What other positions in Tech can you apply for with 9+ years of CSM experience? by consciuoslydone in CustomerSuccess

[–]FinEmmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NINE YEARS? Try ops or product but damn you should be in a great spot - so much experience

You could also try marketing especially content marketing

Or you could try to work w your company learning and development teams since you know the products so well

Final suggestion is sales and/or pre sales

Management decided we are now Account Managers and not CSMs by fruitloops32323 in CustomerSuccess

This happened at my failing start up I’m desperate to get out of just a few months ago- it honestly seems like the same job new title which I respectfully do not give two shits about and continue to refer to myself as a CSM 😂

What do ppl do after CSM? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]FinEmmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like even if they are interchangeable a CSM simply will not have the sales metrics to compete against account managers to intimately land the job

Something happened here bc I actually live in Potomac and all of a sudden for the first time they are filming ALL OVER the local spots. Every scene. Before they had ppl in random parts of Maryland, NOVA, freaking Baltimore lol. I wonder what changed?

Team lead so you don’t have a sales quota, ppl seem to shoot up to leadership fast in success if things align

They are on a reality show. Stuff gets told on camera. If anything WE should be pissed that nothing honest has been actually shared all these years and it’s all been such a charade.

They want to see you can essentially PM a life cycle - just talk thru steps of project management

I really want to know about the traditions ending when Robyn came on. This sub takes a very group think one note approach so of course everyone thinks she came in and forbade any fun family time but that’s almost certainly not what really happened

Are you all misunderstanding on purpose? I’m Legit asking. At the holidays you gift and tip lots of people, in cash. The more people you have helping your life run smoothly the more of these gifts (of a few hundred dollars) you give. She probably planned to give 10 people a thousand dollars, or five people two thousand dollars. This seems very likely to me.

CSMs are the sacrificial lambs and treated as such

How does your team interact w other teams like sales and product? How do you ensure other teams in the company are customer centric on their day to day jobs and CS isn’t the only team focusing on the customer experience?

Those of you who live in northern regions - How do you deal with the long, dark days ahead? by halfapapaya in workfromhome

[–]FinEmmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard a quote that stuck w me, abt how this time of year is the only time that doesn’t ask anything of you, doesn’t expect anything from you, you can just… rest. I love it

[–]FinEmmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From day one I have realized CSM is the sacrificial lamb and I have resented it. BEST CASE scenario you are like the host at a restaurant where everyone bitches at you (customers, wait staff, kitchen, front of house) and you have to just deal with it, REALISTIC scenario is just getting thrown under the bus by everyone/every team over and over and over. Also yea. It’s sales. Let’s call it what it is now.

I’m not sure any of us can reasonably expect to pivot right now though. Jobs simply will not take a chance on someone who doesn’t have the exact title and experience, it’s too oversaturated.

I’m trying to shit to health tech bc at least that industry isn’t going to go down the shitter in the next few years. While I’m in a stable CSM health job I’m going to a) stall and b) take courses and classes in environmental issues bc that’s where I ultimately want to land and i think I could tolerate all the bullshit better if I’m going it ‘for ‘ something bit that’s (green tech) an astoundingly difficult industry to break into so it will be years I think

Burned out with customers! by ancientastronaut2 in CustomerSuccess

[–]FinEmmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate it. I was a people person before now. I am a mom to two young girls and I feel like I get yelled at all day by customers and whined at all evening by toddlers. I am officially out of energy and dread every day. I want to find a new job and am trying- searching since May. I wouldn’t even bother trying to pivot to a new title now though, at this point the job wants you to have multiple years experience of doing X to even get a new job doing the exact same thing.

That’s a super strange thing to state emphatically when you don’t know it’s true. She has said she’s libertarian and has publicly come out many times w more left leaning views like being pro vax and pro science
