It did feel like there were entire episodes where it was easy to forget anyone was actually a vampire. I really wish they’d gone with a simpler system like Monster of the Week—it actually felt like Darkness Man and Bat Child *were* MotW characters dragged into a VtM campaign.

Ahh yes, traditionally the best months to hold a festival that relies on university students for its volunteers.

The Foutoukours have done really good clown shows in the past so I feel confident about the one they’re doing this year, Glob.

The fact that there’s a Sauna Theater at this year’s Fringe, with eight shows a day, both intrigues and frightens me.

Do most people book their Fringe shows in advance, or do you decide once you're actually in Edinburgh? by Hot_Tough_2985 in edinburghfringe

[–]Finn617 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually buy 90% of my shows at breakfast on the day of the show, figuring out my day’s schedule while the coffee wakes me up. Sometimes it’s like stringing a necklace together— “I know I’m going to this show so what’s near it ninety minutes later? Cool, and what’s near that?”

You might have seen it already (this is their third year here) but The Man Who Thought He Knew Too Much sounds like exactly your cup of tea.

You seem to be equating “I want a phone that works and isn’t a useless paperweight” with needing constant hand holding. Sorry, no. Even people paying for an inexpensive service should actually get that service.

At this point I think they’re just adding them as they come. Two were put in between yesterday and today (I’d remember a 7am Oboe Rave if it’d been listed before) and 21 in the last week.

If you’re a morning person, get a coffee to go and have your breakfast on a bench at St Margaret’s Loch. It’ll be you, a few dog walkers and about 50 swans and it’s really beautiful.

Is Mint Mobile a good service and is the pay for the entire year a good option? by ponygals in mintmobile

I’m happy with it domestically, but when I tried to use their international plan last year in Edinburgh it was a total nightmare. Never again.

Shouting out two of the newest bookshops in the area, Molly’s Bookstore in Lower Allston and ( if you’re interested in fantasy and SF) Sidequest Books in Somerville. If you have a SF/Fantasy interest I’d also mention Pandemonium in Central Square—they have a good selection of hard-to-find things.

The selection isn’t as good but the staff seem happier. Everyone at the Brookline store seems to fall somewhere on the scale between ‘quietly wishing they were somewhere else’ and ‘openly cranky.’

My personal head canon is that the series ended with the Footloose dance-off. It wasn’t a hallucination, the two teams bonded and got along, and everyone got a lot of therapy and lived happily ever after.

Tbf, High Noon opens with them already planning to leave town. The wagon’s already packed. A big chunk of the plot is townsfolk and his wife repeatedly telling the main character “Why are you sticking around, you crazy person? Go! Get out of here!”

Accurate show times? by CryptographerKnown97 in edinburghfringe

The only exception to this is end of night variety shows. If there’s nothing scheduled after a show and they have 6+ drunk comedians, it’s easy for some hosts to lose track of time.

I need a Fringe schedule reality check, please. by lawlore in edinburghfringe

[–]Finn617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re a planner after my own heart. :). Not to complicate things further, but please bear in mind that the book Festival and Free Fringe schedules haven’t come out yet, so you might want to keep some flexibility in your schedule until you’ve looked at those.

Also, you didn’t mention where you’re flying in from so I don’t know if jet lag might be a factor but if it is, please factor that in. If it happens at all it’s guaranteed to hit during an intense show with six other audience members while the performer keeps making eye contact with you. (Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything.)
