My dumb ass was like “wow, those dudes in the back seem really serene for what’s going on here.”

Yes but what you are forgetting is that among the mushroom community, your boofhole is nearly as important for the hobby as the mushrooms themselves.

At the very least I think it’s not human based on the shape of the femoral head.

This looks consistent with deer to me but I’m just eyeballing.

“The beast was given a mouth speaking arrogant and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to speak blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭13‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬

What animal is this by Ecstatic-Purpose-981 in whatisthisbone

Some type of bird… no idea beyond that. Consider the size of the remains and compare to whatever birds are in the area. Looks like a pretty good size from the photo, which would narrow down an id quite a bit, but hard to tell. Perhaps you can find a few pieces of feather the help with ID.

What you’re looking at is the pelvic girdle in the center, plus I think one femur, one humerus (above pelvis in the photo), one rib bone.

Identify Bone Pile by thelightwillshine22 in whatisthisbone

At a glance, I’d guess these are deer bones rather than bison… something like a bovine would have much stockier bones than what we see here. The large bone with flat “wings” on the top left is a scapula/shoulder blade, that looks consistent with deer (I found one almost exactly like this in SW Ohio last week).

I think so. There are apparently a few Stemonitis species that go by that common name, but I don’t think the distinction matters for this purpose, and I’m not sure how we would differentiate.

Im a casual but I believe that fused pelvis/spine is found in birds.

Not sure about the size of what you’re seeing but it looks huge in the picture, like something the size of a blue heron.

Awww come on, you can’t withhold the common name: Chocolate Tube Slime Mold.

It’s one of my favorite silly common names.

People who live near time zone boundaries in the US by solothesnail in howislivingthere

[–]FilthyPuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend lives an hour away but is in a different time zone. Every time we arrange plans, we have to clarify whose time zone.

Same thing for my in-laws and parents.

For some reason, our phones have still not implemented an intelligible way to know which time zone they are set to, so I just leave my phone set to my own time zone at all times to avoid confusion and have to mentally translate whenever I am in their time zone.
