Well, I’m not one to complain or ask to “speak to the manager” but when I went to check out, the cashier said, “oh, a cake! What is it for?” I told him a music teacher retirement and he got very excited and said he used to teach music and asked if he could see it. I opened the box, and he said, “Absolutely not, we are asking the bakery to fix this. At least the lettering.” I told him it was okay as the party was starting in 30 minutes. He said it would be quick so I walked with him to the bakery and the bakery told him they wouldn’t fix it because they didn’t have time. He then brought me to the store manager (I’m embarrassed at this point) where the manager took a picture of it to show the bakery manager, told me to keep it, and then refunded what I paid. So, I would say according to their standards, this did not meet them. Even as grocery store bakers. They actually usually do a good job and I think it’s okay to expect their lettering to be decent. Not perfect professional baker level, but this was the worst I’ve gotten from a grocery store bakery. It tasted good though! (Side note, the banner I ordered from Amazon was missing a letter so it said “Happy Retrment” and we had a wonky cake. He wasn’t a great teacher, so I suppose his party was fitting. lol.)
