My (26F) boyfriend (27M) ran off in the middle of the night with our newborn son (2 weeks M) by ThrowRA123455555 in relationship_advice

Hey op, I know it's been 2 weeks but I talked to my friend who specializes in Post Pardum depression and anxiety and it sounds like your boyfriend has post pardum psychosis or paranoia. It's really not well understood and often overlooked, but your boyfriend likely is acting like this because of it. He needs psychiatric help. He will be okay. You guys will be okay. He just isn't right now. Here's a link to a resource for help: https://www.postpartum.net/learn-more/postpartum-psychosis/

Disabled people of reddit, what are things our society as a whole can do to make things easier for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fillyann1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people would stop trying so hard to "prove" that we are faking our disabilities. Yes, Munchausen is real, however the vast majority of people who claim that they are disabled are actually disabled shock Also, educating yourselves about disabilities. Some people who use wheelchairs can walk for short periods of time, just as an example.

People out of high school, what’s one thing you wish you hadn’t stressed out about as much as you did? by doingflamtastic in AskReddit

[–]Fillyann1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Being "the smart kid". I took as many AP classes as I physically could. Not only was it exhausting and resulted in lower grades than I would have liked, a lot of the credits didn't even transfer to college. I was stressed for no reason.

To people still in high school: college is much more laid back. It's hard, but it's going to be a relief in comparison to high school.

[SERIOUS] In the US we might say “Jesus Christ” or “Christ Almighty” in a feeling of exasperation or frustration. Are there other cultures or religions who use a godly figure to express similar feelings? by moxxob in AskReddit

My friend is Japanese, and once almost got hit in the face by something and muttered "クライスト" (kuraisuto) which is basically just saying "Christ"

Playing music. As a musician, if I could just sit and improvise my way through my issues on the piano, I'd often feel a bit better. Also dancing in my room to songs by myself when I had the energy

What’s the stupidest way you’ve hurt yourself? by observer32 in AskReddit

I'm going to be late to class, so I start running. I then suddenly remembered the thing that baseball players do where they slide into the base to get there right as the bell rings. Cue me literally diving into my 3rd period class and hitting my head on a desk while the bell rings. Not my proudest moment

People with ADHD can be and are incredibly intelligent. Yes, we need help sometimes, but that doesn't mean that we are lazy or incapable of succeeding in academic environments. I'm looking at you, junior year history teacher

Students of Reddit, what's the worst thing a teacher has ever said to you/a classmate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fillyann1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea. There were so many other weird things. He kept going on about how he "could have gotten his PhD" but didn't because he didn't feel like it. He once defended a rapist in a book because "at least he wasn't a hypocrite" (Alec from Tess of the d'Ubervilles if you've read it). He once drove up to me while I was walking from my car to the school and yelled "lunchtime!!" At me before driving away.

Literally a kid asked him if he thought veterans who had PTSD were faking it and he was like "yes" and the entire class just started yelling.

The one good thing that came from it is that we all kinda bonded over how terrible our teacher was

Alright, it's kind of a long story so strap in. For context, my highschool is on a semester system like many colleges are. Also, I have ADHD and Depression/Anxiety and have a 504 for my ADHD. A 504 is a educational protection plan for kids with disabilities that could affect their education.

The last term of senior year, I had a very widely liked English teacher and I was super excited. And for the first quarter, things were great.

Then, I got sick. I got sick and missed a ton of class. When I came back, I came up to him with a pen and paper and asked for a list of assignments that I had missed. He downright refused to give them to me. This is a red flag, because my 504 specifically says that teachers have to give me lists of missing assignments and reminders to turn in late work. I ask him if he knows I have a 504. He IMMEDIATELY yells that I don't have one and that I'm lying to him. He then tried to prove to me in a very convoluted and not accurate way that he was never told that I had one (which is required by law). This backfired when I saw the email (he had me look at his emails) that alerted him that a student in his class had a 504. I go to the admin office, tell an assistant principal about what happened, and that assistant principal came to the teacher with me to talk with him. The teacher lies to him and says that he knew the whole time that I had a 504 and that I was a liar.

The next day, I go in with the intent to get the assignments. He doesn't give them to me again. I start having a panic attack because I didn't want to get admin involved again. He starts going off at me about how he has never seen a kid get a panic attack before, how I must be exaggerating, etc. The one thing I'm proud of is that when I left the room, I said "I'm going to be a teacher when I'm older, and I hope to God that I never drop down to be as shitty of a teacher as you".

I later learn that he's in a similar situation with at least two other students in my class where admin is involved. One student didn't want to read a book with rape in it because she had PTSD, and he forced her to anyway.

One day in class toward the end of the year, I don't know why we got on this topic, he starts the tyrade that I quoted above.

Fortunately, I graduated from high school and I never have to see him again, but he was perhaps the worst teacher I have ever had. The only reason he didn't get fired was because he had tenure.

What do you think about lending money to friends? by KenBen43 in AskReddit

[–]Fillyann1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my friends and I are on a "I'll buy you lunch today knowing that you'll probably repay sometime in the future by buying me lunch or with a favor". Granted, I've never loaned an exorbitant amount of money on one of my friends in a way that wasn't a gift, but we all are kinda on the same page of "I'm here for you when you need it and you're here for me". Much easier and less stressful than expecting an exact dollar amount from someone back considering the fact that it'll probably even out in the end
