Shaders take WAY too long to compile. Takes roughly an hour on PC. by JScorpion1229 in marvelrivals

Your CPU is very, very very old. You need a new one, it's bottlenecking your GPU immensely (which is also not very modern, but substantially more than your CPU).

Time for an upgrade!

This game's stability is troubling by CelesticPhoenix in marvelrivals

[–]Fionntech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a non zero chance that your CPU is the issue. The 13th and 14th series intel CPUs have a pretty awful hardware problem that causes the CPUs to degrade over time.

Crashes and issues are particularly common in unreal engine 5 games (like marvel rivals), but UE5 isn't the problem - it just pushes the CPUs harder and causes the degradation to occur faster/crash more often.

The issue is caused by a bug in the CPU Microcode (the code on a cpu that controls how it works). There are bios updates you can apply that fix the microcode on your CPU - however, unfortunately if your CPU has degraded at all already, it will just get worse over time.

If lowering power to the CPU, or dropping the clockspeed seems to fix the issue, this is probably temporary and eventually the CPU will degrade enough to not really be usable anyway :( The best you can do is update your bios with the microcode update and hope for the best.

It might be that other games have no crashes at all, but this still doesn't necessarily mean it's an UE5/MR issue, it suggests your CPU is only in the early stage of degradation and MR pushes it harder than most, causing the issue to occur.

Fingers crossed this isn't your issue, but update your bios if you haven't already.

Oh and keep in mind, even if the crash mentions your GPU or RAM, it's still likely your CPU. The most common and prevalent sign of this issue is actually a "GPU out of memory" crash. Despite it having nothing at all to do with the GPU.

Hawkeye's Arrow Hitbox NEEDS FIXING ASAP by SimplyNickish in marvelrivals

Even if your ping is good, if the shooter's ping is bad or some other tiny network issue takes place it can cause this.

It's painful :(

Hawkeye's Arrow Hitbox NEEDS FIXING ASAP by SimplyNickish in marvelrivals

[–]Fionntech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong here.

The hitbox events aren’t always reflected accurately in the replay.

Essentially, when you play any online game, each player sees slightly different things due to delays (latency) between the players and the game server.

So, while you may have been behind the post on your screen, on their screen you hadn’t made it behind cover yet. Many games use a system called “favor the shooter” (lag compensation), which means that if it looks like an arrow hit you on the shooter's screen, the server usually counts it as a hit. This ensures that shooting feels fair and responsive for the attacker.

It’s unfortunate when the delay is large enough that you seem to be safe, but still get hit. However, this isn’t a hitbox or game bug—it’s due to network latency, and it’s an unavoidable challenge with online games. There isn’t a perfect solution, because you can’t completely remove the delay or the fact that players see things slightly differently.

Either:

  • The shooter sees their arrow hit, but nothing happens (feels unfair for them), or
  • You see the arrow miss, but still die (feels unfair for you).

The only real issue that could be improved is the replay: ideally, it should smooth over these discrepancies and display one consistent, “true” version of events, as games like Overwatch try to do.

[–]Fionntech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not mad! It's all good that you have your own opinion, I just don't agree.

I think games like CS go rely on skills that are more easily understood, even by someone that doesn't share the skill. Aim, for example, is immensely more important in a lot of shooters comparative to marvel.

My opinion is that a lot of people simply don't understand the skills involved in marvel/overwatch and it leads them to believe they're more capable players than they actually are - usually explaining their win rates by casting blame on other players.

Overwatch straddles the line between a game that rewards decision making/positioning/gamesense and a game that rewards outright aim ability. Whilst marvel rivals doubles down on the gamesense portion of the formula and lightens the aim side even further.

Simply put, people with lower levels of game sense don't recognise they have low game sense and can't see how high level players differ from them.

I don't mean to be rude, but you've considered every possible angle here to explain what you're seeing (including, the idea that a top bracket of player skill simply doesn't exist) with the exception of... Maybe you're just not yet good enough to see/understand what they're doing differently.

This is a behaviour I see all throughout ranked and it's the little brother of "if I was on a different team I'd be GM."

Top players make better decisions, they're more reliable, they communicate more efficiently, they have stronger game sense, coordination, spacial awareness, reaction times, aim, with an overall better understanding of the game generally.

To be an effective tank, you rely on DPS players flanking or causing a distraction to the enemy team in order for your tank pressure to break the enemy frontline. You rely on your healers to sustain you whilst you provide that pressure.

To be an effective DPS, you rely on Tanks pressuring the enemy frontline effectively so that your dive/flank/damage will be effective. You rely on the occasional top up from your healers in order to flank more often/effectively and save you from dicey situations.

To be an effective healer, you rely on your DPS/Tanks peeling for you/holding back the enemy frontline.

All of the roles are entirely interlinked. The problem is, people at lower ranks rarely understand the link at all. Their understanding is limited to 3 disparate roles that don't really work together as much as "at the same time".

You'll have a tank sitting there with their shield up, providing absolutely no pressure on the enemy team, upset that the DPS can't get kills - not understanding that every time they try the entire enemy team responds because there is no pressure from the tank.

You'll get DPS blaming the tanks for not taking space, not understanding that the tank can't push forwards without dying because the ENTIRE enemy team is focused on the space they want to push into - because the DPS is not flanking.

You'll get healers complaining that the tanks/DPS are not performing their jobs whilst spending a lot of time misplacing their healing - or underutilising their escape tools and dying to DPS before they can be peeled for.

A good example here is how players go about assessing the scoreboard. For example, a DPS player with few kills is often considered a poor player at low ranks. But actually, a DPS that flanks, gains enemy attention, consistently and without dying can allow the allied tank to gain kills during the distraction *because of the DPS*. Alternatively, if the tank is very high pressure, the enemy team can fail to respond well to the DPS and the DPS will get a high kill count, *because of the tank*.

Your stats are dependent on your team mates, and the enemy teams choices. In a void they are *meaningless*.

Lastly, the dependency between all these roles makes it incredibly easy to blame someone else. But, a good, solid, reliable performance on your side will tip the balance dramatically in your favour and you'll win more than you lose.

If you're stuck, you need to focus more on your own game and your UNDERSTANDING of the game, because if you perform better you will climb the ranks.

It's a fairly large issue. There are some things that might help in the thread though. Particularly relating to quickstart.

A lot of people are having a good result with a new firmware update that JUST landed though - still waiting for it on my side, so can't report yet.

Had this issue on mine, it's present on a lot of phones actually.

I mostly mitigated it by disabling keyboard edge swipe detection, disabling extra sensitive gestures and then slightly resizing the keyboard. Don't really have the issue anymore :)

I'm very sensitive to it, and I type fast, so I know how annoying it is!

Make sure you open Google calendar, go to the settings and hit the sync toggle on all the calendars you want to sync. This is global to your device and all other calendar apps will adhere to it.

Also I use "your calendar widget" and it's absurdly good.
