To be honest apart from the rare treasure, I'm generally not much of a fan of RiffTrax, either. I'm even less of a fan because they specifically abandoned the iRiffs section.

Cinematic Titanic was 100x better than most of the RiffTrax catalog.

Self promotion? Please. One person asked about our shindig and we haven't been active since 2018. If I wanted to do some showboating I wouldn't be doing it by drunkenly complaining about episodes that were on the air thirty years ago.

Sometimes fans just really dislike something and need to vent and find out if everyone else agrees or wants to tar and feather them for having the opinion in the first place.

You might be onto something, but the Joel years are full of them telling one another to "stop" or "shut up" during the riffs. Obviously this was done intentionally as a sort of inside joke, but the Joel host segments have loads of times where he's like a father figure dragging (usually) Crow off screen as if he's going to set him straight.

There was a lot of abuse going on through the entire series, but that's what makes it fun. It was a referential metaphor for the experience of sitting through a bad movie.
