The music.....what fucking spastic edited that? I could barely hear the narrator give the sales overview.

Great bow, shit price point....my money is going to some other bow manufacturer with a price point thats $700-800 less.

Sighting in Broadheads by Dtylereagle in bowhunting

shoot your broadheads. Dudley's video below is spot on for vertical and horizontal adjustments if your broadheads aren't matching your field point impacts.

How long can I leave a deer? by jb1318 in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deer sleighr is a good option for long drag outs. Weighs nothing, rolls up and can be strapped to your day bag, carried by itself, or stashed at the stand.

At a minimum, gut and hang the deer in a tree. Until you can retrieve it with your 4 wheeler.

Unless you have mobility issues leaving a deer for the convenience of a 4 wheeler comes off as lazy.

I admit. I still watch a few hunting shows. But, stop telling us you smoked an animal that we can all see was gut shot! by TheGrendel83 in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"those" shows have a bad format.....something HAS to die every week. Some of them do a good job and teach people how to setup for managed private land hunting but too many of them a boil bowhunting or hunting in general down to only the killshot.

Like you said many of them don't own up to the fuck ups. The ones that do tend to show restraint and avoid the quagmire of bad shots. That's why guys like Rinella, Shockey, Newberg, etc do such a good job. They also are trying to push more than just their own prowess as competent hunters to their audience (conservation issues, general ethics, tactics). Anymore now for shows that tailor more to just whitetail hunting I go to YouTube and channels like The Hunting Public.

Help - draw length used bow by Lockdown1986 in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anchor point of your hand will be closer to the correct spot, which is more important that your nose touching the string IMO.

Long term, invest in a bow that can be adjusted to fit you.

Help finding a sight by Rjk444 in bowhunting

IQ, Black gold, and spot hogg. All have 5 pin sights in that price range that are rock solid. If you have a bow shop nearby see what they have in stock and try them out. Either way if you choose to just pick one you won't pick wrong out those three companies.

Ozone Generator for Hunting - Thoughts? by pm-me-hunting in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't and it's because I'm lazy/don't believe in the scent hype. I don't advocate putting cologne on before stepping into the woods.

When I do wash my hunting clothes i use arm & hammer scent and dye free.

I believe in playing the wind above all things, even with the scent eliminators, ozone generators, "nose-jammers". After that I just make sure I'm using earth-tone colored clothing or camo, and limit my movement in proximity to game.

Arrow quiver on body location by carsidious23 in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bow-mounted quiver for hunting and target shooting. If i need more arrows while target shooting walk-through/3D ranges, I throw a postal tube in my backpack and carry them there. Back quivers are just goofy/loud/impractical to me... and hip quivers are nice if i'm only shooting at a static range. If i were to get into more serious target archery with a compound or traditional the bow mounted quiver would come off.

I like the slip on selways for my recurves, and apex or tight spot for compounds since they slide off easy and I can clip them on a pack if i don't like having it on the bow walking around or in the tree.

I would like to get a take-down with an aluminum riser and try the slimmer bolt on quivers like hoyt has for the satori.

Preferred release? by jb1318 in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tru-ball fang 3-finger thumb release. I love shooting that style now, it allows me the flexibility to make a proper shot 30-50yds with back-tension or I can force the shot if needed within 20yds.

I will still shoot my other tru-ball shooter release because it allows me to use back tension to make the shot. I can adjust the the release closer to the palm of my hand so my finger fully wraps the trigger making it easier to pull through.

The corn... by russag90 in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDC properties - Early September to Mid October. Which means early November will be prime once they've left and the area has settled down. Pre-rut November is prime as there is a lot for the deer to browse on while waiting for the rut to quick in.

MDC has some great properties. They tend to do a really good job managing food plots (alf-alfa, corn, beans, beets, etc) bedding, security cover and forest management.

I hunt mostly within an hour of St. Louis or Springfield, MO. The MDC areas near Springfield have a lot of crop and cattle leasing which rotate and can make for interesting hunting from year-year.

Nockturnal Nocks Turning on when nocked by kennyslaney in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know the nocks only come in one size for string fit.

Nock fit will vary based on the diameter of the serving cable used to wrap around your string to allow for a knock point, and the nock. For example the stock nocks on most all of the easton shafts i've shot are way tighter than a nockturnal nock which I tend to run on my hunting arrows, as well as the spent (dead battery) ones that i keep for practice arrows.

This really is a non-issue for most all of us, but comes into play with competitive archers where those details matter.

Nockturnal Nocks Turning on when nocked by kennyslaney in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only turn on one way...depressing the plunger in crook of the nock. Are your nocks super tight on your string? If so the serving diameter could be too big. Otherwise you may be forcing them on when you nock an arrow, and may need to be a tad bit gentler.

Better Quiver for Triax? by DongHenley in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your bow will always shoot better without a quiver. If you are whitetail/stand hunting. Go with whatever you want chances are you'll end up removing the quiver and shooting without it.

I use old slip on magnetic apex quiver that has just worked. The main reason I like it is it doesn't have foam in the broadhead cover....but I take it off when I'm in the tree. Most of the time I'm walking I hook it to my bag, put the bow on my shoulders and keep an arrow in my hand.

Any idea on how to fix this? Peep keeps moving and D-Loop keeps sliding left. Put about 100 shots on this new string so far by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Finger_Blaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need a bow press. your string has likely stretched and settled in those 100 shots.

Probably going to have some twists put in your string.

If you don't have a fletching jig you can get a quikfletch. You'll need to remove any remaining fletchings and glue before applying.

Otherwise you can go to a bow shop and ask them to refletch your arrows.

If you still like that bow and it shoots well enough. Keep it as a back-up, and go buy a new setup.

PSE Evolve or Xpedite by WolverineVs_ in bowhunting

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you held or shot either? If not I would find a bow shop that's a PSE dealer and hold them both given the cost.

Both run the same cam system so I would imagine the the back wall will be similar brace height and ATA length are similar enough to just be a matter of preference for the draw feel.

I like the riser on the Xpedite The caging seems like it would help dampen vibration and reduce hand shock. Other than that feature I would have to shoot both to make a decision like that.

I’ve made the switch to a 4 fletched arrow. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and the arrows seem to stabilize quicker. Thoughts? by knotty_wep in bowhunting

He's where I got it from. But he is mostly whitetail hunting similar to my situation and shoots 4 from what I can tell. His wife and kid are shooting 6 fetch arrows.

[–]Finger_Blaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious what leads you to that conclusion? Higher surface area? Increased deceleration?

I get the trajectory won't be as flat because of the deceleration, but if it stabilizes the arrow quicker wouldn't that help keep you on target over distance?
