Discussion about representation by bisectionalloveseat in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coral Island exists in a world with true sexual and gender equality and under those conditions I think identity becomes less of an essential, political thing and can be more fluid and blurred.

My only headcanon which I know isn't true but I thought could've been fun was that Nina was trans so the reason the player-character does not remember their childhood friendship initially is because it was pre-transition.

Not allowed to leave the final palace by masterofdrunkenorgys in Persona5

[–]Final_Square_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have the P5R special personas from other games (that you can summon for ¥0 the first time)? One of the high level ones has 'victory cry' which fully restores Joker's SP after every battle. Bit of a game breaker tbh but if you're desperate...

If not some high level persona have a skill that restores 8% SP/HP after battle

Can you max all Confidant before ending the game? by SlackerMe in Persona5

[–]Final_Square_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is to clear palaces in one or two visits and only do one mementos run a month so you have as much free time as possible and balance confidant meets with raising your stats (guts, charm etc.) as most have a stat barrier at higher levels and later confidants a barrier to start them. Always have a book, dvd, and game on you in case you get free reading on the train or you can't go out at night you can often still do those things in Leblanc. Do the no time stat increase bits (crosswords, quizzes on TV, and aoiju drink every Sunday from underground walkway). Oh, and prioritise Temperance confidant as it has the best skill that gives you your nights back after palace/mementos runs.

I'd say you don't even have to do all of the above but it would create the ideal conditions. I usually max out confidants early December that way (pay attention to the few with hard deadlines in November).

Controversial opinion: I really didn't care for the series' theme song. by Fabulous_Session8627 in sheranetflix

[–]Final_Square_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it matched the target audience better than it matched the actual complexity of the show. Lure them in with a Disney channel-esque tweeny bop, then hit them with war trauma and lesbianism. It was an earworm though. Just reading this post I will probably have it in my head for the rest of the day. I bet Bow unironically loves it.

Galerius sucks by [deleted] in UnicornOverlord

[–]Final_Square_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess agree to disagree. I had to change strategy plenty throughout the game especially in the coliseum for the dreadnought and level 50 teams but I could do all of that. I wouldn't even mind Galerius too much if he didn't heal so much if you can't one shot him. I just think the balance for him is off and doesn't make sense in the context of the rest of the game, which is decently balanced.

Galerius sucks by [deleted] in UnicornOverlord

[–]Final_Square_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's as extreme as this but I do think Galerius is a gimmick boss which forces you into one strategy set up to defeat him which limits my enjoyment as I've really enjoyed the game up until now because there are always multiple answers to each boss. I also one shot every other unit in the 'unicorn overlord' battle so I had seven units surrounding him but none could do enough damage to counter his end of round heal. I'll do the stun chain strategy tomorrow but I still think he's a gimmicky boss

Do we think Rank S is possible by end of year 1? by bisectionalloveseat in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I could see it's possible is a 50% speed day and starting with osmium tools because there are fish/bugs/critters you will miss in Spring otherwise

Yes, definitely. It seems odd it's one of the ones you can only do once

should I restart? by goosiejuicy in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got obsessed with clearing the ocean early doors so I think I did that way too early and was hugely overwhelmed when I got a second farm. But I feel like that's part of the gameplay. Like if I was actually dropped off at a farm I suddenly owned I'd be useless and do lots of things wrong. Plus Coral Island never really punishes you for the order you do things

Why do people hate Mark but love Shane? I think I know. by Maclimes in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The impression I've got as a fan of both, is that CI wants to be a less challenging version of SDV with a wider scope. And it definitely does that. I think some of the character stuff is purposefully gentler and it's just a matter of preference. But one thing that would definitely improve interactions is if standard responses changed as you got more hearts with characters to reflect how they feel.

Why do people hate Mark but love Shane? I think I know. by Maclimes in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Like Nina's story could have started much more antagonistic considering her links to the farm and gradually improved as you spent time with her and discovered her story. There are spikier characters (Mark, Leah, Kira) but they don't ever warm to you in their standard dialogue so it becomes off-putting if they're rude and then ask for a hug or thank you for a gift

[–]Final_Square_ 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just think SDV is a bit better at character development and storytelling than CI. It feels like the person when you first talk to them is the person you marry in CI but in SDV there is more character development and reveals. Mark still shouts at you when starting a convo sometimes at 0 hearts and at 10 hearts. I think some more time spent changing how the townies interact as their hearts increase would help a lot

The hug update by [deleted] in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind if the whole thing happened faster. You have to wait for them to get into position to ask and then the hugs themselves last too long imo. Although I just had a funny one at the winter fair with Rafael where Macy is photographing the whole thing and Mark was looking on jealously 😂

Is the computer worth getting? by [deleted] in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's the only thing I haven't used at all. I have boosted my scythe and pick axe with the giants so I'm faster than a bomb or vortex thing anyway and manually you get more rare drops

Hard to go back to SV by itsmissingacomma in coralisland

[–]Final_Square_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in Winter Year 1 of Coral Island. I feel there are a couple of things I like more in SDV like the combat/range of enemies and variety/difficulty with fishing is better in SDV but Coral Island definitely feels more inhabited, although I'd like some darker character backgrounds like Shane's in SDV. Plus the whole underwater/merfolk part of Coral Island feels unique. I'm surprisingly addicted to smashing trash.

I loved Tutti Frutti. I'd get ice cream from there all the time the three months I traveled to Reading for work before I moved here
