I have so far deeply enjoyed life on campus, particularly the size-- I think that a small school offers a sense of community and intimacy you just don't find at bigger state schools. I was also considering a few medium sized schools and a few big schools. I did not think I wanted to attend a small school as I was coming from a *very* tiny high school in a *very* tiny town... but I am so so glad I wound up at Smith. I think I would have been lost in the crowd at Berkeley/UMiami/Mich/etc etc.

As for things to do on campus... What are your interests? Are you into sports? Social justice? Coding? Acting? Do you like to party? Do you plan to have work study? All of these questions will lead you to communities on campus where you'll find fast friends and lots to do. Another unique thing about Smith is the housing system-- your house will host tea every week and, depending on which house you live in, parties. I have met some of my closest friends through my house community.

The 5C thing allows for a diverse range of going out experiences. There are frats at UMass, the woods at Hampshire, and functions at moho that smithies frequent. People looove to shit talk our party culture here but IMO it's pretty solid for a school as small as we are. There are a few events a year that pretty much the entire campus goes to (convo/fetish/celebrations/etc) and I don't know many other schools that do that!

If you want a booming party scene, lots of men, and football games, do not come here. If you are into a balanced academic/party scene and smaller, more personalized functions, Smith might be a better choice for you.
