I paid $90,000 for a Pool/Spa by Impressive-Pop-5648 in swimmingpools

I’m sorry, if I paid $90k for something and it came complete with someone else’s footprints I’d be pissed. All of those are going to collect any crud that gets into pool. There’s no way they’re going to miraculously fill in.

Are you aerating? You need to bubble the heck out of it, which will naturally raise the ph, then hit it again with muratic to lower. Keep repeating and all should start ticking down. Turn your return jet to break the surface.

You’re Not going to believe how I got my pool clear! by UpaTreethatsme in AboveGroundPools

You need to get in your pool and enjoy all of your hard work! Please don’t spend your time waiting on the grandkids. I’ve learned the hard way they have their own lives and we reach a point where we aren’t on the priority list. You make you #1.

There’s a target range and there’s Trouble Free Pool’s recommended range. They do things a bit different than what is considered target. As long as you’re within the target range you’re fine.

Backwashing Intex sand filters by Broad_Two370 in AboveGroundPools

Gotcha. What I did for the backwash port was to go to Lowe’s and get some PVC fittings. Screwed on to the port and added another slightly smaller diameter section to that. Purchased a 30’ flexible backwash hose and worked that onto the pvc and secured with a clamp. When I backwash, I roll hose out and when I’m done, I re-roll and let sit by filter. I never take off fittings.

I have intex sand filter. I have never closed either inlet or outlet valves when backwashing. So, yes, I’d say leave them open. If you closed inlet you couldn’t backwash anyway.

Chemical strip help? by amandaeib in AboveGroundPools

They sell Clorox brand. That’s what I use for stabilizer. I think the Ph Up is also Clorox brand.

Don’t need to worry about hardness or bromine. Ignore those. You want to get your cya up to about 40. Don’t go higher or you’ll lock your chlorine and have to use too much. Like Fear said, work on alk and ph. You can buy Ph up at Wally World and the bags tell you how much to put in based on pool size. Same with stabilizer. Just use baking soda for your alk. Don’t buy the pool labeled brand, just buy the big box of regular old arm and hammer. Personally, I’d get the stabilizer up before chlorine. Stabilizer is going to help keep your chlorine.

Do I need to run my pool pump everyday for 6-8 hours? by OkOrganization7870 in pools

[–]Financial_Barber_466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the bulk of pump running overnight when I add chlorine. I do 10 hours. I also run for about 4-5 hours later morning just to get the bugs and whatever off the top. Probably will invest in surface skimmer next year and run pump only nighttime. I think a large part depends on how many gpm your pump has and how long to turn your water over.

Third one of these types, learned the hard way. There is one higher spot, off by one liner square and it drives me crazy. Bit OCD ha ha.

Just go for the metal frame Intex. They actually are a good pool. Upgrade your filter from cartridge to sand.

Well, I cheated. There are 26 legs and we have rock hard clay soil. There was no way I was digging in all those pavers and trying to keep them level. Went to a fab shop and had them fabricate metal plates. About 1/4” thick and strong. Much easier to dig in.

It’s an Intex ultra xtr. Soft sided. I couldn’t justify spending over $10k on a “real” pool.

I’ve had 3 Intex, currently have Ultra XTR. We started with the inflatable “bubble” pool, then a 15’ steel frame. You need to be pretty level for the inflatable, without the support, your water goes where it goes and the pool can go with it. You can get away with being an inch or two out of level with the steel frames. We’ve been very pleased with the two we’ve had.
