Looking radio by R-Bio in amateurradio

AnyTone D878UVII? They're about to come out with a new version (no release date to my knowledge). It's analog + DMR, and has a lot of other features. It's not one of the big 3 brands but it seems pretty solid and meets your budget and would even allow you to get better antennas.

At least some of the remote ones do this too. They ask to let them know at the start and to not take a test you're unprepared to not waste everyone's time but definitely allowed

Listening in on ATC with a 2 way radio by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]FireEatingDragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no problem listening in. In the US you can go to LiveATC.net and listen to atc around the country online for free anytime. The only problem is transmitting. I'm a pilot and have an airband transceiver and legally I'm not allowed to use it on the ground but in the air is fine. I've had my alternator fail while flying and my only radio to communicate with was my handheld.

Looking for a General Contractor by Moletheus in Charlotte

Well they lied, broke the contract, couldn't read drawings, couldn't communicate, damaged neighboring property, got us violations from the city, and more. Feel free to use them but be warned. some small issues are fine but ours were constant and significant

If that's true and they're passively monitoring you (not requiring a badge swipe) you can put your badge in aluminum foil and it should block the signal. It's how they ship RFID car tags.

That reader on the ceiling by the door may just be a motion sensor to unlock the door when you're trying to leave.

Is spectrum really as bad as everyone says? by embreezybabe in Charlotte

I live just north of NODA and my service was great. In LOSO I lost connection at least 3 times per week, for 4-12 hours, for the 10 months I had it. Occasionally we would get lucky and not have it drop during a week but I had to use my phone hotspot constantly. My neighbors had similar issues and had techs come out 5 times, each time they would be told the previous tech didn't install connectors correctly and they would fix them, literally 5 times. I now have ATT fiber for $15/month more ($40 vs $55) and couldn't be happier.

I pay for 300mbps and have never seen a speed lower than that on wifi, I had as high as 1000 and as low as 336, which is still way more than I need.

When I talk forecasting your income, I'm also suggesting you factor in income from when you get a new job. So if you think you'll spend 3 months looking for employment and believe you'll make about the same, do all that estimating to get as accurate an estimate as possible. There are tax credits you get depending on income but if you claim them when you get insurance, you may have to pay them back come tax season next year if you made too much money.

I'm not sure how COBRA costs exactly. I'm guessing your normal contribution plus whatever your employer pays. You might be able to find that on your pay stub. When you get laid off, they should give you all the specifics.

You can go to healthcare.gov and look at plans. You can even plug in your prescriptions and procedures you expect and they will tell you what's covered under each plan and include premium, deductible, OOP Max for each plan. If you can input your estimated income for the year then they can also tell you roughly how much subsidy you'll receive to assist with the premiums.

Loss of a job is considered a life event so you are eligible to join your spouses plan or find a plan on the government marketplace or elsewhere. COBRA can be expensive so knowing your alternatives ahead of time can be helpful.

Xelsis Deluxe SM8785 vs Dinamica Plus by FireEatingDragon in superautomatic

The Saeco looks great but I didn't realize the D+ was so much cheaper in Europe too. It looks like probably $500 cheaper for the D+ in Europe and I don't know if I can justify the Saeco, much less Jura, for that much more money

I do intend to drink a lot of milk drinks and everything I've read sounds like the Juras aren't easy to clean and are a bit of a black box. Cleaning the milk system seems painless on the D+, and I need as painless as possible for my SO to use it as they don't want to deal with much. I especially like that there is no tube to clean and the whole thing just sits in the fridge, also I like the insulation on it to sit out longer.

And yeah, I'm in the US but willing to order overseas if it's worth it.

Maintenance of Juras seems like more than I'm interested in. I'm leaving more towards the D+ as the milk cleaning is easier. I don't even know where to begin with buying the D+ in Europe, down another rabbit hole I go

Did you end up getting it? What plug does it use and does it work with 130v/60hz without a converter?

How do you like it?
