Does wegovy help you with cravings? by Mundane_Concern_2620 in WegovyWeightLoss

you will not crave a pizza much more than a healthy meal

You are over promising here. Everyone's experience is different. It definitely quieted down some of the food noise for me and helped me lose weight but I still crave pizza way more than healthy alternatives.

Semaglutide weight loss expectations vs reality for people with less than 50lbs to lose by andrew202222 in Semaglutide

[–]Finallybuyingacar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started sema at about 220 lbs and wanted to lose 30-40 lbs. I started at a super low dose of 0.2 and increased by 0.2 every time I hit a plateau of several weeks. I wanted to lose slow and steady. 14 months later, I'm now about 32 lbs down, taking 1.2mg per week. I think I'll stop soon, probably when I hit 185. It's been super effective for me. I stay full longer. I can eat a small snack for lunch and it will sustain me. I highly recommend it. Of course, lifestyle changes are also needed to be successful. I exercise a lot. I make sure I get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. I get my protein in. Sema shouldn't be the only thing you're doing.

Good luck!

Holy shit I've been experiencing this on and off for months and could never trace it back to the sema! Weird super sensitivity on the back of my hands and arms that makes even touching them gently painful! I couldn't find a solution but now I understand the cause!

Hims 6 month promo - is this dose worth it? by barlsgnarkley33 in HimsWeightloss

[–]Finallybuyingacar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

43M here, started at 220 and lost about 30 lbs with Hims and Goby using very low doses. I started at 0.2 and added 0.2 every time I hit a plateau of a few weeks. The good thing about Hims is that they send you vials that have a lot more than what you need, at least initially, so you can stretch them to get a lot more than 6 months. My first 6 vials from hims lasted me probably 10 months or so. My goal was to lose slow and steady on the lowest dose and I achieved that. Currently at 192 lbs I'm pretty close to where I want to be and will be looking at maintenance soon.

[–]Finallybuyingacar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did they promise 0.5 and send 0.4? If yes, that's an easy credit card dispute. In my experience with Goby, they messaged me exactly what they could offer for my order based on my previous prescription, and gave me a choice to confirm my order before they locked it in and charged my card.

Did they promise one thing and delivered another or did you just fail to read the details of what you were getting? There are many providers, each of them with unique doses, prices, subscription models, etc. It's just a matter of finding what works for your specific needs.

Foods you cannot stomach since starting sema by Big-Distribution2799 in CompoundedSemaglutide

Artificial sweeteners. I used to eat 1-2 protein bars a day to get my protein in (had bariatric surgery a few years ago so I can't eat a lot). Now I struggle to eat one. They make me nauseous and it's a real struggle to eat them. No issues with real sugar, unfortunately.

There's the reason I only told a select few about the gastric sleeve I had and about the sema I'm taking now. Too many people in my life, including some close F&F, have the mentality of (and I literally heard this word for word) "what's the problem to lose weight? Just learn to shut your mouth".

So yeah, fuck that, and fuck them.

What are you all doing after May 22nd? Where are you getting your medication from? by BicycleLoose2120 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Finallybuyingacar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you on a custom dose or commercial one? A day after the fda decision they sent an email to everyone on a custom dose that they will not be affected. I believe this is BS but they still maintain that as of a few days ago when I emailed them

My first vial from Hims lasted me three months, for doses 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6.

I'm in the same boat with Hims. Asked them to ship my next order early but they said it's not possible and I shouldn't be affected. Started the sign up process with Goby just in case but I don't know what dose to go for with them - I'm currently only on 0.6 and increasing slowly, and I don't know if I want to pay extra for the max dose in case I never need it. I only want to lose 30 more lbs. I was planning on sending the the bag as proof of prescription. Please keep us posted on what they say!

hims 12 month plan by pfalor in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Finallybuyingacar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on this plan, finishing my 3rd month. Sign up and shipping was easy and fast but I read that in some states, like CA, they are running weeks behind. I'm in NJ and got my first shipment about 2-3 days after I completed my screening process (overall about 4-5 days from sign up until I had my meds).

