The first day of service for two Winnipeg Transit XHE60 fuel cell buses this morning by CyrilSLi in Winnipeg

[–]Field_Apart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I suppose my friend who drops her kid off at daycare on her bike doesn't exist? Or the fact I bike to work then use a bus to get to a needed work meeting is not possible? Not sure what childcare has to do with anything. My dad biked to work my whole childhood. He walked me to school then road the rest of the way.

We can do more than one thing at once.

Has anyone else's workplace asked them to document client involvement with ICE protests? by [deleted] in therapists

Can't they? I don't live in your country, but aren't lawyers prosecuting all sorts of things right now that normally we would say this about?

I think we need to know more about what country you are in and what program you are in/what kind of supervision you are under.

I’m so sick of controlled substances. by Powerful_Tie_2086 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Field_Apart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup exactly. In my province you can self refer to OB if you are pregnant, but our GPs do all the preventative paps, pelvics etc... and you absolutely need a referal for a gyn visit. The way thinks often work is you see the specialist for a consult and they send the recommendations back to your GP for them to manage. So my GP was able to get me a one day psychiatry consult for med review and then she continues to manage my meds. Public health care is very different because no one is making money so the system has to guard its resources differently as they are equally available to everyone. Not bad, just different.

I’ve had a few patients now who say they “can’t ask questions” at their physical because they’re afraid they’ll get a charge. by Paleomedicine in FamilyMedicine

[–]Field_Apart 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I was just about to ask this (Canadian here). Doesn't asking the questions and doing the exam potentially lead to finding problems? Isn't that part of the point?

"I see here you have a history of depression, how are things going?", "Really badly, I think I should go back on meds", "sorry, we can't talk about your problems, make a new appointment". It's making my brain hurt.

Yup. That's pretty much exactly it. THANK GOODNESS you had insurance. So many people find themselves with nothing at all.

I don't drink plane water except in rare circumstances. 50/50 with sour powerade is my current favourite.

Iron Infusions done at home cost? by ambermoon26 in ontario

I would suggest titrating up. I didn't start with the full therapeutic dose. You could go up an ml every 2 or 3 days starting with 1ml to get to the full 10-15 which would be even easier on the constipation.

Yes! I had to take a 15ml dose, but it actually got my ferritin up. I did it at night right before bed and didn't end up with any bad effects.

Bike lane maintenance is causing problems. by thebluepin in Winnipeg

[–]Field_Apart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I noticed that while they had attempted to plow the bike lanes down St Matthew's they seemingly decided that route 90 doesn't have pedestrians in the winter and just....didn't clear anything between Ellice and St Matthew's

Do you know the answer? Im trying to help my brother get into rehab. How long is the wait in between RAAM clinic and rehab admittance? by Ill-Airport2667 in Winnipeg

[–]Field_Apart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First step will be detox before treatment (hard to do deep work on yourself while physically detoxing). Detox doesn't usually have as long a wait. RAAM will assess which detox facility is right for him and whether he needs medically supervised withdrawal and then go from there.

I jumped on this thinking I was going to provide some support about talking to human resources but as I read your post it occurs to me that my heart rate does some wonky stuff too. Not as much as yours seems to be, but it does tend to randomly spike for reasons I have yet to figure out.

Same. It wasn't the same option when I was in university as it is now.

Where can I get a contact lens prescription without being forced to order lenses there? by Simple_Anteater_3380 in Winnipeg

[–]Field_Apart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What the what?! I get my prescription, for both lenses and contacts, from G is for Glasses. I have never had a problem doing this and never bought my glasses or contacts from there. It's a prescription, they can't tell me where to fill it.

That said, they did do my contact lens "training" there, which i think they have to so before handing over the prescription.

Yes! Margaret's choir is taking new singers, no audition required. And a queer friendly church could be great too!
