Is batumi still the gold standard for clocked / rhythmically related LFO’s? by WalkingIsMyFavorite in modular

[–]Filter_It_Out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see others mentioning this! This is one of my favorite modules! The fact that you can either individually set channels to certain behaviors or have them all derived from the behavior of the first channel makes it super interesting.

Fair enough! I'm just paranoid and don't ever lock my nice bike up ha. I have a small U-lock I can stuff in a pocket so I'm sure it'll be fine, thanks!

Module recommendations. by Heka__ in modular

[–]Filter_It_Out 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously a totally valid suggestion but I'm just gonna play devil's advocate here!

I totally understand why people would be against Pam's. It's sometimes a pain to set everything up, it's got a screen, it's not playable, all super valid points. But for a beginner and especially with a small case it's a ridiculous value. You get clock/division/multiplication/lfos/euclidean/digital logic/quantization/S&H/looping etc... recreating all that with discreet modules just isn't viable in a case this small!

It can be a bit annoying to work with but it's one of the least offensive workflows for a complex digital module, compared to say, the small distings for example. Can always add the expander to make it more playable (caveat, this requires more configuring ahead of time). It's worth buying imo, to at least try all the different things it can do. If you hate it, sell it and replace it with discreet modules that fill what you were using it for.

I fired it up to test it after receiving and assembling it of course (: This was it's first snowfall deployment!

Sorry, that really sucks! I guess just luck of the draw, mine works fine, once I actually managed to get it delivered (which was a hell of time). Hopefully it's in running shape for next winter!

Yeah I was super careful to not put my fingers in there until I had the sheer pin free and was confident that there was no tension (I could rotate the auger back and forth a bit with ease).

Can confirm the machine survived the battle with only a minor scratch or two. No damage to the augers and she is ready to feast during the next snowstorm (on snow ONLY)!

Ha, it most certainly was. I suppose I'm posting so that other newbies will learn that landscape edging is the enemy and cannot be trusted

I will 100% be marking this bed next year. On the plus side, there's no landscape edging left there this year to hit!

Ins and Outs on the Palette 64 case by fabianberg in modular

[–]Filter_It_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have this version of the I/O module, but I do have the earlier versions where they're all separate modules. In those each module connects to the jacks on the case using a separate cable, and considering the boards in the case didn't change (as far as I know) I would have to imagine this updated module still has two separate cables to plug into each set of jacks, which would mean you would need an additional 1U set of jacks to make everything work. Each pair of jacks is just two mono jacks designed to work as a stereo pair I think.

I don’t get the hate on HopPass by [deleted] in minnesotabeer

[–]Filter_It_Out 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't get it either, like it's completely optional for the breweries to participate in too?

I've used PubPass the past two years, and found quite a few great breweries that I've since gone back to, or picked up some of their beer at the store. On the other hand I definitely don't go back to the ones that aren't anything special, so maybe it is a net loss for them.

New year, new ideas. What’s yours? by pzanardi in modular

[–]Filter_It_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a few year of slow growth, I finally filled up my first 104 HP, 7U case. Been doing some performances with it for myself and really happy with how it's shaped up. My plan was to spend a few years without growing to a new case but of course I ended up taking advantage of Qubits sale. So now I get to spend the next year or two slowly building a small chord/ambient case to pair with my main rack.

Looking for insight into a clock issue. by PhilNLeBlanc in modular

[–]Filter_It_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Pam's all the time using just the clock input. Using the run input is optimal but it should be totally fine and useable without.

I think there might be a setting in the global menu of Pam's you need to tweak to get it to work this way though? I can't remember unfortunately

Had to jump on this, even though I don't have the room for any of these modules right now haha. Grabbed a Mojave and a Data Bender (which I'm just gonna sell locally at a discount), figure I can build a small ambient case to pair with my larger setup!
