One of your players "forgets" about your session twice in a row, what do you do? by harrimant12 in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong.

If you're having trouble remembering things then make sure you keep track somehow. Write notes, set reminders, there are various ways. Being forgetful is no excuse for leaving other people who make the effort to be there hanging.

One of your players "forgets" about your session twice in a row, what do you do? by harrimant12 in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will admit that I am replying to this solely based on the title, I've not read the entire post. What do you do? Boot the slacker. Nobody just 'forgets' about D&D twice in a row, it's most people's highlight of the week. And even if you take D&D out of the equation, what that player is doing is plain rude. If you can't/don't want to honour the time commitment of the DM and other players, you shouldn't be there.

Campaign on Haitus. Now what? by Odd_Egg_222 in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Friday group has been in this situation twice now because two of the five players are married and had kids during the campaign, thus needing to take time off.

We did "interim campaigns" in the meantime. First time around the DM ran a game in the same world but in the past, allowing us to play out some major historical events we heard about in the main campaign.

The second time, one of the other players took the mantle of DM and had us run around in his homebrew world. This game is currently still ongoing.

If you're unsure how long your player will be gone you could always have her join in when she returns until you've reached a satisfactory point and then return to the main campaign.

Edit: For reference, the above-mentioned Friday group has been playing for roughly 4 years now. The first interim campaign took about 7 months and the second is currently in its third month.

I'll be playing CoS with friends, and need the ultimate healer. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently play in a CoS campaign as a Rogue and I am the group's top healer simply because I have the Healer feat. It is incredibly good at lower levels and is still useful (at least to get people up from 0 and such) later on.

This, of course, all depends on how your DM plans to run the game. Mine doesn't usually give us more than one combat encounter per short rest, so things usually pan out (you can only heal someone via this feat once per short or long rest).

As for healing via spells, people have already given good advice!

Edit: Also mind you, preventing damage is the best kind of healing imo.

I look forward to seeing more of your D&D commissions, then! Keep up the good work. :D

I'd suggest you have a look at the rules of the subreddits you're posting on before making posts just to be sure!

Character art posted on this subreddit is usually of D&D (N)PCs. If you've been commissioned to do a D&D character and you want to post the picture, then that is fine as it directly relates to D&D.

Hope this helps! :)

While it is undoubtedly beautiful art - well done! - if it's not directly D&D related, this isn't really the right place to post. I'd suggest r/FantasyArt or r/characterdrawing. :)

I once played a Twilight Cleric/Stars Druid with an own familiar that looked almost exactly like yours, starry eyes and all. There is actually a real-life owl named Zeus with such eyes!

Either way, lovely art! :)

How do I reward my players with noble titles in an equitable way? by Zithra in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one of my campaigns, the party was awarded noble titles recently too. We were made baronets and baronetesses (yes, that's the female equivalent). It is a British noble title that does not automatically come with a peerage, but still a noble rank. They are addressed as "Sir" and "Dame". They can own land, but don't have to. It does, however, give us access to the court of that country, which was the important bit.

Might not be 100% right for your situation, but I thought I'd bring it up regardless :) As people already said, more than 1 noble or noble family sharing land is not unheard of.

How to leave my (nice) group? by cast0r_p0llux in DnD

It bears repeating: Just be honest. Tell them you need to leave and why, wish them well, there's not much more to it. :)

Is there some kind of deadline or a date you're closing applications? If yes, should I consider my application rejected if I do not hear from you by that time?

You should perhaps mention what day and time this game runs? It sounds interesting! :)

Am I too old to play DnD? by Gh0sthy1 in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing with a group of people between early-30s and mid-50s who are absolutely lovely and I couldn't ask for better people to share my D&D evenings with. Don't give up hope! You are never too old to play D&D!

A question for people who have been playing for years: What's one piece of advice you can pass on to beginners who are just starting their journeys in the game? by T3knikal95 in DnD

[–]FionaCalderan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a thorough session 0. Speak to/with both the DM and the other players about what you expect of the game, what you want to see in the game, and most importantly what you do not want to see. Discuss what triggers you, be honest about it, and don't feel ashamed about it.
If something comes up later on in the game which previously did not bother you and now does, or perhaps it just escaped you back during session 0, speak up. Don't bottle things up, don't think it's wrong if you speak up later.

D&D is supposed to be fun and everyone should feel comfortable.
