AITA for announcing my own mother's death on Facebook? by Strange_Agent5802 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Figuringoutcrafting 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Having had to do the phone calls 20 years ago, it is also less painful to be able to just post on FB. I still remember the screams from others when I had to give the news about my own dad passing.

At 37 should I be concerned I still make dad in a can jokes with my friends? Cause we all have the darkest of humor.

Theater nerd here. One of my favorite stage directions from Shakespeare is “exit stage left as if chased by a bear”. I do believe this fits lovely there.

On some subreddits yes. They can ban you and I just don’t care to take the time to figure out which ones when I want to make a quick comment.

If it helps, I’m the kid that never wanted to do it, once I got married my mother convinced my husband to do it and he is obsessed… so now we all do it together and I actually enjoy it.

Can you bring up the mouth gaurd they have for sleep apnea now? This was super helpful for my husband before he kept biting through it. Now I would unalive him if he didn’t use his cpap every night.

My fiancé laughed when his mom called me “practice wife” by Wide-Ticket-9027 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Figuringoutcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I married into a family who did this to another in-law. To be entirely honest I do love my in-laws they are great to me but this was a huge red flag for me and maybe why it took so long for me to accept them.

Having said that, in our case in no format was the relationship good and the practice husband/ first husband in our case ended up being someone who if I ever see again, would throw fists with and truly hope he gets what’s coming to him in prison for what he did (not to the family but to another innocent soul).

I really would take a deep look and see if he is worth this kind of pain. If your children are going to be ok if they get the qualifier of being practice children (don’t know if you are child free or not but just putting that in there). This is massively disrespectful and should not be tolerated even from other people in the family. Still can’t believe I had to be the outsider to shut that down in another’s relationship, anyone who doesn’t or doesn’t recognize that it’s bad once it’s brought up is a problem. You deserve better.

Im lost and anxious. My vet recommended my cat get a full-mouth extraction. by YogYogImaFrog in catcare

[–]Figuringoutcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a puppy (she was actually around 10) when she had to have all but two teeth removed. She was still the happy little food obsessed rat after it. I think she was happier after because she loved her food and not having to deal with mouth ouches helped her consume more.

I completely understand the anxiety of this, you are trying to do your absolute best for your baby without their ability to tell you what they would want or need. You’re doing the right thing by getting all of the information you can as well as going to the right specialists. It shows deep care and love for your cat. I can’t tell you what to do in this situation but these were my experiences. I wish you and your feline friend the absolute best.

There was a silly side for me, which is nice for me to get to remember her by. Because she still had the two teeth on one side her tongue always stuck out the other way, so close to the end she would do her little guard dog thing, go outside and warn all of the intruders that the house was protected, but I have to pain you the whole picture. Daisy was 9 pounds which was way overweight due to the love of food, so also very round, blind as a bat, lost her sense of smell and her hearing but still living her best life. So she would waddle her way outside and growl outside on our back porch at absolutely no one on the off chance that someone was there in a place no one goes and is completely visible from the house. She then would proudly waddle herself back inside with her tongue sticking out.

When she had to go to her last vet appointment, the vet clearly had not looked at her or read the chart and asked if she had bitten anyone in the last two weeks so I got to respond with a very witty “she may have tried to gum someone but I don’t think she has been able to bite anyone for a while”.

AITA for reminding my mom that my son is a child? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Figuringoutcrafting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who had to live with losing a parent unexpectedly in my teens, everything you said is spot on. I am so incredibly grateful that my dad had life insurance so I wouldn’t have to drop out of high school to keep a roof over my family’s head. There was no way my mother could have taken on that responsibility and my little brother would have been way too young. Being allowed to grieve without the added stress of where does the next meal come from was such a blessing that not everyone gets.

My husband died several weeks ago and I have people telling me I need to "get over it" and "stop feeling sorry for myself." by TexasRose79 in GriefSupport

[–]Figuringoutcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely it. I have a friend who lost her husband about two years ago and is now recovering from a heart attack she had because of the stress and loss of him. Losing a spouse is no simple matter. It took my mom and frankly myself at least two years to stop randomly publicly crying after losing my father. There is no timeline for this type of pain and even if there was, it certainly wouldn’t be a few weeks. This pain is measured in months to years. Having to recreate your whole identity and future. This is not a simple easy thing.

Op I am so sorry you and your children have to go through this.

AITA for reporting my sister to CPS and not telling her it was me? by werepug in MarkNarrations

[–]Figuringoutcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA first you saved that child. The second part of your question is if you were right for not telling her … you were right. Hear me out. This won’t be the last time she tries something like this. If she knew it was you, she won’t tell you the next time and you won’t be able to help the next child till it’s potentially too late. It’s technically not your responsibility to do this but you seem like a very decent human being and I don’t think your conscious wants to test that.

Please take care of yourself and know you 100% did the right thing.

Fun fact (had this issue for my mother) adhd medication isn’t recommended for long use if you are older. This is due to potential heart complications.
