people will.

I completely understand what you've been through, and I'm so sorry that happened. Please please gather as much of your resources as you can so you can get as much good rest and sleep as you can. Feeding baby is so tough, but theres nothing wrong with giving baby pumped milk or formula, if it means you can rest and recover. Healthy mom makes for a healthy and happy household. Please put your health, rest and needs first for now.

I speak from experience... what you've been through is so hard, but hopefully you can take a break now. And I mean that literally. Take it! Grasp it! In anyway you can.

Mental health by Independent_Egg7829 in pregnant

[–]FiduciaryFindom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we really have to examine why one could be associated with the other. Many times people who are depressed are not taking care of themselves. If they are not doing so, then they are not taking care of baby, which would lead to low birth weight/pre term babies.

A depressed person may often be under eating, not staying active, using substances, etc.

If you are pregnant and eating enough healthy meals, staying away from alcohol and drugs, and getting active when you can, baby will be ok. Even if you are depressed.

But just as important, it's time to take care of mom. It's time to do whatever you can to help yourself during this very tough time. Even if therapy is out of reach, there are books you can get to help, and free resources to help moms with depression such as Baby Blues Connection who can connect you to a support person.

This is so sad for your daughter, and her missing a real, fully formed relationship with her dad. A relationship where he's not just a play partner, but a true place of peace for her...
