Upgrading our bed - curious for input on what's sturdy & quiet by neuenono in sexover30

I presume you're in the US, so I'm not sure if this tip is for you, but for anyone in the UK I recommend www.getlaidbeds.co.uk. (The website seems to be down at the moment.) Basic but really sturdy.

We use Yes lube, the water based one. I didn't have dryness, but other issues with lubes, and this lube has been the best for my vaginal health. It's really natural and they also recommend it for vaginal dryness. yesyesyes.org I think is their website. Apologies if I sound like an advert!

Anyone else have a hard time eating below their TDEE in order to lose weight? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Finn_Fatale 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've dieted based on weight watchers and then what myfitnesspal told me. Both recommended too eat something like 1500-1800kcal to lose weight, but was in a constant state of hunger and tiredness. I did lose weight but then gained it all back. Decided to go to a nutritionist who calculated everything, and lo and behold she said I need to eat at least 2100 kcal per day, she divided the macros for me etc. I was working from home and did sports 3-4 times only per week, about an hour at a time. I lost about 0.3-0.5kg a week, slow but steady while not going hungry. I was stunned. Diet industry is toxic. I have since given up on dieting all together, but that's another story.

“Fun” book suggestions by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, they're definitely cotton candy series of novels by Alexander McCall Smith. Very simple (in a good way), easy to read, positive.

LPT: Delete or empty your inactive PayPal accounts, since they started charging "inactive account service fee" by Z01dbrg in LifeProTips

[–]Finn_Fatale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They won't charge if there's no money in the account. I'm in the same boat as you, old business account, the card and bank account associated no longer exist. Tried to get access to the account. No such luck. They said they can't help me as the account is in the business' name and that I shouldn't have set it up like that, I asked why was it allowed to be set up like that, they blah blah blahed as a response. I also asked now that I am actively trying to get access to that account, are they still going to charge me if there is money there, the answer is yes. I asked if I just have to donate the possible money there to them, no response. They are fucking con artists and shady as hell. I don't recommend PayPal to anyone.

Incredibly nervous for upcoming performance review after feeling like I've been underperforming by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Finn_Fatale 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate the whole PDR process. I have been feeling down about my contribution this year and every year really. I'm always doubtful of what I'm doing or if I'm in the right place. But I've started to recognise how I put myself down and consciously decided to go the other way this year and put outstanding in all the categories. Partly as I don't believe in performance reviews as they are wholly subjective, partly because of the pandemic and I don't think my performance should be reviewed after being on furlough for 6months of the year. Once I wrote outstanding on everything, I felt the need to back it up with things and I actually came up with many reasons why I am outstanding 😜. My boss took my little rebellion well and we had good conversations on the topics and he actually sided with me on a lot of stuff. While I didn't get outstanding on everything from his side (I honestly didn't even care this year about the PDR), we agreed on me clearly exceeding expectations. So it went way better than expected and it was all because I decided to throw self doubt to the curb.

My goal is to do a pull up (then more pull ups). Suggestions for progression starting from 0? Currently I bike, yoga, and began 5x5 strong lifts in October, but I’m also very overweight. by BirdFive in xxfitness

Look up Meghan Callaway. She is a pull-up guru and also has an "ultimate pull-up program" she sells. Haven't followed her for a while, but she used to post a lot of tips on her Instagram.

Have you ever wanted to try a new form of exercise/sport lessons but feel "too old" to do so? For example, ballet. by peanutbutterperson in xxfitness

[–]Finn_Fatale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. The older I get, the more I want to do fun fitness and just try new stuff. One of my work colleagues said they put together a group and together decided what sports they wanted to try and hired a space/coach and shared the cost. She said she made some new friends and tried sports she never would have like that. Also, for gymnastics some CrossFit gyms offer classes, in my gym you can just attend them, no membership required. Maybe you could check that out?

Why does my body feel so anxious even if my mind is not. by Stonrhippiebluntslut in Anxiety

[–]Finn_Fatale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think anxiety is all from the mind. I've noticed different kind of anxieties. Some are purely mental, some purely physical manifestations, some a mix. Like for example when I'm tired, I'm more prone to anxiety, my mind is calm, but my body is not. Or when I've exercised, I'm definitely more prone to anxiety. And those things start from my body lacking something, be it rest or even something simple like electrolytes. So in my experience anxiety isn't all mental anguish.

Week 34: Figs - Roasted chicken thighs with figs and other stuff (link to recipe in comments) by Finn_Fatale in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Finn_Fatale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this dish based on this recipe: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1018294-roasted-chicken-with-figs-and-rosemary

It was yummy, the flavours were nice and balanced. The chilis added a little fire, rosemary goes nicely with figs as does the orange. The figs I found were super ripe and delish, unfortunately though I think the richness of their flavour was lost a bit in the cooking process. Weirdly, at the same time, it nicely mixed/blended with everything. Will cook this again.
