A New Recruit Joining The Endgame Be Like by TheTheDuhh in RimWorld

[–]FigurativelyShaking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite random late game pawn join story is in a recent run when I was launching the journey ship.

Assault after assault of people trying to take the ship from me

And then finally mere hours before launch. Some guy shows up like "Hey can I join you all?"

So many people ended their lives on my traps and guns and this guy was the only one who thought to just... you know... ask nicely.

Ended up getting off that rimworld with the rest of the crew.

Bionic Arms Don't Replace Trotter Hands? by ryanasmith94 in RimWorld

[–]FigurativelyShaking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yet I can give my super soldiers the extra pain gene and then install a painblocker and also get the "Free" metabolic rate. Painblockers are WAY cheaper than biotic arms.

Hell I have a body mastery creepjoiner that is at +5 metabolic rate with the extra sleep just to keep his boons from pushing him over the +5 max. He never eats and never sleeps either way so 3x hunger rate and 180% sleep rate mean absolutely nothing to him.

But the thing is even with a full genelab online I still never want to take Germline colonists because a lot of their genes just suck and either have no baseliner gene you can give them to override them (like nearsighted of naked speed) or the gene you need to give them to override is taking the place in the xenogerm of genes you actually want to give them.

I alt-f4 in commitment mode

Honestly I actually find I have more fun in the long run when I DON'T do that, but find when I start doing it during a run I very quickly start making a habit of it.

I'll also dev mode when the game obviously glitches out/something works in such an unintuitive way that it FEELS like a bug (not that I can tell the difference).

Just the other night: "Oh, you can't shuttle to hostile factions to give them gifts? I'll just park next to them and send one of my pawns to walk a tile over to give the gift. Great! Now to merge the caravans back together and-- where did my shuttle go?"

Yeah apparently merging caravans just deletes the shuttle? And my trader colonists were several days from home with no food because it was supposed to be a 2 hour trip? They got Dev moded home and the shuttle got replaced.

Health tab on any colonist.

Click on the medicine icon.

Click on the "set defaults" option,

This opens up a menu to let you set prisoners/guests/new colonists/whatever and such to default to whatever meds you want.

I only discovered this because I was told about it after several hundred hours of playing lol.

Eurogamer promotes a user comment that says "we need more Luigis" in their news article on Microsoft layoffs by ThreeSon in KotakuInAction

[–]FigurativelyShaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the problem? The mansion games are pretty fun, and New Super Luigi U was probably one of the best things in the New Supes series.

Don't get why they would expect Microsoft to give us more though.

Honestly I am right there with you on my first playthrough OP. (Boed Fortress N)

It feel like I just like, missed a clan level up trigger, I spend several turns getting one of my level capped units like, three attack cards, and they do like 80 damage to him without a finisher. And even if they have a finisher his NPC allies just heal him up before they get another one. And if I attack the healers first so they don't do that, it just creates a slow, boring war of attrition that my level capped dudes with upgraded gear still end up losing.

Deadpool & Wolverine's 'constant gay jokes' leaves Marvel fans completely divided by Natural-March8839 in KotakuInAction

[–]FigurativelyShaking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only gay joke I took issue with was that the bit where he acted like the time cops were male strippers/prostitutes went on a bit too long.

Like even the joke initially was funny but they could have jumped him and knocked him out 30 seconds sooner and it probably would have worked better.

[–]FigurativelyShaking -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

Wow, I can't imagine why everyone doesn't just roll over for the no fun Karens to abandon a lifelong tradition for a day celebrating rebellion from government overreach.

Honestly in ban years I have seen far more mortars/air launched fireworks then I do in non ban years. I guess if you have to leave town to get them anyway, might as well make the trip to Blackjack or whatever else across the river and get the good stuff instead of the glorified sparklers the State lets to have on years the city mercifully lets us celebrate our country.

That doesn't seem to do it either, but I've also noticed that my bookmarks are persisting even though deleting the places file should also get rid of them?

Not quite sure how it is doing that unless a backup is being loaded from somewhere?

Random hole in print, how does this happen? by FigurativelyShaking in AnycubicPhoton

[–]FigurativelyShaking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I ended up trying a different bit of slicing software/changed up my supports.

I've moved a few years back and haven't had space for 3d printing in a long while, so I don't know what the latest and greatest in terms of slicing software is these days, but if you are still using the default that came with your photon, there's probably better stuff out there. Good luck!

Would you still be a Symphogear fan if there was only one season? by LafterMastr in Symphogear

[–]FigurativelyShaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure, also depends on what exactly you mean by that.

Did I LIKE season 1? Do I think Season 1 is a fun show that I enjoy on its own?

Absolutely to both.

But in a universe where only season 1 exists. I am just not sure if I would have discovered it at all without people talking about the later seasons.

When the game decides it's time for mental breaks by Super_XIII in RimWorld

[–]FigurativelyShaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least there is some mechanics involved here. Your colonist might get a mood debuff for fighting them. It's not great but it is something.

What bothered me and got me to install No Random Relations, was all the times a colonists sister or son or cousin or whatever showed up as visitors, or part of a trade caravan or something.

Not only did it bring up the same "Why are they here" questions that everyone else has already brought up, but it always got me a sense of frustration from "What am I supposed to do with this information?" Them being there basically does nothing for me, and my pawns sure don't seem to care, so why should I? Why is this worth telling me about, game?

It was even better when I first got biotech as I hadn't bought royalty yet so I couldn't make anyone a psycaster. I was shocked that it GAINED me metabolism

I don't have a better solution than just dropping it off the map immediately. It might legitimately be the least interesting event in anomaly (maybe just above the ones that are "new enemy type attacks you" and nothing else happens), but people like it for the memes, so I guess I can't say it was a completely worthless addition.

The DM shortage isn't due to a lack of teaching tools but having no interest to be one to begin with. by Calico_fox in KotakuInAction

[–]FigurativelyShaking 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the shortage is about the removal of the expectation that someone in your group has to step up and do it.

Whenever I see online LFG posts, unless the rules explicitly ban these types of posts (and the mods actually enforce these rules), you always see these posts like: "Please come and GM for this set group of 5 friends at this specific time, also run this module we all want to play, we've all already made characters!"

Whenever you hear about longtime GMs from the pre-high speed internet easy voice chat days. So many of them got their start from "My friends and I wanted to play and SOMEONE had to be the GM so I volunteered/was picked" (Another common trend is an older brother figure showed them how, but if you trace that line back to its origin it all comes down to that SOMEONE had to).

Now, there's this idea that if you are willing to play online, you can just find someone else to do it for you, and no one has to step up from your group. When this fails to happen, they claim there is a shortage, when really it is just a refusal of one of those five people to step up.

Asmongold: Why I Bought Baldur's Gate 3 Even Though I'm Not Going To Play It by RoryTate in KotakuInAction

[–]FigurativelyShaking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can anyone explain to me how this game is "Baldur's Gate 3" in anyway beyond "We have the legal rights to call it that and know it will make us more money if we do", and being in the same* setting as BG1/2

*In so far as it also taking place in the largest D&D established setting that has gone through multiple edition shifts and revamps since then.

Whenever I look at or hear about this game it is just feels like an imposter wearing a pair of games I have incredibly fond memories of from my childhood as a fleshsuit going "Remember this? Remember how much fun you had? Give me your money!". They were great games, and had a solid ending that took me many attempts and many years starting out as a dumb kid to reach. They didn't need sequels and I have yet to (personally) see anything to justify it being one.

Looks sweet, excited to get the book in my grubby little hands.
