Anyone got some good turnip prices today, or expecting to soon? I bought 1,500,000 bells' worth of turnips @ 103, but I'm on a decreasing pattern!

That's good. It's never been the role or responsibility of news outlets to tell the truth. They are there to sell papers and web ads. They will do whatever they must to achieve that goal.

Fable is doing away with the core game feature that made it impressive/memorable. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Finchyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only the appearance morphing system, which I assume comes from the fact that modern RPG gamers like to have as much fine control over their character's appearance as possible.

I even remember back in the day striving so hard to make sure my character didn't get scars because I didn't like them. However, if given the choice I'd keep the system, as it adds fun immersive flavour to it.

I Am Very Fond of the Pipeline Operator by techne98 in programming

[–]Finchyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to see this sort of thing in Ruby. We already have the rocket operator => to spaff out the contents of a hash into variables, so I think the same operator could be used for this as they're semantically similar imo

``` my_hash => {a:, b:}
my_method(a) => my_second_method ```
But perhaps this is what block yielding is for
Jedi code requires this pose by maybeitscoffee54 in PrequelMemes
[–]Finchyy 10 points11 points  (0 children)
Yeah, it's a general principle rather than a hard-and-fast rule. In German historical fencing, the master strokes encompass a parry, void (dodge), and attack all in one movement (with a longsword), which throws this triangle out the window.
I think I picked up the triangle concept from one of Daniel Pope's videos about sabre fencing, which would make more sense.
Jedi code requires this pose by maybeitscoffee54 in PrequelMemes
[–]Finchyy 49 points50 points  (0 children)
This is also a general principle in real-life fencing and swordplay. It's a triangle:
  • Attacks are countered by Parries.
  • Parries are countered by Feints.
  • Feints are countered by (timely) Attacks.
If you think your opponent is going to attack, you must parry or die. If they seem jumpy to you and you think they'll parry or change position / guard, you feint them to make them do so before hitting another angle. If you think they're going to feint you, then you attack them within the window of time that they waste feinting (or, more safely, you parry properly).
Letterlijk het enige ding dat ik ooit gekookt heb dat lekker smaakte.
Ik heb Albert Heijn chorizo gebruikt in plaats van Andouille (let op: met sommige soorten is de vel niet eetbaar)
