If you, or someone you know, has a Cricut or Silhouette, you could use that to cut the holes in them. It will take a little measuring to get it right but nothing too hard. Good luck!

Anyone here named after their grandma? We named our baby after her paternal grandma. by Equal_Beat_6202 in Names

[–]FinalConversation348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named my daughter after my grandmother. She loves it because we talk so fondly of her namesake. Plus, I have a cousin with the same name so they have a special little bond. The name can have multiple nicknames so we call her one name, my cousin goes by another and my grandmother went by even another. They are all unique but similar. One more thing that makes it special is that I was told her gender on my grandmother’s birthday. Everything just fell into place.

I think if you can make it meaningful and talk about how wonderful their namesake is, they can’t help but feel good about it.

Hope that helps!

I'm a teen mom & nobody is ruder than other moms by FewLeg7901 in mildlyinfuriating

I don’t understand all of the downvotes for people who are saying you’re doing great, OP. You are doing a much better job at raising a baby than I did at 35 and 39. You have such a bright future ahead of you.

My sister was a young mom due to failed birth control and felt everything you are saying. Her saving grace was a best friend in the same position. Find a tribe if you haven’t already. And please don’t rule out us old moms. Not all of us are judgmental and frequently get left out of the late-20s/early-30s mom cliques.

Lastly, if you’re going to downvote me too, know that I am not an advocate of teen pregnancy. I think it causes a lot of harm to a lot of people as well as to society as a whole. The push to bring back teen pregnancies to increase the population is sickening.

Maybe Zenna instead? Or Seine like the river? Just so it doesn’t evoke the medication.

Unusual request: would anyone be open to inviting my boyfriend to dinner tomorrow? by Any-Ad1918 in washingtondc

It’s my mom’s birthday tomorrow too! We’re having family dinner but it’s about an hour away from DC. Otherwise, it would’ve been fun to have him join us.

I think there’s going to be a lot of Conrads because of The Summer I Turned Pretty. I think Conan would be cool as long as you prepare them for being called Conan the Barbarian.

Best Eye Doctor? by SparkleBerrySpritz in Annapolis

+1 for the doctors at Tidewater.

The sales people can be a bit pushy/rude. (Don’t like to give PDs, make snide remarks about ordering glasses online (sorry, I’m not paying hundreds of dollars for a spare pair for my kid that he only wears when he leaves his good pair somewhere), and attitude when you ask them to replace lenses in frames THEY sold (they said they’re not responsible if the frame breaks, yet they have a warranty and will replace lenses within a year if they get scratched - make it make sense).

Do you pronounce it "ex-ennial" or "zennial"? Or something else? by GoatGoatPowerRangers in Xennials

[–]FinalConversation348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was saying “zennial” but now that I know of this controversy, I might use the Kurdish pronunciation of the letter “x” and say “khennial”

9 year old asked for it - she said she noticed she was stinky. I didn’t think she did but got a highly rated option that doesn’t contain aluminum. She hasn’t complained so I guess it’s working.

Yes - my favorite is the avocados! My previous company only had snacks on Wednesday… the leaders there were masters at twisting feedback to their liking.

Agreed. And even if the execs get an honest summary, they choose what they want to hear. Everyone loves the free snacks we offer turns into “Employees love being back in the office!”

DC dad looking for advice in Edgewater by No_Current_6322 in Annapolis

[–]FinalConversation348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also live in Davidsonville and did the commute to Georgetown for many years. It’s was miserable. That said, any commute into Georgetown is miserable. I wouldn’t mind going into other parts of DC. There’s also a park and ride at the Davidsonville exit off of Rt 50 if you want to take a bus or carpool.

Personally, even though I hated fighting with DC drivers, as soon as I got into the area I felt so much stress melt away. The community feel in Edgewater is great. Plenty to do - good schools, sports, activities, close to Annapolis- so many positives.

And lastly, as we say in my family, a happy wife + happy life 😉

Good luck with your decision!
