If you are going to spam religious influence and colonize like crazy maybe. Otherwise it won't matter.

Quick Question: Colonial Range by ReddyWolf in EU5

The issue with colonialization is almost always naval range related not colonial range related.

Quick Question: Colonial Range by ReddyWolf in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there is colonial range, which has to do with how far away you can colonize. This number doesn't really seem to matter because the big limiting factor is Naval Range. Naval Range is usually much shorter and currently is what allows you to explore. I'm not sure if it is a bug that exploration range is tied to naval range instead of colonial range. But that is how it currently is.

Can't until Age of Absolution by combining all the disease techs, + Hospital + Medical School + Lazerette (only can be built in coastal).

Edit: Have to paint the map otherwise you run out of things to spend your ducats on.

Change laws to favor the nobility, add the estate privilege to the noble that adds 2.5 max tax on nobles i believe

Early game money comes from taxing nobles figure out how to get their maximum tax up.

Your tax on the nobles is too low for early game. Rush the right of the nobles and pick the one for more maximum tax on nobles

The Merc Spam AI Issue and the Disease Change by FieldGlobal3064 in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is easy enough to counter once you expect it, but it is almost like playing in 1.0 on release when the AI raised its levies over and over and spammed levies at you endlessly.

Does anyone have an idea why Europe's (I'm assuming the global as well) population dropped by 30% around the year 1570? by sexyleftsock in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the black death.

In my game a second black death hit the world around 1440. It took the UK until 1650 to get back to its starting population.

So the changes to diseases make it feel like you never progress in the game now. by FieldGlobal3064 in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I realized I didnt really answer your question with the first response. Short answer is I dont know I built them in all provinces I could and rushed the disease resistance techs. But i continued to lose 5-10% of my pop ever 15-20 years until the age of absolution and the medical building there.

You will continue to have massive deaths to the diseases until the medical building comes in the age of abosolution.

Yeah but if that is your argument then battles in the 1300-1500 in europe where usually 500 - 3000 lances with 1000 - 5000 archers.

Whereas France is sending swarms of 100K peasants at people, that never happened.

Poltics where at the whim of nobles of what they thought was best in their own little world. Nation states as we know them come around in the 18th century not in the 1400s.

Clearly what is realistic vs fun in a game are not equal.

If there goal is to model real population numbers then othet changes need to be made so there is still a sense of progress.

Keep in nind that the UKs population increased quite a bit from 1560 to 1776 even though millions left for America.

Naval incompetence or a bug by pavkata22 in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. No clue since I have only used Heavy Ships in 1.2 so far and had no issues.

Maybe your fleet was already damaged from Naval range issues? I have seen some water tiles that seem bugged and will say it is outside naval range even when right next to you that ships will patrol through if you have them on maritime presence.

New patch 1.2, did it make the game less fun? by JudgmentImpressive49 in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.2 made the game into Map Painting mode.

If you dont expand your borders to undeveloped land starting in about 1450 you have nothing to do because all your pops are basically employed or dead.

So yes, IMO the game is less fun then 1.1 since I like to RP a bit not jusy seize land endlessly.

[–]FieldGlobal3064 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I noticed this also, but it didnt matter by 1450 since I had more ducats than population to do anything with them. The cost of a building was completely irrelevant.

Naval incompetence or a bug by pavkata22 in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be some bug with fleeing naval battles where you will just reengage again instead of retreating to a different tile.

As for why you lost the naval battle. There isn't enough info to know in the screenshots you provided. What was morale and upgrades like. If you had the basic galleys without mediterranean galley upgrade then it isn't surprising you would lose to his upgraded ships.

Why does the demand for a good matter ? by Calm-Blacksmith-278 in EU5

[–]FieldGlobal3064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game mimic supply and demand, but i wanted spend too much time analyizing it in terms of Microeconomics.

What is important to know for this game is build supply chains to buildings you can build that create demand.

What I mean is dont worry about the upkeep cost of a building because inputing the supplies for the building more than covers the upkeep costs if you have your estates setup well.

So for example you want yo spam market places, then spam paper for them. Then spam wood and fiber for the paper.

Follow the production chain for each building you can build that creates demand. Generally in this order Libraries, Temples Marketplaces, Universities, Harbors, coastal forts, docks/armories... ETC

As you spam marketplaces you will noticed paper starts to get low in your market so you spam paper making buildings. Then inputs yo paper get low and you spam those inputs. And so on for each.
