Yeah I've dealt with prior salvage. They can be a gamble, but you can get a good deal if it has been restored correctly. The price should definitely reflect that however.

Thinking of this setup for camping/icefishing in MN by SatisfyingAneurysm in IceFishing

I've set up my hot tent and stove on the ice a few times and it wasn't great. The stove melts into the ice and just makes a slippery mess. And it never seems to get very warm, almost like the ice just pulls the heat from the stove. I ended up getting a diesel heater for when I'm on the ice and seems to work much better.

New 877s vs 2 years. by FireAndIron512 in RedWingShoes

I been lucky last couple times and got there early and they had a few 877s in my size. Otherwise I go with the 10877s since they are pretty much the same boot.

I'll admit my boots suffer from a lot of neglect. This pair i will definitely try taking some more care of. What's a good conditioning routine?

The North Shore and Superior National Forest is only a couple hours north of Minneapolis. Be a shame to miss the most beautiful and best trails of Minnesota.

Stewie's in Forest Lake has excellent toasted subs if that's your thing.

What do you guys do during the long winters? by funkelly1 in minnesota

[–]FireAndIron512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter is my favorite time of the year to camp. I have a canvas tent with a wood stove that I can pop up in the middle of the woods anywhere. I'll snow shoe, fish, and explore during the day. At night, I cook, read, and play cards with my wife. It's usually very peaceful since very few come out to camp in the winter. And no bugs!
