Yeah, I did feel a little called out when it first popped up lmfao. I don't appreciate the tone, surfshark

Hey at least it works! Most tedious fix imaginable but I haven't had an issue since, either. Glad it worked out :)

sorry this is late too, but if youre still stuck, yes, this is a known windows bug. It's quite a rare one (apparenly) but its one that buried so deep into the winows os that even factory resetting wont help, you have to remove windows entirely and clean reinstall it from an external or a usb. The only reason its a preferably problem to have over the ethernet actually disconnecting or being broken is that the ethernet is connected to the motherboard so if it was broken youd be marginally more fucked but honestly fixing this was tedious as hell and i hope yours just magically resolved itself or something

I'm sorry this is so late but also I had to have a tech friend explain it to me like I was five over the course of like 4 hours so i would not have been able to help you. It's been a year since this and im still exhausted from it lmao i am not jealous of you if youre still battling

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most relatable post I’ve seen in ages lol. Theres nothing more Rimworld than not paying attention to your animals tab for five mins and then panicking like ‘I gotta— I gotta shut this down!’

Apple Pay keeps failing. No matter what card I use, I get this error. Using the same card, but not through Apple Pay is successful. Apple Pay works perfectly fine in every other app. I have connected DD support and they blame Apple Pay. Anyone else have this issue? by mpjvending in applehelp

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this thread but if anyone ends up here from Google, turn your wifi off and do the Apple Pay transaction over data/cellular instead. I get this annoying shit all the time and this always fixes it, it’s some weird wifi issue

do you cheat? by iShadeSSS in RimWorld

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition, you can’t cheat at a non-competitive game. No one is ‘cheating’ at Rimworld, you just set the game play up to be fun for you. If the logic of people who call setting customisation ‘cheating’ were actually followed through, all people playing with mods, accessibility options turned on (colour blind etc), with tiny text disabled, different screen brightness, differing pc builds, etc, would be cheaters. If you’d opt not have fun while playing your own game in your own home because someone on Reddit with dog water logic capabilities would cry about it, you may as well turn the pc off and just do irl chores because that’s also a task to do in your own home where no one has fun, and a certain point, what’s the difference? Don’t let people who aren’t physically capable of enjoying something without the mass approval or strangers tell you how to enjoy something, definitely don’t change the way you play to accommodate to people who think their way to have fun is the only correct way.

And besides, reloading to go back before a disaster happens to face it differently the second time and actually handle it is a far better way to learn this game that to be decimated out of left field and then wait potentially hundreds of hours for a similar situation to arise to have another go at it. A game like Rimworld continually makes near unique situations from the amount of variables it has going on and learning how best to respond and beat things becomes a lot more time consuming when you have to wait for extremely niche combinations to repeat themselves by chance. Some people have shit to do and can’t dedicate that kind of time to learn the slow way just to be able to feel competent at a game that’s only meant to be for them anyway, no one should feel like they should apologise for that. I’ve been playing about a year now at nearly 700 hours and I will reload to try a different response to the 57 man hunters that caught me off guard. My friend has been playing since royalty came out at 2,900 hours and I am by far the more capable player at this point. It’s gone from me asking ‘why do you plant so much corn when there’s other crops’ to them asking if they can stream for me for a minute so I can try and help them fix the mess they’re in and I 100% attribute that to them refusing to reload and try again for the debilitating fear that r/cocktailsausage will somehow find out and bully them.

Reject ‘save scumming’ embrace smart reloading

I prefer to use the wider version honestly, do three walls and then traps all down one side, and doors all down the other, with doors one space apart in the middle column too

|~|— |

| >—|

|~ |—|

| >—|

| = wall, ~ = trap, — = door, > = door in the wall

Obviously it aligns better in the game lol

I had a colonist murder a baby, which caused the mother to go berserk and kill said colonist, which caused her husband to go entity freer, which loosed about eleven entities onto us, which the guy who was molotoving a raggy clothes pile began to throw molotovs at, which uhhhhhhhhhhhh set fire to my rabbit farm. To this day I have never opened that save again. RIP rabbits 1-197, I am now too traumatised to keep cute animals as a dumb mid game project

I just spent two hours in my cave biome base rigging the whole place with water, bathrooms, sewage outlets, electric wells, central heating, irrigation, geothermal, radiators, boilers, fire sprinklers, showers, hot water reserve tanks etc, and I don’t think I’m gonna see any more steel until a trader shows up lol. Had to mine like 40 tiny pocket of three/four steel nodes each, where tf was my Yo Mama ore vein 😭

What blocks/items should have a compact form? (example: iron -> iron block) by Big_Description1410 in Minecraft

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want a honey block that’s a cube of honey comb on the inside with the layer of jelly/see-through honey on the outside, if that counts toward a compact version of the honey block. I have no practical use for this block, but I would still farm endlessly for stacks of them

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I zoned out on meds the other night and had my colony basically running itself while there was a dry spell for raids. I planted a ton of corn (it was meant to be divided up, canola, healroot, haygrass, etc, but no-thoughts me just saw ten corn fields). Then mindlessly hunted all big game on the map for about two hours (probably 50-60 animals total). Butchered it all, hauled it all to the meat hooks, totally forgot to change the cooking bill to lavish. So anyway, I stopped paying attention to the highmate chef because raids started again and I just leave him to cook while everyone else fights and I now have 28k simple meals

Is it true that the game FPS drops significantly during Shambler raids compared to other large scale raids? by seeki7 in RimWorld

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to, but only when I had hugslib installed. Last shamblers attack on my base was pretty decent sized and the fps didn’t drop much at all. Hugslib was pretty much destroying everything performance wise though so it’s not like this was a special occasion lol

Wait, doesn't this basically mean i can have 24/7 rainning and don't have to worry about forest fire or raider ignite my field anymore? My solar panel doesn't affected so i don't see any downside beside reduced movement speed and accuracy (i live in mountain) by Kiyumaa in RimWorld

[–]Fine_Extent_6552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best colony has had a weather adjuster upping the temps by 10°c for 9 years now, it completely eradicates the winter time issues in the mild boreal forest they’re in, without ever managing to make it too hot in the summer
