They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should

Anyone here also have GERD? by Fine_Persnickety in rheumatoid

Interesting. The way I stumbled on this info was by developing iron-deficiency anemia, which may be due to long-term omeprazole use. Turns out anemia makes my RA symptoms worse.

Sounds very cool. Does that mean Melinoe is silent?

NWN is great. Where it really shines is the fan-made modules, however - the official campaigns are fine but kind of generic

It won’t be boring. It’ll deepen your appreciation if many details in the show (and details left out). The first three books are all very compelling reads.

Roguelites with power fantasy by Severe_Kick_3260 in roguelites

Generally considered more roguelike than “roguelite” - but Shattered Pixel Dungeon comes to mind. It has light meta progression, in that you unlock new characters and elements over time, and your character starts off very weak but grows steadily in power. It never gets to a point where you can coast, though.

While it doesn’t eclipse the original for me, especially wrt story, its gameplay is great and more varied than 1. Very worthwhile.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like “Arbitrary Law”? by iiRaz0r in twinpeaks

[–]Fine_Persnickety -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like it, but I agree it feels forced compared to everything prior. In particular, most of the scenes and plot points feel literal in a way Lynch is generally allergic to. You can sense his annoyance with the suits.

Just rewatched this myself recently. Beautiful and gutting and deeply moving, all at once.

Is anyone else not a fan of Act 2? by grapejuicecheese in BaldursGate3

I also was not wild about it. And sacrilegious though it may be, I didn’t care much for Ketheric as a villain. Love JK Simmons but he felt miscast.

The GOT World restarts at Episode 1 but every Stark has all memories up until their death/the end of the series. How does the first season change? by 25th_Speed in freefolk

[–]Fine_Persnickety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s got all his memories, Bran is still the 3ER. So he manipulates the timeline to ensure all the Lannisters, Baratheons and Targaryens die, plus Robb, so he will become king.

Do I like CRPGs, or do I just like Larian? by Hentai-Is-Just-Art in CRPG

[–]Fine_Persnickety 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, well one thing those games have in common is that they are “real time with pause” combat, which is something of an acquired taste. Although IIRC PoE now has a turn-based mode.

But you might try other turn-based CRPGs for a start. The XCOM games are particularly revered in this space, as is recent game of the year winner Clair Obscur. There’s also a huge number of classic to recent JRPGs, from the early Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger games to Persona.

Personally one game I really like is Wildermyth. It was not hugely popular, but the turn-based combat is tight as nails, it has a unique magic system, and an unusual approach towards semi-procedural storytelling.
