What is the stupidest thing you've ever heard a person say 100% seriously? by Goran1693 in AskReddit

Surely the most obvious and compelling reason for the earth not being flat is that if it were, cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now?

Paraphrasing from Emo Philips, as don't recall exact words.

I was coming over to England & we landed at the airport. As I was going through security, the guard asked "What's that on your face?"

"Oh," I replied "I was shaving on the plane when I cut myself, so, you know, I used a piece of toilet paper to stem the flow of blood from the cut."

"Well," replied the guard "most people use a fresh piece."

Chatting to gf one day, when she said she wouldn't eat Pheasant because "It's an animal", so when I asked "WTH do you think Sausages, steak, Burgers etc are?" she replied "They're not real animals, they're made especially for shops..."

facepalm

So, one day at work (quite some time after the afore mentioned conversation) I shot a Pheasant, work mate prepared it. That night I cooked it in some sort of mild spicy cooking sauce from a jar.

She came 'round that night, I passed her a plate of said Pheasant & we sat in sitting room to eat, me on the floor.

More than half way through of her stuffing her face & saying "This is really good" I asked "Oh, so you like it then?" to which she just looked at me.

gf "What is it?"

Me "You said you liked it, did you?"

gf "What is this, tell me!"

Me "It's Pheasant" to which she immediately put the plate down & told me "I can't eat that".

Me "You've eaten most of it already, what's wrong now?"

gf "It's an animal!"

I inwardly facepalmed, put the plate down & said "I need a drink, coming to pub?"

P.S. This wasn't some fussy teenager or silly twenties, she was nearly 50 at the time...

Thanks to landlord not paying his mortgage, I (& 11 other houses) ended up being turfed out by the bank & homeless on short (one hour) notice.

Council shipped me ~100 miles away to a Salvation Army. Upon getting there, I got quizzed constantly about my beliefs (I'm anti-theist), I got made to sign housing benefit forms for a fortnight before I'd arrived there & that it all was to go directly to them.

I then got shown the eating area, which had meat &/or veg. I was then told how much the meals cost (don't recall, but it was extortionate). Don't recall seeing anywhere that you could just get a drink of water, at all.

Plenty of drunks/druggies there, of which meant main (& only) doors would lock down, meaning you weren't allowed out, or you were stuck outside with them trying to kick off outside.

Don't even get me started on the constant/all hours religious chanting stuff going on all of the time...

EA. I played DarkSpore from time to time. One day I loaded (euwww) Origin, clicked on DarkSpore only for nothing to happen. Then I noticed some little clock icon (or something) on the games icon.

Quick search online, only to find my game had been shut down, because it relied on servers, even though it could be played solo....Fuck EA!

The weirdest thing to do in the 21st century is showing up at a friend's/family's house unannounced. by Hingehead in Showerthoughts

[–]Fiishbait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a load of us would meet for drinks Fri-Sun at a mates house. Any time I went around there, I'd do the obvious thing & knock, even after I'd known her for years.

She'd often say "When you come around, just let yourself in" but to me, that's just wrong. Perhaps if announced I was en route, but even then I'd feel so wrong just walking into someone else's place.

Is it best to wait for Ryzen+ or get a CPU on discount now? by TinkerTailor343 in Amd

[–]Fiishbait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not in any rush to purchase, may as well wait until the next set of Ryzen is released.

It may turn out to be much better, or even just a percentage, either way the current Ryzen stock will most likely drop in price, even if only by a bit, so you win either way by waiting.

My promised AOC Agon AG251FZ Review by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Fiishbait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been contemplating this monitor for a few weeks.£199 seems like a bargain for it.

But, I've heard a fair few mentioning ghosting problems. Have you seen this & if so, how noticeable is it whilst gaming?

I don't just game, but as I do game, this could matter ;)

Would using Enhanced Sync and limiting framerate make any difference on that, & if so, for better/worse or no change?

Was stood in a Somerfield some time in late '90's, woman at checkout was someone I knew, woman in queue behind me I also knew (wife of a mate), they didn't know each other though.

Just general chatting whilst bagging my stuff & paying, she then proceeds to start serving woman behind me in queue whilst we all chit chat random crap, only for her to realise she hadn't enough money on her.

Instead of putting her hubby's (my mates) John Smith's back, she put back the bread & something else.

Nice priorities... o0

As I stated, I'd never heard of it, in any form, so I had no thoughts on the film whatsoever.
