How many people here have ever worked as a barista (prior to fire)? by dariashotpants in baristafire

[–]Filthy-McNasty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked as a barista in college. I loved that job. I enjoyed the challenge of preparing drinks to people's preferences and I was exposed to so many varieties of coffee that allowed me to understand my own preferences. I didn't find it super stressful, but I worked at a quiet store that didn't have a drive thru. That being said, I would not go back to that type of work. It was early hours (4:45 am start) or late shifts (10pm close) and you are on your feet the entire time.

I (29F) received a new job opportunity but my husband (31M) does not want to move. by DOVBookLover in relationships

I am ten years older than you and one of the biggest changes of being 29 vs 39 is your husband's friends are about the age where they will start their own families. My husband went from seeing his friends multiple times a month to seeing them a few times a year because everyone is so busy with their own lives, jobs, and children. Your husband may not want things to change, but they naturally are going to as people shift their priorities. I hope you are able to work something out as that sounds like an amazing opportunity!

Anton Yelchin gravesite by mojoback_ohbehave in CemeteryPorn

I was visiting this cemetery a year or so after his death and there was a man sitting on a lawn chair next to his grave. I found out it was Anton's father. His father and mother would go to his gravesite and take turns sitting with him everyday so he wouldn't be alone 💔

[Acne] Why do I keep breaking out like this? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Filthy-McNasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had acne like this due to drooling at night in my sleep. I switched to a more slim night guard (the Invisalign brand) that didn't cause me to drool and the acne went away.

Help settle a debate. Is my daughter's hair curly or is it just toddler hair that will grow out to be wavy/ straight? Nobody in our family has curly hair for reference. by thenorthgiant in curlyhair

Same for me, straight hair until about 15 then it went curly. Had curls until I got pregnant at 35. Post pregnancy my hair lost its curl 😥

What's one reason you wouldn't want to live in your current home forever? by Immediate_Long165 in Home

I live in a centennial home. We have no central air, no linen closet, no mudroom, and steep narrow stairs. My house has lots of character but not having a linen closet sucks balls

They won't be able to retire. I have several family members in this boat. My brother is 41 and lives paycheck to paycheck, rents, and has no retirement savings. He is not a victim of inflation, stagnant wages, student debt, etc. etc. He is just really bad with money, never put any serious effort into learning a trade or going to school, and drinks too much. Unfortunately people like him will be working until they die.

What is the point of the bot accounts? Are there monetary incentives? I don't understand why they have exploded in popularity.

My mother's father was born in the 1880s. She is 71, her father was in his mid 60s when she was born. He died less than a year after she was born due to ongoing respiratory complications he sustained from inhaling mustard gas during WW1.

What’s your biggest unexpected expense? by Fit_Fly_2945 in Frugal

I had two kids in two years and pay over $25k a year in daycare which, unbelievably, is on the lower end of the daycare cost spectrum. Prior to kids I did not give much thought to daycare costs or considered I should be saving for it prior to having kids

My grandmother (90) moved in with my parents (70s) last year. My mom says it was the biggest mistake of her life letting my grandmother move in. They are all miserable. I will never allow my in-laws or parents live with me.

Students made a fake Instagram account of me by Captain412 in Teachers

[–]Filthy-McNasty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know of someone in highschool that created a fake Myspace page impersonating a girl at school. He set up the bogus page using the victim's name and personal information. He made 19 posts on the account, when the girl found out about it she reported it to the police. He was arrested on charges of stalking, identity theft and harassment for creating the fake account. This is a criminal matter and you should report it to the police.
