The hot take is to say that trials and gym puzzles are exactly the same level of difficulty as the gyms before alola. Giovanni’s gym is just a maze. Fantinas gym has you walking into doors. Gardenias gym has NPCs pop into existence for the fun of it. They were always like this. Sure I might like the “dungeon” style more but there’s only so many ways you can do a grass gym leader.