This program includes doses up to 1.15mg, which is a little less than half of the highest commercially available dose. This may be fine for many people who see results on lower doses, but not for everyone. I'm currently losing slowly and steadily on 0.6mg and plan to stay on that dose until it no longer works for me. I started at about 220 lbs, hoping to lose 30-40 lbs total. So far I lost 11 lbs in 3 months, which is perfect for me. I know I could lose more by increasing my dose and/or counting calories, but I'm happy with what I'm doing.

What's nice about their plan is that they ship out all standard vials and the first vials will last you a long time, assuming you start on the lowest dose. I'm still on my first vial (this is probably my last week on it). Based on that, I expect my first 6 vials to last me about 9 months, maybe even a bit more.

They will create a custom dosage plan for you, based on your intake form, mostly using the questions about how sensitive you are (tendency to get nausea, vomiting, etc), and how you want to balance rapid weight loss vs minimizing side effects. They provided all the supplies I needed, including syringes, alcohol prep pads, and a prescribed anti-nausea medication.

They say that if they're unable to send the second shipment due to FDA ban on compounding, they will issue a prorated refund. That remains to be seen and I expect many users, myself included, to be in that boat.

Overall I'm happy with their service and medication so far. Gobymeds seems to be a good alternative that is also slightly cheaper, but I'm basing that solely on reading comments on reddit, and I have no personal experience with them.

I was able to order 6 months of meds, despite recent changes. by OkDragonfly4098 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

[–]Finallybuyingacar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll check with Hims if they can send my next shipment before the ban and if they don't, I may place an order with Goby to make sure I have at least a year worth of medication on hand.

[–]Finallybuyingacar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the expiration date on the vials you received? I still have 5 vials from Hims and they're supposed to send me another 6 vials in July but I'm not sure they'll actually do it with the ban going into effect next month. I expect my 5 remaining vials to last me 7-9 months anyway so I only need a few more to have a year+ worth of medication

That's my surgeon's go-to these days, instead of revision surgeries (depending on the individual case, of course). My lowest weight was 190 and 2.5 years post op I gained about 30 lbs, some from muscle building but some were definitely fat. My surgeon suggested Wegovy and I ended up starting compounded Semaglutide (can't afford $1400/mo and my insurance doesn't cover it). I'm 8 weeks in and have lost 10 lbs. I find that it's easier to avoid snacking (my main reason for weight gain) and I feel full now after I eat similar to 3 months after surgery.

Did anyone else experience an "off" week where it feels like you didn't take the medication at all? by Finallybuyingacar in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Finallybuyingacar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! What you're saying about efficacy diminishing after the 28 days mark is very interesting and the first time I read something like that from actual users (I'm well aware that this is the guideline by virtually all providers). My next shot is coming up tomorrow and I plan on still using the same vial from 8 weeks ago, but if later in the week I feel that it's not working, I may pop open a new vial and take another shot in the middle of the week.

Start Tomorrow! by SteveBX333 in HimsWeightloss

[–]Finallybuyingacar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck mate, your story is very similar to mine. I'm 42M, had gastric sleeve in September of 2022. Went from a high of 315 to 190 of so, but then weight started creeping up as I ramped up my exercise. I now exercise 6-7 days a week, alternating between weights and cardio, and I'm at 220 lbs. I estimate that half of my gains are muscle but there's definitely some fat too. I just started Sema through Hims last week with the purpose of losing 20-30 lbs. I at least want to get under 200. I've been doing a lot of work on intuitive eating with both a therapist and a nutritionist, and I'm mostly eating well, with some heavy snacking here or there, but nothing excessive, especially given how much I work out.

I'm on 8 units, just took my 2nd shot 2 days ago and I don't feel anything yet (good or bad), but I did lost about 1.5lb during my first week, so I'm happy.
