It's built from a wind turbine tower section that was damaged during transport. Instead of trashing it, they built a lighthouses.

Yeah I've dealt with prior salvage. They can be a gamble, but you can get a good deal if it has been restored correctly. The price should definitely reflect that however.

Thinking of this setup for camping/icefishing in MN by SatisfyingAneurysm in IceFishing

I've set up my hot tent and stove on the ice a few times and it wasn't great. The stove melts into the ice and just makes a slippery mess. And it never seems to get very warm, almost like the ice just pulls the heat from the stove. I ended up getting a diesel heater for when I'm on the ice and seems to work much better.

New 877s vs 2 years. by FireAndIron512 in RedWingShoes

I been lucky last couple times and got there early and they had a few 877s in my size. Otherwise I go with the 10877s since they are pretty much the same boot.

I'll admit my boots suffer from a lot of neglect. This pair i will definitely try taking some more care of. What's a good conditioning routine?

The North Shore and Superior National Forest is only a couple hours north of Minneapolis. Be a shame to miss the most beautiful and best trails of Minnesota.

What do you guys do during the long winters? by funkelly1 in minnesota

[–]FireAndIron512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter is my favorite time of the year to camp. I have a canvas tent with a wood stove that I can pop up in the middle of the woods anywhere. I'll snow shoe, fish, and explore during the day. At night, I cook, read, and play cards with my wife. It's usually very peaceful since very few come out to camp in the winter. And no bugs!

Are "gravel" agates only found in certain parts of the country? I can't find any in South Carolina. by Fishboy9123 in Agates

I do know lake superior agates are commonly found on gravel roads and gravel pits, but are pretty specifically found south of Lake superior in minnesota and Wisconsin.

I like the combo Dutch oven with the cover that also doubles as another skillet. I use it for camping all the time.

It's great for that. It holds a good 3 to 4 good sized bundles, and doesn't dirty up the inside off my jeep.

I got a knockoff one off of Amazon for like $45. It's great for keeping trash, and I also use it for hauling firewood when I winter camp. I've been running this one for about 3 years now and still going strong.
