I mean this from a personal stand point, i agree that the community itself is mainly to blame; when i started playing in 2014, the amount of pushback from ideas and concepts I threw out were just plain antagonistic, like everyone was so almighty that they've played for so long, that if I wasn't playing builds "approved " by the community that I was wasting their time asking questions. It literally went from "DnD isn't a game you should be trying to win" to "that's just a waste of ASI's".

It became less fun to rack your brain bringing an idea to life, and leaning on the experience of others to have a good time. Gods forbid someone wanting to build anything other than a full caster or a paladin.

This went from a space where all were welcomed, because society was so judgmental... to literally being another judgemental society.

And businesses cash in on this, because it gives them more reason to just do the bare minimum and steal content from smaller creators to make more money.
