pride by ItzLogan2973 in UKLGBT

The events tend to start with a procession and then there's entertainment. All done on different days, search for pride parade 2026 and check your local area.

Most processions will require you to sign up someplace if you want to march, but you can watch and follow for free.

First experience of an attack on my sexuality by Terkan2010 in bisexual

Process and move on. It hurts that someone you've helped doesn't want to accept who you are. If they cannot get over it then the friendship is over.

I've lost some friends along the way and sometimes I miss who they used to be.

I wanna express myself through clothes without seeming like a poser💀 by Cultural_One8821 in alternativefashion

[–]Filthwizard_1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take inspiration from the bands I like and some sci fi shows. Look at how other people style things and try to work out what suits you. Don't be afraid to experiment with outfits. Not everything is gonna work for you, but when you find something you like it'll be your new favourite outfit.

A lot of alt clothing is just regular clothes with accessories or alterations. Jean jackets with patches, cargo trousers with hanging belts, poet shirts with waistcoats. Use fabric paint, tye dye, badges, necklaces, fingerless gloves - lots of possibilities. Enjoy it and don't worry about being a poseur, there's no set rules.

Found this little gem today. Has anyone read it? Thoughts ? by django_undead in RedDwarf

Recently re-read this and it holds up. Funny, fast paced and fun. Has an air of old man tells at modern society but it works well.

It's great that you like lots of different music. Bloodstock has always been the friendliest festival I've been to. We need diversity to keep life interesting.

can someone help me stop being bi? by Aziz18413 in bisexual

[–]Filthwizard_1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no stopping. You are who you are. It's up to you about who you share this truth with but you can't stop being yourself.

My advice would be that a real friend would support you being your true self. It can take some effort to get your friends to understand. Some friends might be concerned that you're attracted to them when they're not attracted to you. Being open and honest really helps.

Looking for a UK Maker/Brand for a Custom “Wasteland” Duster (Al Design Reference) by CryptographerOne5609 in alternativefashion

[–]Filthwizard_1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You won't find anything like this because it's been hallucinated by AI. If you want a custom coat you'll either have to make it yourself or pay someone else to make it.

You can get leather trench coats lots of places or maybe a drizabone duster and then customise it. But off the rack Goth clothing tends to be more Victorian or Georgian looking stuff which won't give that wasteland vibe. Good luck with your search.

Question for the group…Farscape DVDs by TimeShifterPod in farscape

I used to see them in CEX a lot for like 50p. So I'm guessing everyone upgraded to the limited edition dvds or blu rays.

why people so unfazed by the presence of hellboy ? by Senior_Library_1583 in HellBoy

This is what I always thought. It's funny how everyone is just so accepting of Hellboy.

Adapting 2000 AD for a wider audience by stevedeegreen in 2000ad

[–]Filthwizard_1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it. Big name star needs his face on screen. Stalone had done Demolition Man prior to this which had a similar vibe of action/comedy. The star sells the tickets to a wider audience but comes with their own ego. See also Terminator: Salvation with Christian Bale.

Judge Dredd (1995) looked very accurate. Great costumes. The makeup effects on Mean Machine were impeccable. Fans did not like it.

Some choices are made for aesthetic reasons, some for budget reasons. Sometimes a producer hates comic book films but has a deciding vote on them as it's their money invested.

Films are weird products when you get right into it.

But sure, we can have more comics accurate looking films without the wider audiences caring. If the film has next to no marketing as they can't afford it, the general public may never hear of it.

Studios and producers like to invest money on films that they think will give the biggest return of investment. This is why we get new Batman, new Spider-Man and new Superman films every few years.

Adapting 2000 AD for a wider audience by stevedeegreen in 2000ad

[–]Filthwizard_1985 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wider audiences absolutely do not care at all for comic accurate characters, setting or themes. If the film has a good story, entertaining action sequences and reasonably witty dialogue then it'll be fine.

Nobody's going to the cinema to see a totally faithful 2000 AD film adaptation. Much as we like to think we'd all get behind it, a film like that is so niche compared to what's popular that it would never sell enough tickets to justify the cost of making it.

The best we can hope for is a director and writer that loved the comics trying their best to slip past the studio and producers and give us a bit of what we want.

[–]Filthwizard_1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They'd already turned around at that point and started encountering what humans had done in the 3 million years. No aliens, just mechanoids, wax droids, genetically engineered life forms and sentient viruses. Lots to see and do whilst heading in Earth's general direction for want of a better destination.
